  1. Sox have a plus defender at 3B now with possibly Eaton in CF. That's two guys and C is solid so.. maybe three positions. Sox have power with Lawrie and Frazier coming in with Abreu (and whatever Eaton we see next season there ). Great we need it. Get us a RF, SS, possibly a LF (move Melky to DH) with average to above average defense (shortstop for sure), OBP (at least two hitters there) and power (maybe one more bat there... Upton?) And I really like our chances.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 11:32 AM) Lawrie's value also just significantly increased His bat sure. His defense at 2B......
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 11:22 AM) This is incredible if true, as you get Frazier without giving up Anderson, Fulmer or Rodon. We all knew Micah Johnson had no future with the Sox, and Montas is sure more likely to be a reliever. Bingo. Love Trayce's D, but this could be a classic sell high. Sox defense in the outfield still isn't great now, but we got a pretty good defensive infield to start. I really like Trayce though.
  4. Well our outfield defense just got worse again. But I doubt Hahn is done there.
  5. Love that Abreu finally got to see his family, especially his son, after more than 2 years. I think he's going to gave a great year for us this coming season. The real story (and the least headlines cause he isn't a star player like the others) is Pena of the Cardinals. 16 years... unbelievable.
  6. Hawks got Varlamov'd tonight. Shutout the Hawks and Kane's streak ends. Hell of a run for Kaner.
  7. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 09:10 PM) DeMarcus Cousins is a bit of fools gold to me. His Usage Rate is Off the Charts and he's only shooting 43% for the season, which for a big man is terrible. Now in the right system and with the right players around him, he's an All - Star, but if you ask him to carry your team, you're going to end up like Sacramento and in mediocrity for a number of years. WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN?!?!
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 09:32 AM) Can you guys take your penis showing contest somewhere else? But are they uncircumcised like Jasons?
  9. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 03:22 PM) Ty Cobb.... and rumor has that he even blackmail the commish for some of the things he was doing, shooting at a robber, gambling on games, etc,.... Don't forget he was one of the biggest racist ever! Rose could kill a guy and he wouldn't even be half a piece of s*** as Cobb was.
  10. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 11:03 PM) Justin Upton's career OBP is .352 Yup and he's only 28. Not sure calling 2011 his "peak" when he is in his prime years now. I completely agree this team desperately needs OBP players. Hell, I've been adamant on it this whole offseason, but we also desperately need power to go along with a respectable OBP. Upton fills both of those adequately. Would like to see if this guy's plate discipline translates though.
  11. That Sharp trade looks really bad now. Hopefully Goose is up permanently now. Scuderi is slow as molasses.
  12. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 08:24 AM) I can't help but feel the same way. I don't think I have a good reason, but Frazier just seems like a guy who is really useful because he's good at a ton of things, but he's just BARELY good at them individually, so he just feels like a tiny slip in a skill or two would be make a huge difference. Agreed 100%. If this team was just a piece away, I would say go for it. Sox still have a few holes to fill to be able to compete. I'd rather have Lawrie just stay at 3B and Sanchez at 2B. Keep improving the defense and focus more on an OF/SS (hopefully get someone with a respectable OBP).
  13. That was great anticipation by Fuller. Great INT.
  14. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 06:20 PM) So let me ask you guys what do we think the move to cf does to his individual worth in the advanced stats world? So much of his value is tied up into being the best rf on the planet that I'm interested what happens to that if he's just an above average cf? I honestly believe Theo/Jed are bluffing. Heyward is such a question mark in CF. There is no way they go into the season with Schwarber and Soler as the corner OFs. That D would be bad. I still think Heyward is their RF on opening day and Soler (or Baez) is dealt for a CF.
  15. Fun fact. I actually found this site before WSI (never registered there either). Might be one of the very few who did. Was a lurker around February '03 and decided to register nearly a year later after seeing Jeremy Reed and the Barons (got an autograph too). Been a Soxtalk and FutureSox regular ever since I joined.
  16. Even with a limited sample size, Brian Anderson never had the success in PA that Thompson did.
  17. QUOTE (beautox @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 11:06 PM) Here are my thoughts 1.) Let the kids play - I want to see Trayce in CF and Sanchez at 2B both getting the lion's share of the ABs. The sox might have something in both of them but will need to play them everyday to find out. 100% agree. Sox desperate need the defense especially (as well as OBP and power). I actually like Lawrie at 3B much more than 2B. Get a defensive SS (with a good OBP.. shouldn't be too hard Hahn.. ) and a corner OF bat with good OBP and power. (Average to above D) and I like the way we're looking.
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 10:47 AM) If you are talking Tyler Lumsden...I was never very happy with that pick. I consistently ripped the Sox for how they handled that year they had the multiple picks. Of course in comparison to the Wes whisler pick, the Lumsden pick looked great. Ah my mistake. Might of been Cerb then. In either case, I agree it was just that era of the low ceiling, low floor. Thank god for that 05 year.
  19. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 10:36 AM) Would seem to miss a lot of bats, but he also misses the zone quite a bit. 4.94BB/9 in his minor league career vs. a 8.26 K/9. Career WHIP is pretty inflated at 1.41. Even his best season, which was in 2014, he had major control issues. Presume this is one of those, Sox like his arm and stuff and think he could profile as a good lefty reliever with some work from Coop. Hopefully he's not like the other tall, solid build lefty who missed bats but had control issues coming out of Clemson (whom we drafted) that you really liked. Good ol' past days of FutureSox.
  20. Dat Fire... Dat passion.. In all seriousness, he's got a lot of power in his swing.
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 09:12 AM) My friend whose a blue jays fans loved lawrie's personality. Though I think toronto fans in general like really aggressive arrogant players as some sort of compensation measure. Canadians loving other Canadians, what's wrong with that?
  22. Rousey - Holm rematch July 9th "tentatively" agreed upon per Dana White.
  23. I like Wendelken, but I like this deal even more.
  24. Him and Melky were pretty tight when they were in Toronto IIRC.
