  1. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 04:15 PM) Think Bynum's attitude could throw up a red flag. Just a guess. It might throw up a red flag, but its significantly better then the heap of garbage they'd be getting from the Nets and the other teams involved. The guy was the best center in the NBA this past year and is incredibly young. He's got issues but he's a bonafide superstar.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 03:40 PM) again, that makes 1st rounders from the Nets and the Clippers, neither of whom will be close to the lottery in the next 4 seasons if this trade happens. I know orlando is trying to get something, but this is just a huge pile of s***. The owner needs to flog himself for buying into Dwights change of heart last season Why not go after Bynum. You might not be able to resign him but at least he's a stud center and he wants to be "the guy".
  3. On paper, this is the most excited I've been about a draft class in years. I hope the excitement pays off.

QUOTE (OilCan @ Jul 7, 2012 -> 08:33 AM) Goldstein is quickly becoming another Keith Law in my book. His tweets would disparage anyone who debates him. I guess Wins doesn't equal "Impact Guys" in his book, does it? Guess what Q is doing doesn't "Impact" the team. Same goes for Jones, Reed, etc. I guess it just makes their job(s) HARDER to actually rate talent based off of more than what's on the back of their baseball card. Hope the White Sox continue to show these idiots that they're wrong. Isn't Goldstein a Sox fan. Or am I confusing him with one of the other minor league baseball experts?

QUOTE (MnSoxFan @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 11:50 AM) We took a kid from a Texas HS, hard thrower with poor knees, in about the 4th or 5th round. Not Heidenreich, let me see if I can find it, something like Niedenfeur?? Matthew J Nachreiner, 5th rounder in 2003 is who I bet he is thinking of. Yep. He had no cartilage in his knees. Was a very high risk/high reward kind of pick. Tremendous arm and stuff, major medical red flag, and he ultimately didn't pan out.
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 7, 2012 -> 01:57 PM) realllllllllyyyy Until he actually signs the offer, the Bulls can trade him. Once he signs, then at that point the clock to match actually starts, and during that time the Bulls can't trade him. They also can't trade him to the Rockets. Edit: Jake, gotcha. My misinterpretation.
  7. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 05:20 PM) I'm like 99% sure you can't trade a guy once he signs an offer sheet. You are right. But he hasn't signed anything officially until the 11th or 13th. I forget which, so technically, the Bulls can trade him still.
  8. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 01:14 PM) There's some grumblings that the Bulls might match the Asik offer. Shoot me in the f***ing eyeball if that happens. Best case scenario for the Bulls is to deal Asik before he actually signs the deal. Otherwise, if they ink him, they have to hold him for a year. The key is if they keep him, they'd have to move him prior to when Gibson becomes due (cause Gibson is far more valuable). Bulls screwed up. They should have moved Asik at the deadline, but no one could have known that Rose would end up going down (and a team expecting to win a title isn't going to trade a guy like Asik). What the Bulls need to do is start figuring out ways to get salary cap exceptions via trade (like the Lakers did when the dealt Odom). Those can come in extremely handy when you are over the cap (as long as you are willing to potentially be willing to pay some tax).
  9. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 09:54 AM) Dallas fans are going nuts. In my extreme pipedream, Dirk gets restless too and Bulls trade for him at midseason. Yeah. The problem with Dirk is the Bulls might be solid this year, but really, they are a year away from being able to contend again. Getting Dirk could make the Bulls a contender next year and the following year, but after that they are in trouble. Dwight would put them in a spot that they could do it next year, but then in the following years they would be legit. Worse case I'd structure the deal where if Dwight walks, you'd clear cap space and could make other moves. Be ballsy and just try and win Dwight over when he's here. To be frank, staying with the status quo doesn't do the Bulls any good, so might as well do this.
  10. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 08:41 PM) With how the FA market has been playing off so far, any chance Bulls get Howard on a last minute desperate ALL IN decision to compete (on both sides)? about the only real impact move the Bulls could make, which would make me feel really good about the squad going forward, is getting Howard. I don't think it will happen, but part of me says, screw it, go all in and hope he'll sign later on. Do the Bulls lose out the ability to offer a longer deal to Dwight then anyone else, since he wouldn't spend a full year with the team?
  11. Good, low risk move. See if our coaching and different voices/change of scenery can help him succeed. Lefties that can get that fastball into the mid 90's don't grow on trees (albeit it sounds like his velocity is all over the map).
  12. I'd add a vet reliever for the right price, but to be honest, I'm relatively content with the roster as is.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 02:56 PM) Billups reportedly back to the Clippers. Along with Jamaal Crawford.
  14. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 01:43 PM) And could we throw stuff at him? Hopefully the Sox hold off on the gloating until they win 95+ games en route to a world series title! Either way, I'm enjoying this season one day at a time. After a couple consecutive frustrating years, this year has been great thus far.
  15. Happy Bday Ernsty!!!
  16. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 01:28 PM) feels good to suddenly - with one friggin move - put yourselves over the top into legitimate contention. Kenny Williams, thank you for Kevin Youkilis. If Youk is healthy, that move might be what put the Sox over the top. I feel so much better about this team with Youk. Now lets stay healthy and get the rest of our guys back.
  17. Lets keep this up White Sox!!!
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 4, 2012 -> 09:24 AM) The contrast between the Hawks and Bulls is amazing. The Hawks are out there chasing the top guys on the market. The Bulls are chasing Kirk Hinrich. Not sure I get this. Bulls went big when they had money to spend. They don't have it now. Really there is nothing they can do.
  19. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 4, 2012 -> 01:39 PM) He hasn't been that great this year though defensively. He has lost a step range wise and isn't getting to as many balls as he should. Sure, he still makes the GG play here and there, but so much of being a great SS is making the normally hard plays look routine. I have been a huge supporter of Alexei, but it's clear he is a bottom five SS this year in the AL. The stats back that up, both defensively and offensively. Jeter wins the GG every year based on naked-eye scouting. People see him make the great plays. But the metrics show he sucks. There is no way anyone is going to convince me that Alexei is one of the 5 worse shortstops in baseball. Even as bad as he's been as a whole, he's one of the 10-15 best shortstops and if his past month is an indication and he does his normal thing, by year end, he'll be one of the 7 best. And defensively he's still one of the best.
  20. I wonder if that changes given the fact that Axelrod threw a decent amount of pitches last night.
  21. I like it. Young, toolsy. Long way away, but seems to have some upside.
  22. Relatively high pick too.
  23. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 12:32 PM) Do I care about the whole Ozzie "quit" on the Sox thing? No. Do I think Ozzie is a huge douche, not worth the headache, and a sub par baseball manager? Certainly. I eccho those sentiments. PS: Despite some rumors, my account was not hacked.
  24. QUOTE (Tdog32 @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 10:10 AM) Good luck Brian! -B Warn Very cool; I assume they are sending Axelrod down.
