Ethier cannot hit lefties. IF last year was an anomaly (big IF), he's a platoon player. He's 32 - ignore decline at your risk. The enduring love for declining veterans is beyond me If we're trading Alexei, trade him for the best package of young players that we can get.

There's nothing to lament here. The Sox have a rotation that includes Carroll, Noesi and Danks. What good young pitcher(s) with years of team control did yall want the Sox to trade for 1 year of Heyward? Quintana and Danish for Heyward and the middle reliever? Or maybe Montas and Danish for Heyward by himself? Teams like the Cards can trade for rents. Teams like the Sox cannot (or at least should not).

1 bullpen pitcher, fine. But don't sign 2 high priced bullpen pitchers. our O, D and starting pitching need a lot of work.
