If you won the lottery, what would you do with your life?
Rooftop Shots replied to Marky Mark's topic in SLaM
I would pay someone to sit at my keyboard and make post after post after post, for about 6 years straight........just to prove that in fact Southsider2K5's post total can be surpassed within the next millenium. -
QUOTE (chwhtsox @ Jun 26, 2009 -> 06:45 PM) I'm a GM of a rental company in Northern Illinois, we rent bobcats, lifts, tents, party stuff, etc... I come across a dumb question/complaint everyday. Todays: lady on the phone calls today and yells at me because she wanted round tables instead of banquet style. I tell her says on the contract she signed she was getting eight 30x96 tables. She asks/yells "how am I suppose to know 30x96 tables aren't round"?!?! Yesterday: guy is yelling at me because our equipment is *insert expletive*. It just died on him and he's been working with skidsteers for 30 years, he has guys standing around for hours, 5 guys trying to fix it/figure out what the problem is. Long story short, I go to the site, was there less than 2 minutes before I told him he ran out of diesel fuel. Didn't even get an apology. Reminds me of when I got married. It was outdoors in a forest preserve. A friend of mine made a phenomenal wedding cake as a gift for me and my then future wife. Before she came to the wedding, she told her emplyees at her bakery NOT to disturb her unless it was an absolute emergency. The wedding starts.....and guess what, ......her cell phone rings. She had to leave. A lady was behind the counter screaming incessantly because the employees couldn't find her cake. Turns out that the lady went to the wrong bakery. Same thing....stormed out.......and never even aplogized. My friend who made the cake....missed the whole wedding because of that.

Happy Birthday Knight!! Have a GREAT DAY!

QUOTE (Rooftop Shots @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 11:47 PM) Give him some time. Wasn't it Robin Ventura that went 0 for 40 (or some thing similar to that), before he got his first hit. Obviously he didn't turn out so bad! Like Beckham.........He also killed the ball before he got caught up. Tim Kurkjian recently made a comment of what Thome said to him at spring training when Beckham was in the batters box, saying "Look at this kid, he's going to be something special!" He also said that he reminded him of Manny Ramierez when he first got called up. (Not sure if he was talking about his swing, his poise , or whatever) Maybe someone else saw this on a recent baseball tonight episode and can more accurately quote it oops! Make that "He also killed the ball before he got "CALLED" up. ........not CAUGHT up.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 10:07 PM) Well he's 0 for 6 right now. So 69 for 75? Give him some time. Not sure about the facts, but I once heard that Ryan's average pitch count per game was 150 plus. Don't know if it is just here-say or if there is any truth to it. The only thing that I found was a quote that said, if they took Ryan out of the game with today's standardizing of pitch counts, that he would be out by the 3rd or 4th inning.

Sad story about Former Sox 3B Greg Norton
Rooftop Shots replied to WhiteSoxfan1986's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 6, 2009 -> 12:33 PM) Norton... still the greatest. -
Thanks for the leads guys! I'll do some checking!

Not sure if this is the right forum to put this in, but I was wondering if anyone knows where the best price would be to purchase a Sox "fitted cap". I wear a size 7 1/4. Just want a black cap with Sox logo in front. Most places (even e-bay) are around 30 t0 35 dollars when shipping is added in. Anyone know of a store or websight that can do better than that?? If not, I'll just go with the flow and shell out the money. I just thought that for something as small as a baseball cap that "Somebody Out There" has more reasonable prices. I want to purchase a couple of them, and just wanted to check here first to see if anyone has any leads before I go ahead and buy them. Thanks!

QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 20, 2009 -> 09:42 AM) Either something was in their food or I think I got it! During a poker game of 7 card Stud, they ate some bad horse-radish before bedtime and never woke up from having bad night-mares.

Can't forget Kenny Rogers! He had a nice little lovefest with a camera-man.

QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 4, 2009 -> 04:23 PM) Alright, so yesterday I made up some story about my car being messed up so I could skip work. So now when I go in today I need to know how much a new alternator generally costs so I can have a story when they question me about what was wrong and all that crap. Basically, I just need to know how much getting a new alternator would roughly cost. I drive a 2000 Chevy Impala if that matters any. And thank you in advance for helping me to continue being a sub par employee Maybe instead of the sig TRU, ever think about changing it to LIE?

There was a nice article on him in today's Times. I like the guys outlook and the way he tries to get the best out of others that were high potentials with other teams. He seems to have a way of not only getting their confidence back, but also in just being themslves with their natural talents and then slowly...just building upon that. One of his motivations....He said that he doesn't want to see their careers turn out like his. He wants them to succeed and be good! Anyway, Just had a quick question. How long is Coop signed up with us for. I know he signed a contract....I believe it was last year, but I forgot for how long. Thanks!

Braeburn. "When" they are good and fresh, they are rock solid crunchy and juicy with a little bit of tartness.

Why is a certain road called a parkway. and yet we drive on them, and yet a driveway is something that we park on?
-
why is the military rank called Colonel (with NO "R" in it), and yet it is pronounced Kernal?

FINALLY got my first cell phone (Yes, I finally came out of the dark ages). I know a lot of people don't like Joe Buck, but does anyone know how or if there is a way of him announcing the call "And the White Sox have won the world series" on a sound bite to a ringtone on the cell phone? And if there is, how it can be done? Thanks!

I hate when I know I'm hated by ones that I hate who are haters of hatred and also that others really hate the fact that they are hated for hating so much use of hatred in the ones that they hate as well. I also hate the fact that I have to re-read this same sentence over and over and over just to see if it really makes any real sense at all.

I love it when I have a day off of work for a holiday. I like to set the alarm anyway for the usual time, just so I can get the satisfaction of saying to the clock "Go Scratch!" I turn it off and crash for a couple more hours! Yeah Baby!

I love it every year on the specific day that I find out that the Cubs are officially eliminated from the season. My brother and I always go out and have a celebration dinner on the following day. Last year it eneded on a Saturday night, and I slept like a baby and woke up soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo refreshed on Sunday morning! I also love it when you go out for some pizza with a friend.........and you know ahead of time that you are going to pay the bill, and then when the check comes, your friend says.................."Don't worry about it! 'I got this one! You get it next time!"

There we go! That's better!
