  1. QUOTE (rackemup @ Sep 10, 2010 -> 11:05 PM) He's at Joe West's house, just waiting for him to get home He'll be waiting for quite a while. On the way home, West has to stop off at Taco Bell, Popeyes, Wendy's, Long John Silvers, Dunkin Doughnuts, Baskin Robbins, and then pull over on the side of the road to take a good healthy dump.
  2. I'm in the TEX club decade. I'm 51 now, but one thing really blows me away. It was only last year that I hit the half century mark, and when I did, I only felt like I was 50!
  3. The last 5 days I have been getting home in about the 7th inning and I noticed that Hawk has not been on all this time. I'm sure that something was posted here as to what happened to him, but I wasn't sure where to look without going through multiple threads and hundreds of posts. Thanks!
  4. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 07:44 AM) Detroit will win tonight, book it. Any chance Twins pull a San Diego Padres kind of slide, currently a 7 game losing streak They are due. They cannot keep winning at this pace for another 28 days. I really believe that at the end of the month, the tightness of this race and emotions (good and bad), from the fans are going to escalate to an incredible degree. Watching our games with clentched fists at every at bat. Yelling at the TV because the Twins score is not poping up fast enough on ESPN' or MLB Network. Arguments on this board will take off to another degree between the ra-ra positive mindset cheerleaders, and the doomsday coffin fillers as the end approaches! Welcome to the pennant race! This is White Sox baseball. It's September! We're still in it, and it's a blast!
  5. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 11:02 AM) Of newest White Sox fan and 2028 starting 2B to join his brother who will be playing SS... Camden Penn Soble July 29th, 2010 7 lbs. 5 oz. 20.5 in long Picture to come. We hope that you enjoy your little "Cob-ette!" and that all, are in good health. Is he a little "huskey?"
  6. I got one for you! This blew my socks off and I had to turn away laughing so the person in front of me wouldn't get upset and start a ruckuss. Here goes! Saturday I went into Subway. There was a guy and his wife (probably in their 50's).. They both order 6 inch Subs. The guy...A BLT. The wife.......A Subway melt with Guacamole. The lady behind the counter is making them both at the same time. She's putting black forest ham on the wife's sandwich. The wife panickly exclaims.. OH!! "Can you put the ham on my husband's sandwich. I have arthritis and pork affects it a lot." The lady complies! Now...............get this. The lady puts "5 STRIPS" of bacon on the wife's sandwich, and what comes out of the wife's mouth is, "Can you please heat that up? I don't like bacon when it's cold!" I had to walk away as quick as I could with my head down and turned away.
  7. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 21, 2010 -> 12:47 PM) The last post was two weeks ago, and you bumped it for that? Here's one I remember from when I was a kid: Did you hear about the new book "Little Brown Spots on the Wall" by the Chinese author, Hu Flung Pu? Don't know why, but that one got me. So ridiculous, I had to laugh.
  8. QUOTE (azsoxfan1 @ Aug 21, 2010 -> 10:29 AM) From RotoWorld Brian N. Anderson Brian Anderson's conversion from outfielder to pitcher has gone well thus far. The right-hander boasts a 1.46 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 11/4 K/BB ratio over 12 1/3 innings between Rookie ball, Low-A and Triple-A. He threw two scoreless innings in his first appearance at Triple-A Thursday. QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Aug 21, 2010 -> 12:48 PM) He threw 2 perfect innings the other day at Omaha. No Ks in that outing, though. I've been posting periodic updates in the minor league thread. I had no idea he'd gotten his fastball velocity that high, though. His success rate must be because he is pitching simulation games against himself. That would account for his stats on the mound, as well as the ones behind the plate.
  9. The only thing that keeps me hanging on, is the The Twins have shown in recent past that they are capable of going into a tailspin. They went on one before, and they cannot, and will not continue this winning dominance for another 40 games. They do have to face Teaxs 7 more times, and finish the season with Toronto with 4 games. If we can get back on track and play even remotely like we did in June/July.............there is still a chance. Outside? Yes! A Tentative Yes that requires some serious help? Yes! But at least in the equation there is still a friggin' YES! Just remember.....That after May, we thought that we were all out of Yesses!
  10. My top one has probobaly gotta be in "The Rookie" when Jimmy Morris (Randy Quaid) gets called up to pitch in the major leagues, and it's in his home town on top of it. Being a true story even adds to a whole dimension to it. Another scene is when the kids walk in through thr tunnel, and it hits them as to how big a venue that "their coach" is going to pitch in.
  11. It's not a horror flick, but I still have trouble watching Gary Cooper making his farewell speech in Yankee Stadium when he played Lou Gehrig in "Pride Of The Yankees". Hey what can I say! I guess that everyone has a wimp side to them somewhere inside!
  12. Thanks guys, I wrote dwon the suggestions and I'll give em a shot. Location-wise....they are all within decent range. Pretty much anywhere in the southwest suburbs is what I had in mind.
  13. Hello all! I stopped buying "STEAK" burritos because TOO many places use real cheap grade grissly steak. On the southwest side (LaGrange, Orland, Palos, Oak Lawn, Hickory Hills, etc, does anyone know where to get a GOOD sized steak burrito with REAL Good quality meat that you can just eat, swallow. and enjoy without dealing with all of the chewy grissly garbage. El Farol in Summit has the biggest extra meat steak burrito that I've ever seen, but their steak quality is horrible. I keep trying new places, but the same disappointing results. Does anyone have any worthwhile recommendations that are pretty reliable, whether you, or someone that you know has had one of them in any of the areas listed above, or within some other nearby vicinities?? Thanks!
  14. QUOTE (hi8is @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 01:58 AM) Let's get a win tomorrow and shut em out going in the Minnasota series!! We need another 10+ game streak - it starts here!!! Let's go boys!! Since you made that posting, if we do win, then I'd be disappointed if you didn't follow up with with another posting before we play Minnesota.......of the "hawkism" "Don't stop now boys!"
  15. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 04:09 PM) Hopefully they donate me a billion. Here ya go sir! Hey, Would you mind paying off my house for me, and giving me a few bundles to live on?
  16. QUOTE (BearSox @ Aug 2, 2010 -> 06:52 PM) I WANT ONE!!! Got 45 Grand on ya???Pro Batter Ad
  17. I am Polish, so I can tell this joke! A factory full of Polish guys decide to hire a new guy. On the new guy's first day, he gets a big extension ladder, climbs up it and yells out at the top of his lungs, "I'M A LIGHT! I'M A LIGHT! The foreman sees him, and orders him to get down. As soon as the foreman leaves, the guy goes immediately goes back up the ladder and yells out again, "I'M A LIGHT. I'M A LIGHT. The foreman sees him, orders him down and says that if he goes back up there again that he is fired! As soon as the foreman leaves, back up ladder the guy goes yelling out once again I'M A LIGHT! I'M A LIGHT! The foreman sees him and immediately fires him. As he is walking out the door, all of the other Polish guys walk out with him and quit! When the foreman asked one of them, "Why are all of you quitting?" The reply! "We can't work in a place with no lights!"
  18. Best advice that I can give! I used to have the same problem many years ago. I knew it would happen, and I would tense up even before I made it to the urinal. What added to the axiety, is I would push and push, and then sometimes a hugw fart would come out, and then draw even more attention! Ay Yuy Yuy Yuy Yuy! Anyway...one way that I overcame it, is I PURPOSELY went to the men's room during the middle of a Great White Sox inning when they were at bat. The men's room would be most likely empty, and I wouldn't have the anxiety of standing around with a bunch of other guys, and nothing coming out. if it still happened, the pressure would be off, because no one was in the bathroom. I'd also try and wait until the urinal was open that was against the wall. It would lessen the anxiety because of someone else standing next to me and watching me just "Standing" there. Anyway...the more that I did those things, the more comfortable I became with it. and throughout time, I just tried to keep focusing on relaxing, and eventually became more comfortable with the whole situation and over came it. Now, my friends can say, "Hey Tom! You overcame your public bathroom anxiety! Yessiree......."Ur-In-al right guy!" I hope this helps! Good luck
  19. QUOTE (balfanman @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 07:29 AM) I watched Sox baseball since the early 70's and one of the "romances" of the game for me (and I'm sure many others on this site) was the Sunday doubleheader, The Saturday night "Twi-night" double headers also used to be fun a s well.
  20. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 11:11 PM) The players' union would never go for a shorter schedule or prescheduled doubleheaders. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 11:21 PM) They would if it meant 26 or 27 man rosters. Yeah, I'm sure that MLB owners would be "Thrilled" with that! Pay out more major league money to players, and less money coming in to do so.
  21. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 04:48 PM) 150 games would be fine but in that case Id expand the first round to a 7 game series as well. The one thing I WOULD like about 154 games, is that we would see how MUCH MORE difficult it would be to break some long standing records. Just to name one. Hack Wilsons 192 RBI's, Heck, no one can even get that close with 162 games! On the other hand, another reason we'd never see the 154 game scenario is because of so much revenue that would be lost by having less games. Sponsorship with commercials, concessions, ticket sales etc etc. I heard somewhere where the average ball club loses 1 milion dollars per game when there is a rainout. In days like now of the free agent market, when salaries are so high, the chances of less games taking place is about as likely as Prince Fielder going to Old Country Buffet, and only having a salad.
  22. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 04:41 PM) More teams? No way. Baseball is the one sport where making the playoffs is an actual accomplishment. Agreed. As fun as hockey is to watch, The NHL has a total of "30" teams, and yet "36" of them still make the playoffs!
  23. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 11:50 PM) 1976 East Germany women's swimming? WTF? I wonder if this team was put on the list due to how they looked. I remember the days when Johnny Carson used to make cracks during the Olympics about how the East German women weren't exactly role models for Victoria Secret.
  24. The guy wasn't a super stud guitarist, but he was fun to listen to with all of the effects that he used from his VAST ARRAY of "MANY" pedals. Anyone remember Frank Marino from Mahogany Rush?
  25. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 09:53 PM) My all-time favorite is Jimi Hendrix. For an underrated/unheralded player, I like Alvin Lee from Ten Years After. Believe it or not, the guy can still play. I saw him on a special about 2 years ago. At first, I thought, "yeah right!" What's he gonna do after all of these years? Was unexpectedly impressed.
