Wow, that was a good play by Elo on that flip. Very impressive. I always get scared when a pitcher has to follow a flip that much because its easy for them to collide with the runner or tweak their ankle.

And the Sox still have Reed to slie into right field next year. I'd do that deal.

Jose can't pick a rocket to him by Aramis Ramirez. Jose did a nice job staying with it.

Sosa grounds out to 2nd.

Elo throws two straight inside. Then he goes away on a nice off speed pich and Sosa just holds up. I go back inside here. This would be a great time for a 2 seamer up and in.

Moises hit one deep to the track but Timo has room. Sosa now up with no one on. Sosa absolutely clobbered both of those homers. I'd say go in. But Elo sets up outside and paints the outside corner. bust him in, bust him in. Actually this would be a good time to knock him on his ass (not bean him, but bring it inside and have him go to the ground).

If you don't have a good defense and go up against a club like that....oh man. I'd absolutely hate playing defense against those guys, especially if your an infielder. You have to get o the ball as quick as possible and make strong accurate quick throws every time. That puts a lot of pressure on ya. The best thing you can do is have a good mix of speed and power and the Sox are close to that. Crede, Konerko, and Thomas are the only slow guys in the lineup. The Sox are also becoming better and better baserunners, although I'd like to see Miguel and Willie keep working on getting better jumps as well as Uribe.

Wow, nice play by Derrek Lee on 1st to get Jose. Maddux almost dogged it enough to 1st that Jose would of beat it out. Lee is a hell of a defensive first baseman. Great reflexes for a guy his size and such soft hands.

Plus he's signed long term. I'd s*** a brick if he was dealt, not if Maggs was dealt. I have long felt pitching wins games and wins in the playoffs and Marte is exactly what you want.

With all his speed he needs to do a lot less worrying and a lot more running. Being agressive when you have his type of speed KILLS.

Willie steals 2nd on a pitch out and then hauls ass into 3rd on the wild throw. Tremendous job Willie. When Willie figures out stealing, look out. I'd really like to see the Sox bring in someone to teach him the art of stealing. Find a veteran next year to come off the bench or something that has that type of experience or something along thoes lines. That was pretty cool play by Maddux their trying to fake out Willie. Run scores on Rowands RBI ground out. 7-4 Sox

I'd guess it just has everything to do with the fact that the Braves see Marte out there and think he could replace Smoltz next year. They probably asked and I can only hope Kenny said hell no.

Heck ya, other then his past start or two, he'd had gotten himself into a groove and still has a pretty damn respectable ERA (4.19 or so) and is just a good start or two from being back in the 3's. He's not doing what he did last year, but he isn't whast wrong with the club and I could easily see him putting it back together and really going on a role.

He was really busting the guys in, but also throwing strikes. Me likey, he's good when he goes right at em. Sure you'll get beat every once in a while, but usually if you have good mechanics and good stuff, more often then not you'll get the job done.

Elo is throwing strikes. Its absolutely huge if he can get a 1-2-3 inning here. To me there is never a bigger statement than a pitcher going out and shutting down teh other team after your offense picks up some runs for ya. I remember how when I would pitch, when my team scored runs I'd just go out and throw strikes and let them go and I could really ease into a groove and feel comfortable and get really effective. I'd just rock and fire and throw strikes and you could really get your team to stay in the game and knock the opponents out of the game.

I just want the Sox to take care of business. I've long said if they play good baseball, it doesn't matter what any other team outside of the team were playing does. Lets go Sox Lets go Titans (they are down 2-0 to Texas).

I want to see the replay. It was a tremendous throw, but it looked like Miguel was in by quite a bit. He had a tremendous jump and his head was on the bag when the tag came in or so it looked, so I'd have to think his hands definately beat the ball to the bag.

Olivo hits a routine grounder to 3rd but Aramis bobbles it and Olivo is safe at 1st. I just watn to say, watching that swing you just saw Miguel taking off hard down the basepath and then the camera pans to Ramirez who botches the ball. That is why you need to bust your ass everytime. Maybe Ramirez just botched it, but maybe he saw Olivo hauling ass down that line and thought hey, I gotta hurry, and bam, made the error. Miguel just got run up at 2nd and I thought he was safe, but a great throw by Paul Bako...absolutely perfect.

No matter what, Elo needs to come out throwing strikes next inning. Maddux just made a fantastic play on Crede.

When you think about it, he stopped pitching inside at some point last season. He was still effective, but your right, teams now are laying off of it and since he isn' pitching in they are starting to feel comfortable. He needs a few outings where he is just going out trying to get the rep of being a head hunter. Throw the damn ball in, in, and inner.
