  1. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 11:29 PM) Thanks to tiebreakers... Pacers > Bucks > Bulls The Wiz losing at LEAST 1 of these 2 games is our only shot of going higher in the seeding at this point.
  2. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 11:22 PM) I think that's one of the harder things in baseball to do..stay patient with young players. That being said you just have to do it because if you believe in that player, you just can't give up on him after 2 weeks, a month or even a year. It takes different players different amounts of time to grow and become the player they have the potential to be. You give up on a young, talented player this quick and a lot of time it will come back and bite you in the ass. Agreed 100%. I'd take a guy with alot of skills, who was a first round draft pick, who has some tools (avg, speed, power I really do see BA as a 20/20 guy) who has hit in every stop he's made in the minors, who plays solid defense, and who is only 23-24 years old and has a cheap salary.. Why are we even discussing this, by mid May I can guarantee a thread (or someone bringing back this one or another) called "Anderson is GOD" or "Aaron who?"

Spending Easter at my grandmothers so I haven't got a clue yet. But I've already said if there is no Mac n Cheese there, I'm gone.
  4. He is not better than Urlacher, not yet, but Urlacher is very overrated and I'm a serious bears fan. It's funny cause other teams players (CAR, GB, SEA, etc.) say that Briggs is a great linebacker who is going to be better (even better than Brian.) Coaches have praised Briggs as well. Urlacher is a GREAT player, but Briggs has the potential to be even better. He really is a beast.
  5. QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 01:31 AM) Belle was the only one there that actually helped the team. You don't think Damaso Marte helped the sox?
  6. QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 02:46 PM) No Jeremy Reed? Give this man an award.
  7. I will always love Jeff "What could had been" Abbott.
  8. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 04:31 PM) If I keep improving at this rate, I'll make the best sigs on the site by 2078. I plan on outliving you all. Your one of the youngest kids on this site. Your doing a pretty good job so far.
  9. I guarantee you we would not have gone all the way last year without Pods, anyway, shape, or form. Hell, we had a losing record without him in the lineup. He made such a huge difference. That's why alot of posters here are getting on his case for his slow start because he is one of the most important pieces in our lineup.

    Jason Rice pitched well. 3IP 1H 0R 0ER 0W 6SO.
  11. I don't know. Your looking for a guy who has the potential to blossom, that has Alex Rios name written all over it. He is only going to get better every year. If you don't pick him this year, you better do it the next.
  12. Keep up with the post Tony. I'm tired of Gameday right now. Something tells me after this game we are only going to be 1.0 game out of first. I'm not counting out the Injuns though.
  13. As hawk would say.. "YEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!"
  14. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 03:57 PM) Kurt Suzuki rakes for me in the OOTPB league. I will never understand why the sox didn't get him instead of Lucy. Nothing against Lucy, but I watched Suzuki in college and he is a stud. If someone here can even attempt to explain it then that's fine, but I don't think I'll buy any of it.
  15. I also have to congratulate Thome on finally striking out in a game! He had 2. Congrats Jim!!
  16. I love soxtalk. I wonder if the sox lost today if this thread would even be up.. Hmmm... I wonder. :rolly The sox ARE the best team in the AL (especially in the central) thats no argument from anyone (except the people who don't believe so) but that's only on paper. They have to back it up on the field as well. That's what the Twins showed us a couple years back.
  17. Freddy only made really 1 mistake, but he really looked like the Freddy we saw that clinched some key games from us a year ago.
  18. QUOTE(greg775 @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 10:47 PM) Hopefully he'll stay put but obviously it's rare for a guy to be in one uniform for an entire career nowadays. Man I tell ya ain't that the truth.. If you would had told me a couple years back Frank Thomas would be wearing an A's (or any other) uniform by 2006, I would have been calling you a dumbass everyday on this board. Hell, I would had thought he was gonna retire with 500 homers if he wasn't injured so frequently. Still, will retire a sox and a future hof.
  19. Pitching for the Cards has always been a dream for Mark. If he doesn't sign with us, it will suck I admit. But that's not his style. I know he would like to get something done. It's a buisness so we'll see what happens. I would not mind him pitching in the NL though and throwing shutouts against the Cubs every outing he has and such.
  20. QUOTE(Soxhawk13 @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 08:58 PM) First of all, this is my first post at this website. I've been a long time visitor to the site, but never actually signed up. I guess I just like to watch! Welcome aboard SoxHawk. I can relate to this sentense cause I've actually done the same. What motivated me to sign was I saw a jackass who didn't know what the hell he was talking about in a particular post (can't remember which) and I just signed to post some facts down. (and of course talk about my favorite spect.) I do find that sentence odd though..
  21. QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 08:42 PM) I do sometimes and I really don't care what people think. I always do. Hell, I almost caught like 2-3 foul balls (some liners) in my life and if your a good catch, like I am, it's always good to get one, and even protect others who have infants and such. I remember last season, Timo caught a flyball and threw just 2 rows away from me n my little bro in the (homerun) stands. Being that close was a trill for me and my little brother.
  22. Very nicely put out.
  23. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 08:35 PM) It's a marathon, not a sprint. Neither the Tigers nor Indians project to have the starting pitching to last down the stretch. The starting pitching is bound to come around, and then, I expect this to be a much happier place. If we're worried this early, it's about two, nay, one thing. Scott Podsednik. I would say Paul Konerko, but, he looks to have found his swing and has been having some quality at-bats. If Scott Podsednik doesn't come around in the next few series, he's headed to the DL and, before you know it, our "Ozzie-ball," speedy ballclub has no speed at all. I'll post by paragraph from ya Addy. I believe the Indians do have enough. No they are not the same, but baseball is a funny game and you, or I never know. They can get it done though. They are not "projected" like you said, but that doesn't mean the "projected" will turn into reality. Scotty will be HUGE, I do agree, but I believe the bullpen will also be the key. We can get steller performances like Javy gave us yesterday, and just blow it not just for him, but for the team in the loss column. I also believe BA will be a factor. Can be consistant on defense, and can he put up solid numbers like Rowand did during his career with us? We'll see. I'm not gonna take anything away from Pauly though. But that's why KW went and got Thome. If one guy can't get it done (Kong) then we got others to back him up (Thome, Dye, AJ, Crede) Our bench is also key, but we REALLY need the pitching and the defense. We aren't gonna out-slug everybody.
  24. QUOTE(rventura23 @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 08:35 PM) once a few balls roll our way with runners on then we will win more games. Guys have hit the ball hard with runners on but we just havent got lucky. See, that's the thing right there. Alot of people forget that last season was special cause alot of balls, hits, etc. went our way. That's why last year was so special. Hawk has said it several times that we were the team that beat ourselves the least last year. Already this year, we have cost ourselves 2 games from poor defense (a key ingredient) bad pitching (a bigger ingredient) and a poor job with RISP (something we got done ALOT eigher from sac flys or [ex] basehits) Not every year will a ball, a call, etc.. go our way. We also had alot of luck last season, which can happen, but I won't bet on it. Every season, "luck" can change. I'm not trying to be so negative, but this is baseball. I've already said the sox are not the same team from 05', I still think were way better, but being better on paper doesn't mean were going to be better on the field.
  25. QUOTE(BlackBetsy @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 08:26 PM) I wasn't pleased at all. The Sox continue to leave men in scoring position, only have 3 home runs in 6 games - all from Jim Thome - and look generally lost at the plate. They blew two opportunities today with men on third and less than two outs. This team needs to play better fast. I take no solace out of beating the Royals one out of three. Couldn't agree with you more Betsy. Exactly 100% correct. And by fast I know what you mean. The Indians are quietly 5-1 right now. The story right now is Detriots hot start, and I don't know about some of you, but I don't want to wait during the middle of the season to see if we can catch them. We are already 3 games out. I don't care how early it is, that's never good for any team.
