Some guys in Kanny are looking promising. The Dash figured to struggle some this year, but it's really rough right now.

What exactly has Ventura done to earn an extension? He ran a clubhouse that was nothing but a clown act for 3 years. Williams had to play the heavy in the Laroche situation. The clubhouse finally got serious, but not because of Ventura. And his decision making has never been what one would call state-of-the-art.

He very well may be turning it around. He has talent. Sometimes it takes time. We'll see. Even elite players like Todd Frazier didn't pull it together until 25 or 26.

This is clearly the year to take a big plunge into the international markets. This is where to spend the Laroche windfall. can't say I'm surprised they have no interest in doing that. Building an org. isn't part of the' contrived "2 year window".

At least Gonzales and Johnson showed something - good K numbers - may be something to work with. neither pitched the Sox out of the game (maybe it was lucky they didn't, but they didn't). Carroll has an ERA in excess of 12 and a WHIP in excess of 3 in Charlotte. Ridiculous.

And the answer is Trayce Thompson, Avisail Garcia, Marcus Semien. What is name 3 players out-hitting the "elite" Todd Frazier, Alex. But please trade 4 more young players for another proven veteran, Kenny Hahn. Even though it is a proven counterproductive strategy, it gives fans temporary succor and allows them to "dream again"

I can't figure out who to root for in the Central, other than the Twins. So I guess beating each other up is the best thing for the Sox.

Look at the Mariners. Prior GM adds Cano and Cruz and do nothing. New GM works around the edges, fixes the defense and pen, and they're good again. San Diego last year acquired all sorts of downside veterans, cleaning out the farm in the process. Board favs like Kimbrall, Kemp...can't go wrong. Well, they stunk. Boston added Panda and Ramirez and they blew. Sat one, put the other at first, and used young players, and they contend again. They added Price, and he's stunk. The Sox this year...the big differences are Lawrie and Jackson - fixing the defense and adding some incremental offensive improvement. And yet the lust to trade everything for the "star" goes on unabated.

I thought they cut Suiter. Maybe I misread that.

Heck, look what happened to the Astros after their acquisition of 2 "Elite" pieces, who suddenly aren't so elite.

Sox offensive weakness is the 2 hole...they need someone who can get on base. While longing for the Sox to decimate the farm to acquire the next over the hill or bad-splits slugger, no one seems bothered about Rollins' .636 OPS in the 2 hole (if he were a rookie instead of 38 people would be going crazy about it). That's one less runner for Abreu and Frazier (hopefully) to drive in. Now they could correct that to some extent by moving Lawrie to the 2 hole, but they'd lose something in the mid-back of the order.

Low batting average and high walks...and when they come to the Sox, they keep the low batting average and forget how to walk. 36 and in decline. It's sure to work this time.

Bassit is a back of the rotation guy. His absence "hurts" is because we're auditioning a few guys for 5th starter likely worse than he is. (and because we went a long time with Danks and Noesi). But, not he's not great talent. This all in stuff for a "star" is generally a poor and losing approach and the net return for the Sox on those trades is atrocious (and yet the Sox keep making them). Gio was the only really good pitcher. Hudson was really good, but got hurt. The next may be Chris Deveniski (sent packing in yet another poorly conceived Williams trade). And the plus side is of the Shark trade is that we have ceiling on our side. Although the odds are slim, we could hit it big with this draft choice.
