2015 White Sox draft pick discussion
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 07:59 PM) The guy I would like is Carson Fulmer, and it will definitely be close if he makes it to the Sox's pick. None of the hitters really wow me at all - as far as college hitters. And I have ZERO faith in the Sox taking a high school bat and developing him into an MLB bat, so to me it becomes take the BPA between a college arm and a high school arm. And I think it Fulmer is the BPA. He is having a terrific year in the SEC and has electric stuff. Many worry about his size and durability, but I have still yet to see any study (maybe there is one, I honestly have no idea) that finds any correlation or causation between a pitcher's size and his ability to stay healthy. There just seems to be an assumption that if you are not 6'3" and 220, you are destined for the bullpen because you aren't built like the prototypical pitcher. The problem is his delivery. He makes Sale look smooth. Are there no quality college bats available at this pick that wouldn't be a reach?

4/29: Sox vs Orioles, WPWR50, free MLB.com, 1PM
I don't hold Ventura responsible because player X or player Y has a bad game. I hold him responsible for managerial decisions and overall leadership. As for Shark, yet another in the long, largely ugly, list of Kenny Williams' veteran "ace starters" he has to go out and trade young players to get (or order Hahn to do it), coupled with a little dab of "we'll show those cubbies".

QUOTE (LDF @ Apr 27, 2015 -> 07:47 PM) am i wrong in thinking, that Mitchell should be in that group??? Mitchell already fell through the floor.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 27, 2015 -> 03:24 PM) I would bet anything Hahn wouldn't do that. He would be insane to do that. Salary works both ways. Yes, you should ignore salary and cut the player if the player simply can't play. But you don't give the player away for nothing if he's producing just because he's overpaid. The Sox aren't exactly teeming in starters. Okay, we may have 6 now that we brought (rushed?) Rodon up. 6 isn't much cusion. And if Danks repeats Sunday's performance a few times, they might be able to trade him for something if they're out of it in July.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 27, 2015 -> 02:29 PM) Would you take a chance with him? I know for one I wanted him a couple off seasons ago. No Enough with terrible veterans.

Who can the Sox acquire?
QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 08:19 PM) Too early, I know, but not too early to know there are some holes that need a fillin'. What say you? I say you can't force things. Paying out the wazzu for one hero, much less loading up with 35 year old "proven" veterans, won't make the difference. Some of the moves over the winter were premature. The foundation isn't complete. As for Lucroy, his offense is excellent...for a catcher. But you pay a ridiculous premium for that offense from a catcher. Much better to accept catcher as an offensive hole, and use the resources to improve other areas that can be improved more efficiently.

4/24-26 - The Pale Hose vs. The Team That Inspired Lorde's Angst
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 24, 2015 -> 08:15 PM) It makes sense but I hate it. Especially that early. Let Melky hit. Runners are speedy. I can't see much sense in ordering automatic outs in front of Abreu, especially when the 2 hole hitter is the 2nd to best hitter. Ventura is managing scared.

Robin Ventura has lost his mind. How in the world do you bunt there. You give an automatic out to your 2nd to best hitter so Abreu can single them in? Madness

Was I wrong about this Team?
Maybe shake up the lineup a bit

Carlos Rodon's Major League Debut
QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 10:21 PM) Not ready. Bad situation to bring him in. Get his ass back to Charlotte for 8 starts, and then talk. And Robin stinks. +1000 on all counts.
-
Carlos Rodon's Major League Debut
My thoughts are a)I don't know why the braintrust in the dugout picked a high leverage situation for his first appearance. b)I don't know why the Sox called him up anyway considering his poor last outing in Charlotte and to just use in the bullpen.

Should Sanchez Replace Johnson?
No, but you have to give young players a chance. And if this mess doesn't straighten out in 2 months, Sanchez should replace Alexei.

4/19 - Sox vs Tigers
Is there a reason he's left in for a full 94 pitches to throw softballs?

Rodon Joining Sox Tomorrow - Working out of Bullpen (Initially)
Do not like

4/18 - White Sox vs Tigers
Drabek needs to be sent down. If someone claims him, they claim him. Can't use a bullpen spot to hide a player. As for Crain, yall are howling at the moon if you think a mid 30s pitcher who hasn't pitched in nearly 2 years is coming back as the Crain we knew

4/17 Games
Wendelkin also is posting a lot of Ks without giving up many hits or any runs. One to watch

Ventura on his job status
He was out by a mile. Not even close. I don't know what Alexei did, but he should have been in Ventura's face to challenge because he had to have known he was out. As for Ventura.....

4/17 - White Sox vs Tigers
Why is Bonifacio starting at 2nd? Johnson needs to play every day. I have never seen an organization love its medicore declining veterans like this organization.

Jordan Gurrero Yikes! If you're an opposing batter.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 14, 2015 -> 09:50 PM) The classic AAAA pitcher. A shame too. He's got great stuff. AAAA pitchers usually don't have the stuff he has.

Third Base and Catcher
The Sox don't have the depth of prospects to trade. That said, we traded FOUR for a 1 year rent of Shark. None elite, but of the 4, 2 are on Oak's roster and 2 are in their top 10 prospects list. And it's not just trading prospects - people want to trade them for their heroes, even if they have reached their peak. And then they don't want to trade the Sox heroes. This idea of "All in" for 2015 was silly from the start, and I'm glad the Sox didn't buy in (even though I didn't much like trading for a 1 year rent) They key to fixing this team this offseason will be not only Rodon, but also Montas, Danish, Johnson and Sanchez. I wouldn't be surprised for some of those guys to be in the pen in 2015, if only temporarily. But if they develop, it will allow us to trade heroes in the offseason to shore up weaknesses. Heroes such as Quintana and Ramirez.

4/12 - Twins vs White Sox
The clowning on the basepaths has been a constant for 3 seasons.

Ron Gardenhire
Ventura just didn't have any experience when he took the job. The problem isn't that he's not "emotional" enough. Don't need fossils like Gardenhire or hothead heroes like Gibson. Just an manager who has a strong resume on ML benches and who has the leadership and personality to handle a ML team....for the next time we're in need of a manager.

Can Coop still fix 'em
Coop is going to have a couple of challenges this year. the one that will be coming soon is turning Noesi or Danks into a bullpen pitcher. I would lean toward Danks (although we need a righty in the pen more) because he just can't seem to go beyond 5 IP effectively in the last couple of years. He hasn't had a lot of talent to work with. Guys like Veal and Cleto throw hard and strike guys out, but just haven't got the control or command
