  1. We now will be playing the not so cream of the crop so if the Sox can't win here, they are in trouble. I also believe against the poorer teams is a great time to bring in a new manager because there is a bit more leeway.
  2. I just hope they each kill each other and beat up eachothers bullpens leading both to go on a 10 game losing streak.
  3. Look at Sosa and Bonds numbers, then tell me when Sosa's numbers this year come even close to theirs. I love Frank a ton, but he simply isn't cutting it and making excuses for it sounds more like a guy that knows he can't cut it. Bonds and Sosa whine, but they are still performing. Heck, look at Edgar Renteria and others, they are performing.
  4. Anyone else think Kw resigning would ease some tensions
  5. Mcphails were very influential and overall Andy is supposedly a really great baseball guy and I think many would like him to be the next comissioner of baseball. Not sure if it will happen, but we know in a few years there will be a new commish.
  6. If you watch his at bats you'll see he gets plenty of pitches to hit. This right here tells me that he just doesn't have the plate coverage he used to. I've heard some scouts have been talking about his diminished bast speed and I really think he's on the downside of what was a great career. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not going to sit around expecting him to have another MVP season.

    hey jas

Lol, it is sorry, but you can upload them from anywhere on the net. Just save it to your computer or use a hyperlink and then you can do it. Also, when you registered did you get an error that said that the user name was already taken? I found out this was happening about a week ago and have tried making some coding changes to correct it, but so far I've had no luck. I do know that when you get that error, it does register the name, so I don't have a clue why its happening.
  8. Wow, my thoughts go out to his family. Ugly, that was sad when Darr got killed in that truck crash, as well as the other player that died (I think there were two in the crash).
  9. Ya that was great. I always though South Park would get Stale, but its still funny.
  10. Its great having you all here. Hey Heads, did Haywood die sometime in the past coupe days? If so how didi it happen.
  11. I like seeing that Yofu got a start. Is he now starting or was this just because of the doubleheader? I really am interested in seeing him in Chicago sometimes this season. From what Rex and Bullard have told us he's got some great stuff. Also, Jim, havent seen ya around lately, but I hope all is well with you and that your arm is feeling good and that you keep getting better and better as a pitcher and eventually make it to the big show.
  12. I'm down for having speedy guys that can hit for avg and get on base as dh. Heck, I prefer it. I really don't think that homers win games. If you can hit for avg then it doesn't matter whether you hit a ton of homers. Angels weren't a big homerun hitting team and look where it got them.
  13. Now you'll have to join Clujer and I in complaining everytime a WCIU game is on tv. I think with the power of Socal Sox fans, they should create a WCIU Chicago out here in Socal
  14. I'll bump this for ya Steff so those who it is directed at can see it.
  15. I'm gonna have to check this stuff out.
  16. Thats what kills me Ugly. I could care less if the Cubs are winning; I have been watching the Cubs since I was a kid along with the Sox. The thing is, I never expected them to be amongst the top in the NL in runs scored and when you compare their offense to the Sox their is no way they should be doing better offensively. I understand a team overachieving, but usually those numbers even out and right now the Cubs are just impressing me at the plate. I tell you one thing, I hate the way Baker manages the pitchers, but he always gets the best out of his players.
  17. We really wanted to to to Bham too, but the drive didn't really work out, mainly because i got to get back home by the 11th of August so I can see the Sox vs the Angels. I'm so stoked for this trip though, should be awesome
  18. Welcome aboard and I couldn't agree more on your sentiments of a new coaching staff. Just don't forget to kick Gary Ward out as well. Right now I hope Ward, JM, and KW are gone, but If its going to be two out of three I'll chose Ward and KW. I also agree that this team needs changes. To be honest i get sick of thinking of all the changes we could do, cause I know they aren't going to get done. It kills me seeing this team playing the way it is. I know the talent is there and I just hope something happens and the fuel gets ignited. WAKE UP WHITE SOX
  19. I swear it sometimes amazes me how topics take on a new life, lol. Anyway, I still hope that Williams isn't the only one getting canned.
  20. It Should be Automatic that Manuel is Gone By John Gelsomino May 12, 2003 SoxNet.net The Sox have echoed this story before. We’ve heard the same excuses before. We’ve heard every reason why not to panic about this team’s lackluster start, inept situational and overall hitting, and why Jerry Manuel is not the one to blame. Well, if he isn’t, then who is? Who is responsible for making sure this team is ready to play every day? Who is responsible for lighting a fire under a sagging team? A team playing to an empty ballpark in a Dusty-crazy city? The Manuel era needs to be over. Change, not patience, is the only thing that will prod the team past this most recent downfall. It’s unfair to blame Manuel completely - the players have done little of their own to get this team off on the right foot. Paul Konerko needs to be held accountable as much as anyone; he has probably hit into more double plays then hits this year. Every big situation ends up in a ground ball and a thrown helmet. Hawk Harrelson continually says one day he’ll be amazing - the Sox are still waiting for that day. Other then the month of June last year, what has he done? Ponder that while switching gears to Carlos Lee, who still looks clueless at the plate and even bigger around the waist. I thought this guy was a hitting machine? Frank has been disappointing, but at least he has an on base percentage over .420. Maybe Ordonez and Konerko could walk once in a while instead of popping up and hitting into double plays. Aaron Rowand is finally gone, but is Willie Harris much better? He’s faster, at least … but you can’t steal first base. The pitchers have done their jobs with the exception of the “closer” Billy Koch, who has been atrocious all season. Who does he think he is, screaming at Manuel for taking him out? Didn’t he see the two ropes hit off him that inning that were hard outs? Didn’t he know Eric Chavez was licking his chops to explode on one of his 90 mile an hour fastballs? If this guy’s that ignorant, there’s no wonder why Oakland didn’t want him; they certainly don’t miss him now. So many problems, only a few solutions. Manuel needs to go, whether or not this debacle is completely his fault. You simply can’t fire 25 players. This team shows no fire, no desire; they don’t “come ready to play.” That’s a reflection of the manager. You only have to look a few miles north to see what a change at the top does for a team. Bobby Valentine would do. Maybe Wally Backman. How about Carlton Fisk? Think he would take lip from Koch? It’s surprising that a team that has bailed quickly on good managers before has become so patient with Manuel. Jim Fregosi had little room for error. Jeff Torborg may have been the worst firing in team history. Gene LaMont had two bad months with an awful team in ’95 before he was given his walking papers. Manuel has been here since ’98, and his record is slightly over .500 thanks to an impressive first half of 2000. This coup could be similar to Tony Dungy or Doug Collins getting ousted. They took young teams and built them up, but couldn’t go from point B to point C. If the Sox insist it’s not Manuel, then is it Williams, the one who essentially built this team? I don’t know… I doubt a GM is going to take that blame. Ken Williams needs to make a decision and soon before 2003 ends up resembling the last two seasons. To quote a phrase direct from White Sox lingo – “It’s Time.”
  21. Yep it amazes me every day how much the site/board has grown. Its all thanks to all the people that read the site, post on the board, etc. We got a great group here
  22. All I want to know is what the kids said. Until then, you can't judge this, imo.
  23. Yep, I'm from Orange County. We have quite a few posters from Socal. A lot of us will be representing the Sox in Anaheim and LA. You going to be at any of those games?
  24. Too bad no one on our team could hit .333
