Charlie Haeger to likely start Wednesday
Wow.. just wow... I'm glad I know this and I gotta say... wcw2323 heads up kid. You get alot of respect in my book. I'm also shocked of the bashing and head-hunting alot of posters had. Damn... I was laughing at this whole thread cause it was like we made a trade or something.

Easy way to start an argument in Chicago.
My two favorite: Itailian Fiesta and Waldo Cooney's. (Slav, you know what I'm talkin bout. ) Capri's Pizza is up there too and so is Bob n Jacks. As far as on this list.. Pizzaria Uno I would have to say.

Official NBA Playoffs Thread
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 5, 2006 -> 08:04 AM) Bulls should package their lottery pick from the Knicks and maybe Deng for Garnett. I'd rather trade Gordon. (hell he has more value and Deng has been semi-injury prone so far during his short career) Deng is gonna be a friggin stud come 2-3 years and is only 20 years old right now. But I'll tell you what. If they want Deng instead of Gordon and take Garnett... I would do it even though I would hate it.

Royals @ Sox
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 6, 2006 -> 12:16 AM) Its the f***ing royals, the worst team in baseball. We shouldnt be leading the season series 4-3 on a 20 loss team in the first week of may. Hey.. what can you say... Baseball is a crazy game. And I still remember a poster here who predicted that we would be 23-8 after we were done with the Royals, which I precisely shook my head. Like Ozzie said, every team is difficult. There are no easy teams in the MLB. Period. Some teams might just be alittle less talented than others.. It's crazy though every good team will have a team that they will struggle against (or be the b****.) It's common. That being said let's get a win Javier.

Rowand helps Phillies with comeback win!
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 5, 2006 -> 01:01 AM) Rowand got about as good of reads as anyone, Brian doesn't play as deep and is faster, no doubt. He might be a better defender but he certainly isn't ten times better. Agreed. The only true diffrence I see between the two is the arm. Anderson is more accurate and stronger. But I'll say this, Rowand and Crede should had won gold gloves last year. If Rowand would had won one, this discussion is mute. That's the only thing you would have to say. Gold Gloves Rowand: 1 Anderson: 0 Nuff said. But since that's not the case...

What was better
Joe's play was simply outstanding but I have to give it to Gooch cause we've NEVER seen a play like his in baseball. I've seen a play like Credes' many times, might not have been like that exactly, but it was very similar plus in Gooch's play it was under better circumstances (bottom of the 9th tying run aboard, that ball was IN play, not a foul ball like Credes and the game was basically ova cause Count was lights out.) My vote clearly goes to Iguchis. Nice thread by the way. And I don't honestly say that to posters. We have to revist this when the sox win this again and show how we done it.

20-8
That is wrong you know. I even have the Chicago Sun times paper today where it shows our record comparing our 2005 record and it says the same thing wite showed. We are 1 game off our pace from last season how the hell could we be 23-5 we weren't THAT dominent. EDIT: I'll even put it to you this way. His source=baseball reference. Your source=espn. Nuff said.

Best Places in Chicago for Cinco De Mayo?
Hmmm... I'm was also thinking of kickin it for Cinco de Mayo but probably just drink a 40 or something with the friends. Of course I do want to celebrate my own heritage. I know a couple of my older friends that went to parties downtown. Anita Margarita in Tinley Park is always good or the Sports Bar n Grill if you were thinking of partin and eatin too. Not sure if you wanted to go to a specific event, restarant, or bar.. or even a club for that matter.. Just tryin to help you out.

Pujols, God's gift to hitting
QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ May 2, 2006 -> 12:58 AM) Barring a freak injury of course. But I see no way he walks 232+ times and still goes yard 80 times. Maybe 150-180, but defintly not over 200. I didn't say his record. I'm saying he can actually walk more than Bonds THIS season.
-
Pujols, God's gift to hitting
Shockingly, this will probably be the first year we'll see Pujols walk 100+ times in a season. Finally after years, teams are now starting to get this guy is dangerous and will give him his Barry Bonds treatment. He might even pass Bonds on walks this season as well since he will be healthy all season most likely.

Booing Jim Thome
QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ May 2, 2006 -> 12:42 AM) Johnny Damon also got booed which is somewhat of a similar case in that both players eventually ended up on rival teams. Damon and Thome are very similar. Both are good guys in the clubhouse, have good charities and really help children, both basically said they would have to rip/pay a million bucks to leave their respected teams (Thome saying he'll never leave Cleveland and Damon saying he'll never play for the Yankees) both taking more money to go somewhere else (NOONE can blame them, gotta take care of the family) both playing for rival teams, and both getting booed by their old teams (Thome having horrible signs from the fans and Damon getting dollar bills thrown on the field by the fans.)

Reggie Evans Violates Chris Kaman
I guarantee you that Evans will be laughed at not only by other players, but probably from his teammates as well. But the Clippers will move on (book it) so all is good for Kaman.

Carlos The Cub-Killer
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 07:48 PM) Oh and where are the Cubs going to play him (lol)? Pie and/or Pierre is the future in CF, they are stuck with Jock for 2 years after this, and Lord knows how much they love Matt Murton. Pie (the 5 tool stud) is their future CF. The thing is they better hope Harvey develops cause I can see them letting Jones go after 2 years (or even trade same with Pierre who has better value) till Harvey comes up and will be their future RF. They see it as a Murton-Pie-Harvey and if Harvey (or another top spect of theirs) doesn't work, they can always slide Pie to right (good arm) even though he throws left-handed (hell Jones throws left) That's the thing about the cubs though. There is always "what if", "how about", "he should had", etc.. etc.. etc.. with their team/organization. They don't/will never get it done when it comes to building a championship team it's always "wait till next year" always and eigher a player(s) gets injured, or they fall in love too much with their prospects (or wait till they can/cannot develop.)

What's up with Jenks?
Jenks was throwing a bit in the pen, but I think he wanted to give him the day off and use Neal who has been proclaimed to be a "future closer."

Jermaine Dye
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 12:03 AM) Prob wont be remembered that much.... MVP of the WORLD SERIES,= something we've never had in Chicago since the early 1900s. Got the game winning hit in the clincher. Man if he isn't remembered then we can just erase his stats right now.
-
AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
A nice "Ace" game by Count, BA is looking better at the plate (No K's.. ) Thome, Dye come through, Thornton looked ok despite not pitching in a few days and BAAAAAAD Bobby Jenks comes through 7/7. Nice game all around.

Baseball's Most Memorable HRs
I don't care what anybody says. As far as World Series homeruns go, Joe Carters' homer to me, was the greatest homerun in a World Series ever. To hit one in a game 7, in the bottom of the 9th, to win a World Series is every kids dream and the perfect timing. As far as the Whitesox homerun, I would consider Blums to be huge. The guy barely gets an at-bat for about 3 weeks and to hit one in your ONLY AB in the playoffs (yet alone the W.S.) in the longest W.S game in history was simply amazing.

Mario Williams to be #1 Pick
QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Apr 29, 2006 -> 07:51 PM) Im not too sold on Lendale White, he adds alot of weight and he has a poor workout and isnt motivated. I was saying that in regard to both playing against each other just a few months ago and now on the same team potentially hearing the names "Young hands off to White."
