Interesting. Deep CB draft...I think we need to draft at least 2 DB's and a TE in this draft (take advantage of the depth at those two positions in this draft).
-
Homeland really was fantastic this season.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 03:21 PM) Have at it... Fantastic.

Beautiful...beautiful...beautiful!!! Don't stop now boys!!!

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 12:25 PM) Something's very wrong - shields is somehow resembling a professional MLB caliber pitcher here He looked good in spring.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 12:17 PM) Definitely. Only 3-6 so far this year, and hit a paltry .319/.384/.514 the second half of last year. Seriously...Jose mashed the second half of last year. If anything, I'd say he made adjustments after the league slightly adjusted to him (and that was really him going from really really good to very good and then for second half of last year...back to really really good hitter).

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 09:13 AM) First off, if they're setting a rotation with fans in mind, they're playing with fire. I haven't second guessed anything this week- I've first guessed. Today should have been called. The Twins series should have been Shields, Holland, and Gonzalez. Quintana on Tuesday for the Indians home opener. Rotations change...pitching Q on normal rest makes absolute sense. He is the best pitcher on this club and you want to maximize his starts. Lots of teams skip 5th starters early in the season anyway (given the typical early season off-days).

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 09:00 AM) Homeland is excellent this year. I've always enjoyed it, but I'm liking this season more than the past few. The season finale of The Walking Dead was intense. A well-paced 90 minutes. I agree with you on both. This past episode of Homeland was really good, imo.

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 06:59 AM) Chisoxfn called last night. I wasn't at all surprised when I turned the game on in the 3rd quarter last night. Knicks go 3-1 against the Bulls. No intensity in that first half by the Bulls. I don't get it...if you can't get up at this point of the season against all teams...when will you. And they still have games against Philly and the Nets to lose.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 3, 2017 -> 02:02 PM) Rick Renteria comes off as exceedingly competent. It stood out immediately to me at spring training how much better of a manager Renteria is then Robin. So much more engaging, etc. -
Also...from Cowley (over the weekend) on Gar & Fred:
-
In other (non bulls news), Paul George put his teammates on blast over the weekend. What a horrible teammate

Some stats on Buckets (that I read elsewhere): Players in the NBA that score more and more efficiently than Jimmy: 8 Players in the NBA that score more than Jimmy and also average more Assists: 7 Players in the NBA with higher Offensive RPM than Jimmy: 7 Players in the NBA with more Offensive Win Shares than Jimmy: 2 Players in the NBA with higher clutch minute impact rating: 1 Usage is at 26% this year (which actually for a star player, is not that high (and goes against the "iso/ballhog" theory). Age: 27 Contract: Bargain

f*** it...lets make the playoffs!!! -
Sad that Grimm ended. Wife & I always enjoyed it. Walking Dead was really entertaining too. I didn't see that twist coming.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 2, 2017 -> 05:50 PM) Bulls have a cake schedule down the stretch and play the bottom 4 seeds in the east while Atlanta, Indiana, and Miami have much tougher opponents. I'd be shaking my head if they don't get at least a 7 seed. I want to see them play the Raptors in the first round just to see if we can get a 6-7 game series. Then you don't know the Bulls. They play terrible against sub .500 teams. I'd have more faith in them making the playoffs if you told me we played Golden State, San Antonio, Cleveland, Toronto and the Celtics for the remainder of the year, haha. Seriously though..I really would. It's been a couple years since a Bulls team conistently took care of business against sub .500 teams.

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 2, 2017 -> 05:17 PM) I hope chisoxfn saw that ridiculous Zipser block just now. Was awesome. Yeah, that was awesome. I'm trying to stay quiet about the Bulls...don't want to jinx what they have got going on right now. Even without great shooters, it gives you a glimpse at what Jimmy can be (and what the Bulls can be) when you actually surround Buckets with some shooters. Rondo has been fantastic. I hope they keep this up...cause I want to see playoff basketball.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 28, 2017 -> 10:34 AM) FOX should put him in the booth immediately, he's going to be a great color man. Agreed. If I were the Sox, I'd try to hire him.

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 27, 2017 -> 10:51 AM) So, Mirotic with a nice march again. Not a surprise that Butler is looking fantastic the past couple nights where he has a couple guys who can stretch the court (Niko & Zipser). Zipser isn't even great at it, but it certainly helps. Butler has had 10 or more assists in each of the past three contests for what I believe is the first time in his career. The bench is terrible, but this starting lineup has produced (albeit in a limited sample size).

I'm going to close this for the pure sake that he'll need to earn his nickname.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 27, 2017 -> 08:47 AM) This is far and I was with you until I saw 2 separate things. 1. Ben Badler linking the White Sox is a very big deal. 2. The Sox have no rumored agreements for 2017/2018 in a year in which many in the organization publicly stated that they'd be spending internationally. Go back and look at my posts. I was leading the charge on saying there was no way Sox would get him in this current period. I was assuming that they had agreements in place with guys though which clearly isn't the case. Rick Hahn has also been pretty vocal to say that just because history has said we won't do something, not to assume that means we won't in the future. He certainly seemed to be hinting at the fact that the Sox are potentially going to take a different path at the international front this year.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 26, 2017 -> 09:28 AM) At least 2 perhaps 3 of his 4 HR's have been off lefties which I consider a good sign . He also has the most AB's of any Sox player on the spring, so he is definitely being given a long look. Everything I've seen about him, the guy looks like a big leaguer (offensively). Defensively, he looked like a mess in the outfield, so I should point that out. I believe it is a relatively new position for him though. I would presume his arm is strong enough to play (given he was a 3B). I want to see what this kid can do. He's certainly making it tough for the Sox.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 27, 2017 -> 07:23 AM) Because he really hasn't proven anything, there is no need to rush him to the majors. Let him and Engel force their way on to the major league roster via Charlotte. One of them should be getting AB's at the major league level, imo. We aren't a contending club, so this is the time to see if someone can make it and May has played well enough in spring to get that chance.

QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 25, 2017 -> 02:31 PM) I'm not the biggest fan of his set up and delivery. Seems like he might struggle to have quality command I only saw his most recent two outings (in person), but he certainly had a lot of inconsistencies in his delivery. When he was warming up between innings, it was very noticeable how unrepeatable his delivery was at that point. That said, it looked like he was working on something in Thursday's game. Not sure what was going on in today's game (he was throwing his pitches, but repeatability of delivery / release point seemed to be an issue. I was sitting behind some scouts on Thursday and he was consistently hitting 96. Didn't see what he was hitting today. I was not impressed in the two outings I saw him, but again small sample size. To be honest, I think the slight hiccup is good for him because a little adversity is good for him (if he just rolled all spring...while that would be nice, it just isn't realistic...he's going to have some struggles, so why not have some now, to remphasize how hard he needs to work in the minors.

Again...his swing looks good. That HR was crushed today. I don't know how he can hit off speed stuff / outside pitches, but he's crushed some inside pitches.
