Agreed, when you mix that with the fact that the Angels legitimately want to move Glaus and moving him and replacing him with a lefty, more role playing guy is a good fit. They can have Jose back in the lineup and he can really do the little things. I'm not a huge Jose fan, but in the Angels lineup, he'd be a great addition and Konerko can play first and is much safer from the Angels perspective. The Sox get a guy that can be a threat at the top of the order (erstad) and get dire help on the staff. Like I say, if the move Koch's 6 mill salary, then I'd look for them to add a quality reliever like Urbina (for say 3 mill...) and they would be right on budget. Plus they get a good infield prospect. Defensively this team would be slick. Sick range and gloves in the infield and still a very solid offense, imo. They would need to add a new middle infielder though (role player). I really would like this move.

This would be a fantastic deal, especially if they could move koch. We get a top prospect and fill a few needs. Of course if they move Koch, then I'd think it would become a priority to add someone like Urbina.

That was one of the first things I learned in my macro economics class. Its still running at very low numbers. So many people get scared over the deficit, but the deficit isn't something that is going to be pushed on our kids. Now if we went completely ridiculous in spending then it would. I still would love to see the deficit repaid, but sometimes things take a back burner.

My theory on Yan, who I've always liked a lot is until he proves to hit, he's somewhere in the 20 to low 30 range. Guy has tons of speed though. But his struggles after repeating at Winston Salem weren't something to write home about. I'm hoping he will put up some good numbers in Bham and get going. Defensively I saw him make a few spectacular plays (Great range), although his arm is iffy. I think he could develop into an above average defensive 2nd baseman. The entire question, like Rex said, is can he get on base.

I know I've heard a lot of mention of this working out. The government is expecting the economy to pick up and revnues to increase drastically. I would like to read an article that really sums up exactly how they are figuring the deficit will be being cut, other then predicting the economy to soar cause In my opinion, the economy isn't ready to take off like a rocket ship.

Rodriguez recently accepted a position with the Montreal Expos as their new bench coach to open up the spot for Backman. Backman lands in Lancaster after three seasons as a manager in the Chicago White Sox organization, the last two with the Class AA Birmingham Barons. In his two seasons with Birmingham, his clubs posted a 152 - 125 (.548) overall record and made the Southern League playoffs each season. In 2002, the Barons captured the Southern League championship and Backman was named the manager of the year as well as the league's Baseball America top managerial prospect. The Oregon resident began his managerial career in the independent ranks, capturing a league championship in the Western League while with Tri-City in 2000. In four seasons, Backman guided three different independent clubs before joining the White Sox organization. A former first round draft pick of the New York Mets and a member of that club's 1986 World Series Championship team, the 44-year-old played with a total of five organizations during his career before retiring in 1993. He hit .275 with 240 RBI in 1,102 career games at the big league level. You can also make the drive down to the Phoenix area and catch games there. Their are a lot of great places to hang out around ASU, etc. Southwest or American West are a few other airlines I recommend cause they usually have great rates into the Phoenix area.
