Albert Pujols' extension - Cards fail to extend by deadline
Rooftop Shots replied to chisoxfan09's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Feb 6, 2011 -> 12:04 PM) The naive stupid part of me wants to think he will take 6/180 or 7/210 just to get a higher yearly average than ARod. But hey that just me... And you can never count out the BoSox or Yanks getting into the bidding id he does indeed make it to FA. After what Boston added this year with AGon and Crawford to what they already had, and then to add Pujols in the lineup? Man that is just beyond the realm of scary! Those guys would make that Bugs Bunny cartoon with the goons batting around the order a reality waiting in the wings. -
If you want to play hide and seek with Marty Feldman, stand right in front of him and he will never find you. Comedian David Brenner

Sheesh! As you look at the first basemen on that list, if you take ONLY the healthy parts that still remain on each of them, pull them off, and then glue them all together, you may be able to construct One Healthy Body! I call it "The Mister Potato Head Kit" of free agent firstbasemen.

Sox have been trying to extend Danks for 2.5 years
Rooftop Shots replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
After all of the money that we just dished out, the only way that I can see us giving Danks a big contract is if we at least go deep into the playoffs. We'll still have a good core for the following year, and some guarateed seats being full, as fans will have more confidence in what we have already set for the following year. . That.....along with Buehrle possibly being gone, the money would be there along with him being a lefty as a big incentive. -
If the name Phil Rogers is attached, then the baseball advice that is given by him is about as useful as digging out the recent snowmageddon with your kids sandbox shovel. Alexie is "free-swinger" Until he learns more plate discipline, there is no way that he should bat leadoff. You want someone to leadoff and get on base "Any" way as possible. WALKS included. Alexei......patient at the plate?....NOT! Walk a lot?? NOT! A possible league leader in base stealing to get in scoring position for the heart of the lineup....NOT YET! Phil Rogers...........Stick with giving advice to your kids on which dice to roll when they are playing Yahtzee, and stay away from baseball. PLEASE!!!!

QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 29, 2011 -> 12:41 AM) I like your ideas, but we want to keep it as positive as possible so, some of those wouldn't really work. I totally agree with you . Just wanted to throw out some brainstorm suggestions to bounce around and chew on. One idea that is not so good, can sometimes spark an idea in a totally different direction that maybe wasn't even thought of yet. Sounds pretty cool what you are putting together. Looking forward to the results when it is finished and everything is tallied up! Looks like something that a lot of painstaking effort is going to be done on your part just in doing the backlogging research to come up with winners for these categories, let alone adding even more. Good luck!

Hello all! I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a detailed seating chart that is available for The Cell. What I am looking for is mainly how many seats are in each row and which of the numbers on those seats are the aisle seats. (Also when looking at the chart, do the numbers go 1 through 10 left to right, or vise versa?) A lot of the rows have the same amount of seats, but many that are behind home plate and in the outfield corners vary to a great degree. The reason that I am asking is that I have 2 trashed knees and NEED to sit in an aisle seat when I go to a game. After 32 years of intense physical labor on my job, I was let go last January due to longer being able to perform my duties at the intensity that was required, and am now currently on disability. (Too long to explain why replacements are not an option).(Them "you know what's" also burned me out of my 5 weeks vacation pay that I had coming as well) Anyway... Because of no longer being able to work, and finances being what it is, I am VERY limited on being able to go to games, so when I do go for tickets, I NEED to be assured that I am getting an aisle seat. Sometimes vendors will say seats 5-6 or 7-8 or 11-12 etc, and that doesn't tell me a whole lot when I look at the Cell seating chart as to whether it is an aisle, and if it is an aisle, then is it the one that faces the outfield....or home plate? Thanks! Any help or info would be appreciated! Tom

QUOTE (The Baconator @ Jan 17, 2011 -> 10:50 PM) So is this '30 recap' new this year? I imagine they will still do the 30 in 30 like last year and that will start up in March again? Not sure if this is new this year. Don't remember seing it last year. I hope they have the 30 in 30 again........and this time not leave The White Sox next to last on the list.
-
On the MLB network, they have segments on Hot Stove called 30 clubs 30 recaps. Each day they recap each team from last year and this year. Cannot find a schedule on which day The White Sox will be hosted as well as other teams that will be recapped and on which dates? Anybody know where to find a schedule?

Kind of thought that they would sign him again. Not only because he possibly could be another left handed bat threat in th lineup, but you also have to wonder how much revenue will get pulled in when he hits # 600. Of course, not even a smidgen of his salary, but enough to jam more in the stands (even standing room only)and sell a ton of memorabilia. baseballs, posters, framed/autographed prints of "the shot!" They might even have something to sell with pictures of him and Killebrew together....who knows?? "The Past" and "The Blast"! Either way, it's going to help the Twins in some aspects of his salary.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 24, 2010 -> 01:13 PM) To Whom it May Concern.... Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, our best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasions and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. In addition, please also accept our best wishes for a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2011, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make this country great (not to imply that this country is necessarily greater than any other country or area of choice), and without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual orientation of the wishers. This wish is limited to the customary and usual good tidings for a period of one year, or until the issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first. "Holiday" is not intended to, nor shall it be considered, limited to the usual Judeo-Christian celebrations or observances, or to such activities of any organized or ad hoc religious community, group, individual or belief (or lack thereof). Note: By accepting this greeting, you are accepting these terms. This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal, and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher at any time, for any reason or for no reason at all. This greeting is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. This greeting implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for the wisher her/himself or others, or responsibility for the consequences which may arise from the implementation or non- implementation of it. This greeting is void where prohibited by law. My gosh! If that so called "politically correct" message was writren off of the top of your head, then it's pretty impressive to come up with all of the terms and quotes and all of the legality with it. I'll keep it short and non-politacally correct. Merry christmas and happy New Year.

QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Dec 21, 2010 -> 02:45 AM) I always think the commercials for Giordano's are very bad. The commercials makes the food look like s*** and the owner of Giordano's looks ridiculous every time he holds up that tomato. To make matters worse, he started wearing a really bad toupee. In the older commercials, there were lots of "regular" people doing a really bad job of acting, I even remember seeing some chick take a bite of something then raise her arms up in a "yay!" victory pose. And in the newer commercials with the owner wearing the bad toupee, the food they show looks like home-made food in aluminum trays rather than restaurant-quality food displayed on plates. Really bad presentations. :-/ Agree on everything. I especially hate that guy's reaction when they lift up the first piece that was cut and the gooey cheese stretches out and he says......... "WOOOOOOOOOOOW! (Hey Mr. white collar "I need to make this look good on camera even though I could care less about the friggin' pizza"...............SHUT UP ALREADY! )

QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 12, 2010 -> 10:36 AM) I know, I know...we live in Chicago. We have a sucky winter every year what else would I expect. This year it has been ridiculous in how early and harsh it has showed itself. Me and the wife are edging closer and closer to moving out of this city just because of the weather alone. Austin, TX here we come because this is a frickin joke. 16 years ago, the Pastor of my church came here from the Buffalo area. I asked him to give me his best snow story. The jist of it was..............there was a huge drift by his home. When the drift froze, he climbed up te drift and touched the top of the telephone pole. He told me that Oswego is even worse. Not sure how it is now, but back then he said that their average snowfall every year was between 200 and 250 inches per year The most he remembers is that there was one year that Oswego had over 400 inches. That is just plain insanity!

QUOTE (Cali @ Dec 12, 2010 -> 01:49 PM) It was 80º on Friday here.... And I HATED it haha Yeah, you do have your nice weather, but we have one advantage. By not living in California, tomorrow when we wake up from bed, we can be assured of what side of the block that our house is still on. LOL

One thing that I like about it, is that he not going to be with Minny. I'm not sure what type of stats our line up had against him, but the times that I saw him, we didn't do very well at all. I kind of remember him making us look silly at the plate.

QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Dec 13, 2010 -> 11:14 PM) On paper, they're clearly the best. But in reality, who knows. I remember ESPN was talking about our 2006 rotation being among the best ever, and we all know how that worked out. I agree! No doubt that the Phils rotation is beyong the realm of insanity, but how many times has it happened where a team looks indestructable on paper, and then when the year passes by, you say, "WOW" We were supposed to have a "win win" year? The Phils DO HAVE a very intimidating roation, but........................ In 2005 we had 4 complete game winners back to back to back to back in post season play. That will also send a strong message of intimidation as well for the following season. If we remember.........EVERYONE had the "willies" just wondering what we were going to be like. BUT................IN BASEBALL......YOU JUST NEVER KNOW!

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 02:35 AM) Still think Reinsdorf is hung up on Paulie and won't let him leave even if it means overpaying. I'm thinking the same thing. I believe that KW would no longer like to stall and risk losing other options as well as a little extra money for the bullpen before it's too late. The only way that I'll deal with JR overpaying him for sentimental sakes, is if he decides to open up for the bullpen as well, and not leave KW in a bad bullpen predicament. If JR REALLY wants to win again, then why would he over pay on one end, and handcuff us in another? It doesn't make sense unless he goes insanely all out, and forks our bullpen money also. Can't see it though!
