  1. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 07:58 AM) Edit: For bass, it's Geddy Lee all the way. No doubt, the guy can play. If you want to see a real mind blower, watch this Billy Sheehan solo.
  2. A tour with Hendrix-Beck-Page-Clapton would be amazing. That'll work! If I'm not mistaken, I believe that the last 3, all came out of the same band (At different time periods) in the late 60's from a band called 'The Yardbirds"
  3. QUOTE (The Critic @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 07:31 AM) Thin Lizzy. I never got to see them, and IMO they're one of the most underappreciated bands in rock history. They have so many great songs and are only remembered for MAYBE two of them (Boys Are Back In Town and Jailbreak). "The Emerald" was also a great tune, but if you want to blow the doors off of someone, get a stereo with a powerful, clean strong amp, and some speakers that can handle some "EXTRA heavy bass" and turn up the song "Bad Reputation" That song......at the right volume, will make your chest 'THUNDER!" A guy that I know played that through some Altec Lansing Model 19's and I was mesmerized at what I heard and felt. (The model 19's were speakers that were the size of a washer and dryer weighed 165 pounds each, and the cabinets were made from walnut wood.) Absolutely Incredible!
  4. There are a TON of different ones with different styles that I like in so many different ways, but being a musician myself, I have 2 that really stand out as to why "I" like them. You may differ, and not agree, but that's OK. That's what this thread is for. Your opinions! We all have different tastes. Al Dimeola. The friggin' guy played with the best of the best ("Return To Forever" Stanley Clark, Chick Corea and Lenny White) when he was just 19 years old in the mid-70's. I saw a video of Dimeola from the late 70's and his acoustic work was beyond lightning quick, and yet every note was so crisp and clear. Dimeola does play a Les Paul with distortion at times, but A lot of guitar players rely "Soley" on distortion when they play. Sure, they can play super quick, but when you rely upon distortion, you can get a little sloppy and get away with it. Speed/Crisp/Clear..........Dimeola is the best I've ever heard. Effects/ and getting things out of a guitar that have blown my mind as to "How'd the heck did he do that? Jeff Beck Bassist: Brian Bromberg: He's a jazz musician and plays an 1800's upright bass. Also plays an electric, and a piccolo bass. (Piccolo bass is where the strings are an octave higher than a normal bass.) The guy is an outright clean and speed animal on the upright as well as electric.
  5. QUOTE (Yoda @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 12:58 PM) If the genie can bring back Stevie Ray Vaughan from the Heavens to play with Double Trouble than I would definitely be buying my first album in a good while. Here's one for ya! How about a tour with S.R.V. and Hendrix playing together? Styles and personal music choices may clash, but some pretty serious guitar playing would be brought to the audience. There may be some faster guitar players, but nobody can make a guitar "speak" to you in so many different ways and so many different levels than SRV, Hendrix and Jeff Beck.
  6. QUOTE (Tex @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 08:50 PM) I'd have to say the Beatles, especially to see what their song writing would be as grandparents. They also crossed my mind, but for a different reason. Would be curious as to see what ticket prices would be along with the hype. Is was about 7 or 8 years ago when The Eagles toured, a friend told me that tickets were going for $250.00. I know some Beatles freaks that would pay absolutely ANTYHING if they were to go on tour. Heck, they had a nation wide countdown just for one new song (Free As A Bird) when Anthology was shown on TV. Could you imagine what the hype would be along with how much they would gross on a world tour with a new album??
  7. I know that there are a lot of pretty cool designs that people have come up with to decorate their "bags" or "cornhole" games, but anyone have any pictures of ones that they have designed or painted that they would like to share? Or even some really unique ones from the web?
  8. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 15, 2010 -> 08:00 AM) I think you mean "Castaway", no? Ay Yuy Yuy Yuy Yuy! Can you give me a "D-uh"!!! with a Capital "D"? Where's my head at? The following is a message from "Rooftop" to Rooftop" ! Hey Rooftop......................"D-UH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Thanks! I deserve that! No Problem! Anytime!
  9. QUOTE (klaus kinski @ Jul 14, 2010 -> 07:38 PM) Hello Joe Borchard Gee! Thanks for the reminder! Reading some good news and then you bring up the memory of us getting "torchered by Borchard!" Yikes!
  10. QUOTE (kev211 @ Jul 14, 2010 -> 04:52 PM) Haha the first thing I thought about when I saw this was you. Me too! I remember him distinctly because a number of years back, we became Soxtalk members on the same day. I have a question. In the movie "Outcast" Tom Hanks wife thought that he was dead. She got remarried and her name got changed. When she found out that Hanks was alive, which name does she take on since legally she was bound to Tom Hanks? Well, Soxace started out as JeremyReedFan and changed his name only because he got traded. Now that Reed is back, does he go back to his original name? Which one does he take on? Either way, you are a die hard hard Soxfan, and will never be considered an "outcast!" unless you go about 13 miles north......to (the dark side!!!) LOL
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 09:25 AM) Is this greg???? Felix Diaz beat the Cubs in one of his first starts, so easy on him. He never faced the Yanks either. QUOTE (Rooftop Shots @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 10:59 AM) My bad. I thought it was him. I do remember that there was some big hype minor leaguer that was brought up and got trounced by the Yanks. I think that buehrle was supposd to pitch and they put him in instead. Can't remember who it was. I thought that it was Diaz. Guess not! Aha! Maybe next time, before I post, I better check my facts, an not rely on my brain. through WIKIPEDIA, I found who I was thinking about Muñoz made his major league debut in 2004 for the Chicago White Sox in a start against the Montreal Expos.[1] It was a disaster: Munoz allowed eleven runs in three innings -- nine in the second inning alone -- for the worst major-league debut for a pitcher since at least the last half-century
  12. QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 09:21 AM) Where were you when he pitched last year? I don't have any scouting info, but his K:BB has been excellent in the minors. It was not very good during his brief run in the majors last year. Any prospect is a potential flame-out, but he should be good. During the times that he pitched, I never got to see him much. The reason for all the questions is that I know that on this board that there some that are really up to speed on upcoming prspects. Just trying to get a better idea as to know what to look for, and how he executes things according to the info that is on him. That's all. No Biggie!
  13. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 09:25 AM) Is this greg???? Felix Diaz beat the Cubs in one of his first starts, so easy on him. He never faced the Yanks either. My bad. 14. QUOTE (since56 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 06:25 AM) Kc is six games behind the Twins. You can be sure they are salivating at the chance to get in the hunt. Don't overlook this series. They are 7-3 in their last ten, coming off a road sweep in Seattle. Take care of our own business first, Agreed! Plus, I believe that Sunday is Hudson against Grienke. That's no picnic by all means. I guess we'll see what this kid is made of. The big thing about KC.............get to that bullpen ASAP! If their starters are on, they can be tough, and some of their hitters have had some success against our pitching. Put those 2 scenarios together and (regardeless of what their record shows) we can have our work cut out for us and a dogfight in some possible low scoring games. I guess we'll see!
  15. Could someone help me out? I'm looking for some realistic info on Hudson? What should I mostly watch for when he pitches. What are his main pitches. How is his command? Does he have good movement on his fastball. What is his out pitch? Changeup, Hard slider, late breaking curve/ cutter? Is he a good "first Strike" pitcher. How is he on strike out / walk ratio? Can he throw any one of his pitches in any count. I hear a lot of hype on this guy not only from Chicago, but other places as well (MLB network etc) Lastly, are the expectations REAL on this guy, or a possible "wanna be hopeful". Remember, we once had Feilx Diaz who wa s 10-1 with a 1.85 ERA. Came up, gave up 10 runs to the Yankees, and now he's pitching in Japan. That hype ended in a heartbeat! I know it's a lot of questions, but if he is going to fill the rotaion for maybe the rest of the year, I just want to know what to mainly look for, even if it takes him a little time to get acclaimated to his new career dream, and him getting his head settled in when it comes time to filling some Really Big Shoes with the Peavy loss. Thanks!
  16. Look out! That was a shot that was "pickled" foul.
  17. Hopefull if it's not too serious, with the Allstar break around the corner, best case scenario is that he misses just one more start.
  18. On a nice hop............."Took a good ol Bolingbrook bounce there" Don't know how that one got started!
  19. After a run comes in.........."Don't stop now boys!"
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ May 31, 2010 -> 08:38 PM) What wouldn't upset you? Lillibridge has no business being on a Major League roster. QUOTE (Rooftop Shots @ May 31, 2010 -> 09:55 PM) We have called Gradeschool "Loserbridge" up numerous times, and he continually shows that in the batters box, he's about as useful as Prince Fielder eating in a vegetarian bar. If someone has to get sent down, or to replace Teahan, there has got to be somebody else that we can call up for a short period of time. I don't think that I can take "Round # 6 call-up " of his famous 'Strike out" or WEAK Ground ball to the shortstop" You can put the baseball on a tee-ball stand, have the entire opposing team sit on the bench, and Lillibridge still wouldn't be able to get on base!. July 4 2010 As of today, after being called up. he is 6 for 10 with 1 HR, 1 bases clearing triple when they were behind 4 runs, 2 doubles, 2 singles, and a bunt single. If he keeps this up, I will GLADLY EAT my words. I'd like to see him keep it up. Unfortunately my overly sarcastic remarks were made on so many past experiences and opportunities that he was given. Maybe the coaching staff sees something in this kid that we don't, which is why they keep calling him up. Anybody know what is making this turn-around in him?
  21. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 10:34 AM) We're stuck with Linebrink and his awful contract, nothing really can be done. As long as Thornton, Putz, Santos (although he's had some expected regression lately, but I still think he's good), and now Jenks lately pitch well, we're fine though. Overall, our bullpen is in better shape than a lot of teams now that Jenks seems to be finding it. Totally agree, but if our starting pitching ever runs a few games in a row where they have rough outings, we will need a couple of extra guys to give some breathing room.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 10:29 AM) You can't send him down without him accepting it. He could force the team to release him and buy out his whole contract instead. (edit; that includes next year's salary as well). Thanks! I didn't know that! I thought they while they are under contract (Except for no trade clauses") they manegement could do what they pleased for the best interest of the team.
  23. I was at last nights game, and a something hit me that I just coudn't figure out. Anybody know the reasoning for a couple of things? 1st, a pitcher throws a ball in the dirt, and the ump gives the catcher a new ball to give back to the pitcher. Next, a ball is hit hard, scooped up from the ground and the runner thrown out, and then the same ball is given back to the pitcher. If they continue to use that one, then why can't they use the same one that was pitched in the dirt? 2nd, anyone know what the 2 dirt cutout circles are for at The Cell that are on each side of home plate? The Old Comiskey had them too. A lot of other parks do not have them. They are too close to be an on deck circle. They are not used during batting practice, because they have a tarp over them during that time. Any ideas why they have been there for both parks if they have no use?
  24. Just curious. But if Ozzie and KW always talking about pitching and defense winning games, and having a bullpen that is strong, then do you think that they will do something with Linebrink? YES, I KNOW that he cannot be moved because of his salary, but do you think they would ever have the "stones" to send this guy down? You need to keep a bullpen fresh and strong, especially after hot summer months. Keeping Linebrink and Williams on the roster, knowing that they arern't worth a "Dink" and not worth being used, will eventually become taxing on the rest of the pen. Is there any chance that either KW or Ozzie would be asking the question, "why keep someone on the MLB roster if you have no confidence in them being used regardless how much they are making??" It comes down to....What's more important, worrying about eating 5 mil, or winning and doing what is best for the pen and the team? Thoughts? Agree? Disagree?
  25. Polar bears are left handed. The chameleon can focus it's eyes separately to watch 2 separate objects. I don't believe in reincarnation, but if there was such a thing, do you think that this where Marty Feldman originally came from? It has been stated that if you want to play hide and go seek with Marty Feldman, that all you have to do is stand right in front of him, and he will never find you!
