Hermy having some control issues...

Come on, Frank, give us all a game to remember...

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 10:34 PM) You get my vote for soxtalk rookie of the year. Jesus Christ, get the f*** outta here. Come on, Dustin...

I'll tell ya... screw trading Everett, screw trading Thomas -- find a taker for Konerko, move Everett to first, and let's go from there.
-
I don't know whoever calls the pitches for Marte -- sometimes it looks like Marte just throws whatever he feels like throwing -- but whoever called for a high fastball that isn't above Hafner's head in that situation deserves to be slapped.

QUOTE(kman @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 07:57 PM) wtf u piece if shaite Can you please post in English? Thanks.

Ick. I hate the leadoff hitter first ball hunting... Nice, Gooch!

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 07:09 PM) Its gonna rain there pretty soon, I'd say within 45 minutes or so. http://www.intellicast.com/Local/USLocalWi...v=none&pid=none Click the "animate" feature and watch the storms blow up out of no where. It could get nasty by the time it gets to the ballpark. Hopefully, Mark can get through five innings quickly, with the Sox scoring one run off of a solo homer.

Forgive me for saying something nice about our manager, but I like today's lineup.
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 06:11 PM) Carl Everett was on pace for about 25 HR and 100 RBIs playing everyday. He was doing the job, all except for OBP. Personally, his .729 OPS heading into today doesn't do it for me, especially considering he'd be our #3 hitter (if this hypothetical trade went down).

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 06:08 PM) The question is, when will Frank Thomas hit like Frank Thomas, and how long can we afford to wait for that? Still, though, I think Thomas at his worst (and I'm expecting something like .250/.370 out of him) are better than anything Everett does for us -- IMO. But, I certainly don't expect Thomas to put up the numbers he was putting up the first half of last year...

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 06:04 PM) I find it somewhat humorous that so many Sox fans would be pissed if Frank were traded. I know trading Frank isn't likely because of his contract, injuries, etc. But the club has the best record in baseball without him. If trading him was viable and the club would keep winning, why would fans balk? Do Sox fans not really want a winner?? Dbaho, this isn't aimed directly at you. Just at the mindset that many seem to carry that Frank is an untouchable icon. If dealing Frank helps the Sox win, I say deal him yesterday! Personally, I don't see the Sox winning like this without a bat like Thomas' back in the lineup on a daily basis. I think our lineup goes from below average to above average just by having #35 in the middle of the lineup, but that's JMO.

QUOTE(SEALgep @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 04:16 PM) I'm just pointing out that you haven't considered all there is to consider. You have your mind made up, and that's great. However, the team has been put together well by management, as you point out that you recognize. Isn't there a chance that there is legitmate reasoning to this? How many at bats has Willie gotten this year? He's an everyday player. I don't think it's such a funny notion to want to give him more playing time when we are able to call him back if needed. Try being open minded Bub. They want to give him more playing time? So, they're sacrificing contributions to the major league team so a 26 or 27 year old can get consistent AB's? I don't buy it. I'm callin' BS. And, You tried making an argument for Timo "winning" us two games. Well, If you want to use that nonsensical bulls***, I can just as easily make an argument for Timo losing for us several games. It goes both ways, bud...
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 05:33 AM) You're gonna blame Timo for being thrown into a position he's never played before, cmon now, the same thing happened to Ross last year too. Oh yeah and if it wasn't for Timo we might have lost 2 of 3 to Anaheim. Timo doesn't get that AB if not for Harris' walk. There's no reason -- none -- for keeping T.I.M.O over Harris.
-
QUOTE(SEALgep @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 03:04 AM) Winning is so overrated. When are people going to realize that the true determining characterisitics of a good manager is their choice for the final utility spot. LOL. You said Timo himself won us two games this year, when, the game he hit the homer in Minny, we went on to score three more runs after the homer. Yet, I guess if Timo hadn't hit that homer, we wouldn't have scored any runs, huh? And, if he doesn't f*** up at first base, we sweep Anahiem. Timo sucks.
-
QUOTE(SEALgep @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 02:34 AM) Again, no one is considering the X factors that may exist in this decision. X-Factors? What? Is his OBP of under .300 last year, and this year, an X-Factor? Is his ability to play a s***ty first-base an x-factor? Mercy, Perez is one of the worst players in all of baseball, and he's making a million f***ing bucks. It's such a joke that he's on our major league team. Give me a f***ing break, this would be such a terrible, God awful move. And, I guess it proves that performance doesn't mean a damn thing, because Harris has played so much better than Perez has.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 07:21 AM) Can someone post how many fans we've drawn so far this season, compared to this time last year? Check out Cheat's blog. We're up something like 10% from last year, and haven't even played New York/Boston/Cubs. He's got some nice graphs that illustrates it. Oh, and Timo sucks.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 04:54 AM) With the 15th selection in the 2005 Major League Baseball Draft, the Chicago White Sox select RHP Wade Townsend out of the University of Rice. (bring forward your props peoples).

Gload's bat + arm >>>>>>>>>>>>> Timo's bat + arm.

If Jermaine could play SS for a half an inning, couldn't he give 1B a shot? Oddly enough, Dye or Everett or Thomas aren't the problems offensively right now -- Konerko is. ...then again, I see he had two hits tonight. I don't give a damn where he bats, Thomas needs to be in the lineup daily.
-
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 03:21 AM) Fact is he's right and that's how most White Sox fans were thinking during the game. Brantley b****ed out Ozzie for not taking Buehrle out of a game in which he was cruising and at 91 pitches. He's obnoxious and annoying.

To change the subject for a moment, the concert was really awesome last night. He broke out with Crash, Grey Street, Warehouse, Watchtower, and all the good s*** from the new CD, including his version of Time of the Season. My first concert ever was really a treat.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 07:53 PM) Alex Cora who is hitting .230 in a crowded infield. I can't believe people here actually wanted to pay $2 million bucks to do what Willie Harris and Pablo Ozuna do for a combined $600K. I think I was part of the David Eckstien contingent, however...
-
QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 04:51 PM) I know Ozzie is Ozzie, and there is not much method to his madness some time. But what bothered me the most about the loss two days back is why was Uribe allowed to hit with Paulie on the bench? Yes, Uribe has been the better hitter this year (not that it means much when compared to paulie), but given we were down 3, and a double would have tied the game and a HR would have won the game, why was Paulie not used as a PH there. We could have always replaced Uribe with Willie at SS and inserted Gooch for 2B. Anyone? Uribe missed a game-winning grand slam by five feet. Konerko would have had no chance against K-Rod, the way he's started off this season. Juan got a hanging pitch, hit it, but was just a tenth of a second too quick. Move on to Cleveland.

QUOTE(Soxaholic @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 08:30 PM) This is all nice talk but the bottom line is it's ALL FUELED BY PARANOIA over one thing: we havent seen the real Paul Konerko yet. We all forget very easily. He's still one of the top 10 1B in the majors, see: www.cbs.sportsline.com/mlb/playerrankings/regularseason/1B Chavez cant say the same about his position: see same page LET'S HAVE SOME PATIENCE! He only had 41 HRs and 117 RBIs last year We cant have both Chavez AND Konerko next year. And let's hope that if it's one or the other, it's Chavez...
