  1. Thought I'd start a thread in the other direction ......as to what we really like that makes us say inside..."Yeah baby!!!" Mine.... when I'm going the speed limit or even a little over in a residential area and some jerk is just about humping my fender for a mile or so. Then he gets an opening and goes "ZOOMING BY" and cussing at me while he does! As I drive on ahead, I see flashing lights! IT's A COP THAT JUST PULLED THE JERK OVER FOR EXCESSIVE SPEEDING! YEAH BABY!!!! Another one is when I went to The Cell to see Frank Thomas' 1st game back, after he signed with Oakland. I went to the box office in the morning to try and buy a ticket. People were walking away saying it was sold out. I wondered, though, if maybe I could just buy "one Ticket". Just maybe they didn't have multiples. Well, I bought one ticket, 26 rows behind home plate, lower deck, and it was half price night! The bonus, I have a real screwed up left knee and it's difficult for me to remain cramped up in a middle of a row, and the seat that I got was a left aisle seat! Never ever got a deal like that in my life! Yeah Baby!!! http://img604.imageshack.us/content.php?pa...rntosoxpff4.jpg http://img604.imageshack.us/content.php?pa...rntosoxpff4.jpg
  2. Walking into a store like Wal-Mart on a cold day, and as soon as you enter, the person in front of you decides to STOP STAND and BROWSE at a sale item, and there is no room to get by them in order to walk around them. Why?? Because their are 3 other people that were in front of him/her that decided to do the same friggin' thing!
  3. Waiting forever in line in the left turning lane...............then FINALLY the arrow comes on and you miss making the light, and then have to wait another light because some lady in a mini-van or SUV isn't paying attention because of yakking on the cell-phone, scolding her kids, or worrying about which radio station to play.
  4. In the article that had the link to it, I read where Marquez has a power chageup to both left and right handed hitters. Does anybody know exactly for sure what a power changeup is. I did some searching, and came up blank.
  5. Maybe KW wants his new 2009 saying to be "If we put on A lot of "Colon" then we won't stink!
  6. Best quality hamburger and/or best burger place ...and why they both rate high in your standards.
  7. QUOTE (rangercal @ Jan 10, 2009 -> 08:50 PM) favorite laundry detergents? At least it will guarantee that the thread will be a clean one.
  8. I know that I am a day early, and that I'm not one of the regular "Big Time" posters on Soxtalk, but I did want to take a moment out to wish ALL OF YOU at Soxtalk a Real Merry Christmasl. Regardless of what your plans are, (if any), I hope that it is truly a real blessed day for all of you.............and amidst all of the blustery weather conditions...............one that keeps you out of harms way and a safe one for all as well. Just remember..........a cat on the beach will give it "Sandy-Claws!!!"
  9. I doubt that he would ever sign there. Why? Simple reason! Since the Yankees stress the essence of having all of their players "Clean Cut" , do you honestly thing that Manny would lose the doo-rag, and whack off that whole grease mop of gnarled up licorice whips from his head? No friggin' way!
  10. QUOTE (daa84 @ Dec 19, 2008 -> 04:05 PM) not nearly as funny as the first time they parodied that exact same clip with the cowboys thing Anybody have a link on that one? Not sure that I ever saw it. Thanks!

  12. QUOTE (Texsox @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 09:03 AM) I'm staring 50 in the crosshairs. Me too. This Feb 27th, I officially go from cliffhanger............ to falling off the cliff.
  13. QUOTE (Rooftop Shots @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 10:43 PM) In 1974 I saw Styx in a little recreation center that packed about 500 people in a small town called Calumet Park. (Not Calumet City! That's out by Dolton) Calumet Park is about a half mile east of Blue Island. QUOTE (YASNY @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 11:19 PM) In 1972 Styx played at my high school's homecoming dance. QUOTE (Texsox @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 07:49 AM) After they became successful they claimed to only have played one or two High School dances, but I swear I know a lot more people who went to High School where they played. Man O Man! Not sure of the ages of both of you, but by the looks of our postings along with the dates that we all put on them, are all 3 of us somewhere in the top 5 of nursing home wheelchair posters on Soxtalk?

  15. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Dec 14, 2008 -> 11:26 PM) I think we are going to try this on New Years Eve! The grilled cheese-bacon cheeseburgers went over so well, gotta expand more than out stomachs. I present to you, the bacon-cheese roll! http://foodproof.com/photos/full/bacon-cheese-roll-1290 Yikes! After eating a few of these, is this where you have dessert?
  16. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 13, 2008 -> 01:55 PM) We signed Corky Miller and Chris Stewart recently, and we also have Cole Armstrong in the minors. I think we'll fill that internally, and my guess would be that Miller gets the job, as he's pretty good defensively and hit righty, although he can't hit a lick. What happened with Stewart? What I remember about him was that his catch-release to 2nd base was absolutely lights out. He didn't really have a cannon of an arm, but getting rid of the ball was one one of the quickest I saw in a while. The problem was that he couldn't hit worth a dink. Is that still the same scenario with him? If we signed him again after letting him go before, then they must see something in this guy. Any clues???
  17. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 09:07 PM) Brent's ears flap gracefully in the wind, much like leaves on a tree. Sorry to disappoint you, But I think this guy wins the prize
  18. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 12:07 AM) Who leered looking in on virgin row When he looked with his eyes, He found out she was a guy, That had the resemblance of a stooge named Moe
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 6, 2008 -> 11:28 PM) Okay, who would you be willing to give up for Bedard? Of course, the conversation begins with Poreda, and Fields makes sense at 3B/1B/LF/DH, especially if they're going to deal Beltre...I guess they also might want an outfielder (with Ibanez's departure), but giving them Anderson, Wise or Owens probably doesn't do a whole lot to excite their FO, although I guess there are some possibilities. This is another team that might have use for Lillibridge as an outfielder, but certainly not LF. as far as who to give up......no clue. I was just stating the fact that KW liked the guy an awful lot. I doubt anything will happen. Just bringing up a point that if there was a way that Bedard could be had reasonably, I believe that KW would go for it. I do agree with you that Seattle would not let him go easy..................and probably not at all.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 6, 2008 -> 11:10 PM) You're assuming the M's are just going to cast him adrift. I don't think that's so obvious, anymore than the Orioles letting Daniel Cabrera go with nothing to show for it. Not really. I believe that we would have to trade heavy for him, and it would be risky....given his injury status. After Seattle spending so heavily last year and coming up with nothing but a dismal failure of a team, are they in the market for cutting expenses?? Not sure!
  21. QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 6, 2008 -> 09:31 PM) There once was a poster named Texsox Who owned a pet that was a hexed Ox
  22. I'm going with Bedard also. Not really a top choice that I would hope for, but I remember KW drooling over him and how much he coveted him a couple of years back. He was always talking of how his stuff was scary. He struggled last year and had shoulder issues with surgery ...but with different scenery, and another Coop and Herm fix????? 7 mil for 1 year.
  23. Cub Fan! (I seriously doubt it though! Mainly, because all they know how to do is LOSE when there is hope and the end is near).
  24. When Gary Cooper walked off the field after he portrayed Lou Gehrigs farewell speech in "Pride Of The Yankees" Also, White Sox 2005 DVD
  25. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 07:49 PM) I know I am not alone in this weird and calm happiness. Still surprises me to see everyone feeling the same way right now. Agreed. Mainly because we showed a lot of heart before it all ended. Sure was fun watching the final Minnesota game. Haven't been that intense with hands constantly clutched together tightly since 05. Even though the season is over, what a great run at the end. If we laid down and died after the Minny sweep, I think we would all be feeling a lot different. They made a run..............that's all that we could ask of them. And also,................after Saturday night....................I slept like a baby knowing that a stronger team in the Cubs were eliminated after all the hoopla about them all year long. Final thought...............Tampa beat us. I hope they beat everyone else as well.
