I'll say this. I would hate the trade, but put Rowand in LF, and he would be among the best defensive LF'ers in baseball. His D in left >>>>>>> times about another >> Pods. But like I said I would'nt like the trade one bit unless we were getting a Hamels or some of their studs in the minors. (wouldn't mind Gio.. ) It will not happen.

I'll say this. We will have a better second half this season then we had last season when we basically played .500 ball throughout.

How Cruz went 1-40 today and is still at Great falls is beyond me..

I'm finally off of the Podsednik bandwagon (long)

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 11, 2006 -> 11:35 PM) How much longer are you and the rest of the Pods haters gonna continue to argue something that nobody is disputing? There hasn't been one person in this thread that's claimed Pods is great. There hasn't been a single person in this thread that said they wouldn't welcome an upgrade if possible. But to say that he's worthless, which is just incredibly stupid, is what guys like iamshack is disputing. You can take all your stats and jizz all over them if you want. Anybody could see that Pods is a valuable asset to this particular team. Nobody cares how he compares to Sizemore or Damon. That's a moot point. It's what he does for THIS team that matters. Excellent Post. -
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 02:12 AM) I got a 26. Same score at 1:30am Should have known more though..

Howards performance (esp the end) was one of the greastest I've ever seen in a long time. When he hit the prize sign and he didn't even notice (knew he won and hugged his Philly teammates/staff) that just put the icing on the cake. What makes it sweeter is he did it with a clean slate. Can't say much about that from alot of players.

I would have done the same thing as he (Zidane) did only after the Cup, but would have done the ol' American tradition and punched him (Materazzi) in the face. Donkey, good comparison of Materazzi and AJ but, imo, I don't think AJ would use a racial slur/terroist/etc.. to someone in a baseball game.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 11:42 PM) Strikingly similar to mine. Great list. Ditto. I think Heads only had like 2 things different from mine and it was in the whitesox category. Great list Alex. For once..

You honestly think KC is going to trade within the division, give up a young promising player, and basically take a step down lower towards rebuilding (unless they are drafting another OF spect?) Ridiculous. Pods is our LF/leadoff hitter this season like it or not. When we win the W.S. again and go into the winter thanking Pods for his services and letting him go, then we can throw some names out there that look good for us. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 11:27 AM) It seems to me that usually one of the guys you least expect to make a run always winds up having a very good Derby. Dye and Glaus are probably the 2 least-known on the list, so I would be willing to bet at least one of them makes the finals. I wouldn't be surprised if Glaus won it. A very smooth swing he has, he can defenitely make some noise. He might not have the most homeruns in each round, but he'll break out when it matters the most (the last round) I want Dye to win it, but at the same time it wouldn't bother me if he didn't. I don't want to see him get homer happy in the second half of the season even if I think he's more professional than that.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 12:22 AM) His average so far this month doesn't even tell the whole story on how well he's hitting the ball. True dat. Alot of line drives, hang wiff ems, etc.. I'm just proving a point so some can get off his back a bit. EDIT: It's also good to see his average increasing every month and hopefully can get ot the .300+ .400+ months soon. Baby steps..

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 09:11 PM) Yeah how did Gomes look at the plate Ace? I caught one ab when he batted (was flipping back and forth from the sox marathon) and he looked comfortable. He was aggressive, had a nice eye (which is surprising cause I believe his BB/K wasn't too impressive in bristol) had some nice swings, but fouled them off. He grounded out, but show cased some nice speed hustling down that line and was a step or two from being safe. (even though Drew was probably showing off that cannon) I also saw him make a put out in LF with ease (haven't seen that in a while from looking at mystery Pods out there.) Fields was just awesome though.
-
IMO. Jenks Dye (very close microscopic second) Thome (probably will be in the running with Ortiz this year of the MVP award after the half) Count
-
If K Dub can actually get value for Cliff f***ing Pollite (esp spects) than I will never rip on him for anything (not even his analyst days) ever again. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a Pollite- R.Hernandez[pirates] (and a spect or two) swap since there are rumors we are looking at him..
-
Caught glimpses of the game, and I must say Fields impressed me alot and could have gone 3-3 (hang wiff em last ab) Anderson Gomes didn't look bad at all eigher. BTW, Homer Bailey is a serious stud. That kid in the Mets system ain't bad eigher.

What a game. Jermaine Dye basically won (and nearly lost) this game for us. I love that s.o.b. Papelbon who?

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 01:22 AM) Over his career Garcia has posted plenty of off years. It's not necessarily his velocity, just hes an inconsistent pitcher. Nice post. I had the article on Freddy wanting to use more movement on his fastball when throwing 88-93 than throwing a 95+ mph fastball straight but your post just narrows it down. What Freddy hasn't been doing lately is establishing the fastball. That would then set up his other pitches and actually make his fastball take over with his movement. That's what he relies on the most. Once he establishes his fastball, everything else carries itself. He's been going 1-0, 2-1, 3-1 alot lately from what I've seen of him. What I would question Freddy more than anything is his agressiveness. That "big game pitcher" instint he's not showing this year. That's what I don't like from him. it doesn't matter what velocity his fastball is, he has to establish it first. QUOTE(shoota @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 01:27 AM) Yes, he's had some off years, but none as bad as this one. Since this is his worst season, it's reasonable to say his loss in velocity has something to do with his ineffective pitching. My god... I think he's got it! -Jeffrey (fresh prince of bel air)

QUOTE(shoota @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 12:56 AM) Your stats don't take into account how Prior would pitch over the rest of the season if he were off the Cubs and on the Sox. I think Prior could benefit from a change in scenery more than any other player in baseball, and the fact that he'd be coming to a winner with a great pitching coach means he'd be likely to perform better than Garcia would. Ya he would pitched worse. Prior can barely get anyone out in the weak ass NL. He would get his ass bloody if he had to go to the far superior AL. It is usually easier for a hitter to benefit from a change of scenery than a pitcher. Coop cannot help with a pitcher who has been injured each year he's had a major league uniform on. Prior won't suddenly regain his fastball if he's traded. It makes no sense whatsoever. But I should be expecting that from.... (fill in blank) every time. QUOTE(shoota @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 01:01 AM) Keep in mind, Prior currently has more velocity than Garcia. You do understand that Freddy is purposely doing this and Prior isn't right? And you act like Freddy was throwing 95+ to begin with. I have seen him this season throwing 85 to 94 (his high) When he feels to he will throw harder usually in the later innings.
-
QUOTE(shoota @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 12:47 AM) Comparing the careers of Freddy and Prior is irrelevent to the original discussion of who could better help the Sox more in 2006 Freddy's career numbers, like being 42 games above .500, have less influence on his 2006 performance than his diminishing fastball. Okay. Freddy- 10 5 4.91 18 18 1 0 0 0 113.2 130 65 62 20 28 66 Mark- 0 4 7.71 4 4 0 0 0 0 21.0 27 20 18 5 10 22 You still think Prior can help us?
-
QUOTE(shoota @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 12:40 AM) True. Like I said though, getting away from Rothschild and Baker could help him tremendously, and pairing him with Coop could be magical. Not even Coop can help with an injury.
