READ THIS POST-NEW SOXTALK POSTING POLICY

Save that rant for politics nuke...I'm sure we'll have lots of good things to discuss on the board with the convention firing up -
Nah, for once their aren't an assload of wires around my tv. I got them all hidden and everything. I'm surprised I was able to do it and do a clean job of it as well. Plus I drilled some holes in the back of my tv thing and put my video game systems in the drawers and have the wires running through the back. I was pretty impressed with my work. Now I'm ready to bust out lots and lots of Madden

Heres the question...is it better then the bank...or are we going to start seeing threads of how much people suck for not having a life and renting videos on Friday and Saturday nights
-
We'll see how that one works out Alex. It was considered a major shock though and if him and his followers do follow through, I would consider it a huge step forward, imo. I only caught part of the convention so I can't really say much about it. Watched the late night coverage recapping it though, but since I didn't see/hear all of either speach I'm not going to comment. I was stuck fixing my tv.

I'll give the Cowboys credit, but they may of ended their season when they did that. I'm still surprised they haven't went out and looked for someone else to bring in. Henson definately has talent, but you can't thrust him out there this year and Vinny isn't going to last a full season. DBAHO, you better be happy they have that defense, cause that should at least give em a shot.

That be badass, I always loved doing it

This was to open up a roster spot for a minor league call up. Off the top of my head neither Sweeney or Anderson is on the 40 man roster.

Its something we've been looking into the past day or so.

If I recall the Bears were halfway interested in him as well.

*Official* Madden Thread (New One)
Chisoxfn replied to CWSGuy406's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I just picked it up today, so once I get home from school...its so on -
Kanny, WS, and Bristol extend until 2006, while Great Falls gets a 4 year player development extension till 2008.
-
The Barons and White Sox agreed on a two year player development extension that will go through the 2006 season. Expect more on this as well on FS after my class tonight

All I'd like to see is when people make a post, before clicking the post button, ask, am I ripping this person or am I ripping his argument...if its the latter, go for it (assuming your not just saying thats the most assisine thing I've ever heard, but go in depth about it). I think you can sometimes learn more from disagree with someone (if the two debate back and forth) then you can if you both agree (although everyone should agree with me ). Anyway, this isn't a look what you said, your gone. Soxtalk is and always will be built with freedoms of posting, we just don't see where personal attacks should be a part of those freedoms. But everything else, other then racism and what not is fair game. -
I know their have been some rumors, so I just want to say the Knights will be staying in Charlotte. While I wish Charlotte's stadium wasn't a bandbox, I for one am happy that they will stay there. The Knights organization is full of quality individuals and I'm glad that the Sox are still going to be affiliated with them. The player development contract extends to the 2006 season. I'll put up something on FS about this after my night class.

David Eckstein would be a good comparison, of course he has a heck of a lot more speed then Eck.
-
Sweet, I'm sure we could get quite a few people to partake in something like that.

I may pick up Madden tomorrow, if they are still doing that trdae in ESPN for Madden at like 15 bucks less original price. In which case, I'm up for it. You can set up leagues and stuff right on EA's online this year? If so, I'm thinking a Soxtalk league would be badass.
-
I hope your talking about the Bud Light, cause that stuff is AWFUL in my book. Then again warm anything beer wise is bad.
-
My point is, Benitez is going to get huge money, while Percival, when healthy is dynamite and you could probably get him at a reasonable price. I think if he's willing to take a fair deal with some incentives (to protect the Sox in case he would get injured) then he would be a huge upgrade. Not saying its a must, also wasn't aware of Williamson going down. That sucks I always liked him. Isn't this the second time he's had this surgery or am I mistaken?
-
Who Whoa Whoa...is Jacque Jones a free agent or is he arbitration eligible??? If he's a free agent, get his ass on the southside pronto, then add a starter and some relievers. Mota would be amazing, but why would the Marlins deal him. He's still not gonna get a big raise for a while.
-
Thats a pretty good idea...i'll add that to the bottom of my post. Maybe everyone else can as well. Also, at the end of all these, I'll put them in the archive so we can all look back at em at some point next year
-
I was going to buy madden and trade in 2k, but I'm just too cheap. I lvoe hockey games and haven't bought one in a while, so I will definately be picking this game up. Speaking of which, it is pretty odd that the game is already coming out. I mean, how much longer is it until hockey season starts (even if it does???).
-
Put Scott Williamson on my list as well. Him and Percival would be sweet, but I know that would be a pipe dream. And I'd want Percival to like a 2 yr deal worth 8 mill or so, maybe some incentives. Him, Marte, Shingo would be pretty damn good and Percy has a great attitude. YOu are right about the whole injury thing, but it does appear he won't be in Anaheim.

I'll start off a new soundoff My Expectations: Like many, I expected Jon Garland to break out this year. The facts are that he pitched very good for a stretch this season, but has been absolutely brutal as of late. I have some definate concerns by the way he has pitched down this stretch this year and that he is obviously lacking in confidence or something. I don't think you can really say much of a positive about this season, other then its another year under his belt and that hopefully he'll finish the season healthy. I thought Garland could become a great #3 or a good #2 and even after this year, I still have that thought. My Take: While Garland has really bothered me as of late (his pitching performances), I still see so many things a like. He can make things look so easy and I do think he can get over the "one bad inning". Plus, he's cheap and hopefully the Sox will have him penciled in as a #5 starter, I mean, the guy is a great #5 starter and I still believe he can turn into a #2 or 3. Final Say: Garland shouldn't be dealt. A year ago, I would of said the Sox should of given him a long term extension at this point in his career, but now I'd probably go with a one or two year deal, unless you can sign him to an affordable deal for the next 3 to 4 years with some incentives and what not. In that case, I'd go for it cause I still think the odds are pretty good that Jon pans out. I know one thing, if JG is the teams #5 starter, the Sox should be pretty good and us fans should be pretty happy. Buy or Sell: Buy

If they are going to spend money on a hitter: Carlos Beltran or JD Drew. If that happens: Ship out one of Konerko/Lee Pitching Wise: Troy Percival and Odalis Perez
