  1. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 06:08 AM) Some customer service you guys have around here. BAM
  2. You could do far worse than Michael Young. The problem is his contract is massive. I would gladly take Young if you were only on the hook for anywhere between 6-8 million a season. I say that because Young would be a very stabilizing bat towards the top of the order. He still isn't a true leadoff hitter though (rather a good 2 hitter). I also think he'd be an above average defensive 2nd baseman and if Ramirez is awful at SS you could always play him there. The problem is I can't see the Rangers sending that much cash a teams way without that team giving up some significant prospects and I don't see the value in doing that. I also will admit that if you are going to go 6-8M you might as well just up it and take Furcal (albeit Young is a much better bet to remain healthy).
  3. Sounds like Furcal to the Dodgers for 3yrs 30M.
  4. That is a steal of a deal and I'm pissed the Sox wouldn't make that sort of offer. You know, they've just had a f***ing need at the top of the order for every year except one since Durham was dealt away (and that was when Pods had his great 05 season).
  5. This makes no sense unless the Braves are going to acquire Peavy. I know one thing, I'd absolutely love to have Escobar and I'd trade Dye straight up for him (simply because I value middle infielders with his ability and upside). And no way is Furcal going to play 2B.
  6. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 15, 2008 -> 09:51 AM) Auburn didn't get a share of the national championship when they went undefeated. Your right...it was USC that split it with LSU huh.
  7. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Dec 13, 2008 -> 05:02 PM) C'mon Jason, tell me that was simply a shot at Heads? Chizik was a highly regarded defensive coordinator at both Auburn and Texas. How many coaches do you know that are going to win immediately at Iowa State? (maybe that was a shot at Heads, but not intended to be) It's a shot at Auburn too. I'm not knocking Chizik, he was a good hire for Iowa State. The key is Iowa State. Auburn is only a few years removed from being a split national champion and forced out a guy that did a pretty darn good job only to hire someone that has never proven anything at the head coaching level.
  8. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 15, 2008 -> 01:27 AM) The Bears may have a shot Screw u too Knight.
  9. QUOTE (rangercal @ Dec 14, 2008 -> 04:52 PM) You SOB. I was like what...Dave Toub? Either way I was too excited over Babich to go see the hyperlink.
  10. I love DJ and I'm glad he's staying with the organization.
  11. Wow...5-19 and you get hired to be Auburn's coach. WTF?
  12. So I bought Wi Fitness for my mom for Christmas and now I need to find a good deal on a WII (which is what I'm getting myself). Anyone have any recommendations. I'd probably want all the nunchecks and that jazz too cause I plan on using it mainly as a family type of game system.
  13. I'd take a chance on Brazoban if he's healthy. Power arm who has at times had success at the major league level.
  14. How is Rose in a better spot. The Bulls get great attendance.
  15. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 11:15 PM) If we get younger and more athletic with Mr. Morales then this team will be really sexy to watch. The man has nothing to prove in the minors anymore and he is another Cuban who will fit right in. I'm honestly surprised that the Angels have soured on him so much. Give them either guy, then trade the other for all I care, let the youngins play. A first baseman who can probably steal 10+ bases himself... awesome. EDIT: Not sure if this is true, Jas can probably chime in, but I heard he can play first base, third base and the outfield. I'd say Morales is strictly a 1B and could potentially play Left field but aside from that you'd be pushing it.
  16. Pinned for your viewing pleasure.
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 01:42 PM) They do have a good closer in waiting however. I dont see them really targeting any of our guys for the pen. Arrodondo is being groomed for the closer spot but they are initially going to go with Shields or a closer by comittee. They are also in the market to pick up a reliever and while the Sox could offer one I don't see them trading a reliever in addition to Dye unless they are getting something significant in return (ie, Morales, a pitcher (Weaver or Adenhart) and Figgins). Obviously that is a pretty one-sided deal for the Sox so I can't see it happening (unless of course they wanted Jenks...but again I don't think the Angels would want to re-acquire him given the history).
  18. QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 01:39 PM) Not going to happen, but I'd love to have Weaver. I wonder if they'd also give up Shields. The Angels are in the market for relievers now that Frankie is gone and they won't be trading Shields. Plus Shields is on the downside of his career, imo, as the heavy innings and games pitched totals are starting to wear him out.
  19. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 01:19 PM) Have to think Adenhart is off the block, but Weaver is a potential get. Kendry Morales should be available in a Paulie deal, and of course there is Figgins I guess. At this point I'd say no to Figgins and ask for prospects. Jordan Walden may be a target of KW. I would be willing to deal Paulie for a young starting pitcher and Kendry Morales. Weaver would be the most likely as I think the Angels like him the least out of the guys currently slated in the rotation. Adenhart is pretty valuable and I'd imagine he'd be untouchable but you might be able to get him if the Angels were desperate enough. Figgins could also be doable but he's older, relies on speed, has injury issues and is due to become a free agent so I think targeting a pitcher would make a bit more sense. You'd also probably be able to pick up Willits and take a chance.
  20. QUOTE (wsgdf_2 @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 11:10 AM) The obvious question would be "why would a team trade for Dye when they could keep their prospects and sign Abreu?" I think the team trading for Dye would want him because for there team they might potentially see him as an upgrade and this will assure them of getting there guy. There is no sure fire way of knowing that you are going to land one of the FA outfielders. The Reds are the type of team that would have a hard time convincing Abreu or Burrel to leave a winning organization. Lots more money might make a difference but it doesn't sound as if the Reds are in that position. The Dodgers would have to think that route but if they lost Manny, they'd be looking more for a middle of the order run producer and Dye might be the best fit.
  21. Derek Rodriguez has a pretty projectable arm. I don't think he'll stick with Tampa though and will eventually be returned.
  22. On a sidenote, I believe the Sox having an inside track has everything to do with Ozzie's relationship with Abreu and doesn't necessarily have to do with the Sox making any significant overtures at this point. I don't think Kenny will have told Abreu his plans this early cause it could leak out and Kenny doesn't want to get burned like he did last year.
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 09:27 AM) Thats a good point as well. We already know that Danks is slated for the MLB level in 2-3 years and can play CF, but most likely at one point will end up in the corner. By that time Q will have been a mainstay in RF. Danks and Shelby might very well be those guys.
  24. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 09:00 AM) Personally, I think Bobby Abreu would be a much more valuable bat to our offense than JD. I tend to agree. He would be a tremendous #2 hitter.
  25. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 06:58 AM) I think he has some type of serious injury, from what I have read on here anyway. I think you are confusing Hernandez with Donny Lucy.
