  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 19, 2010 -> 06:09 PM) Pierre never gets rest when he's in there. That's one of his things. Yes, Pierre has a lot of CS. However...Pierre isn't the problem on that. He's been reliably at 76% all year on CS's. 75%ish is the magic number where you're actually making a difference. He has a lot of CS because he's stolen a ton of bases. If it wasn't for his craftiness on certain slides, that 76% would and should be much lower. There has been at least 7-8 times he was actually caught stealing a base, but avoided it either by slides or the SS/2B dropping the ball. His OBP as I've said many times is inflated (people will point oh, he's hitting lower in average... well then that will balance out by his career year in HBP) and don't get me started on his power. To me, he's declining.. and I hope the sox can deal him this off-season... plus I've always hated his game as a player.
  2. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 19, 2010 -> 10:29 PM) I'm impressed that some of you guys can still get excited for this. Certainly a nice comeback but I can't get into this whatsoever. Ditto. I just want to see Morel at-bats. (possibly Infante pitch)
  3. Can't believe I'm watching this game. First game I've watched in nearly a week.
  4. Well... were giving them a finish. Tigers bullpen is about as laughable as our DH this year.
  5. Hell of a game right now between the Redskins and Texans. 4th quarter, 1:20 left, tied 27-27.
  6. I would also like to give props to Earl Bennett. If there's a big thing Hester can learn from him to be an all around receiver, it's knowing how to effectively block down-field (sprung a few guys, including Hester, after the catch). Had some nice catches as well (could of broken some weak tackles after the catch, but it was his first game, not to mention learning the playbook, and missed alot of training camp, so you give him the benefit of the doubt) Very underrated WR.
  7. Ya you can't hate that pick what so ever. The back thing you can argue with however, with Angelo and company not doing their research better on that, but alot of scouts had Chris' upside as the highest out of all the OL in that draft class. He has missed a significant amount of development time already with the back surgery in his rookie year and playing on the right side for 3/4 of the season last year. The talent is there, but he might not be able to ever fully utilize it.
  8. Igor Makarov.. ya that kid looks pretty damn good.
  9. Still need to be better on 3rd down, but Cutler is looking very impressive. Like I said last week, it feels real good to have a real offensive coordinator on the team. Bears offense doesn't look close to predictable on plays as last year. Big props to Bears fans whipping boy Frank Omiyale too. Not easy to move to the left side on the fly and take on one of the best pass rushers in the game. Didn't win every battle, but contained him enough for Cutler to not get killed. Not sold as well like others, but if the Bears can win next week against Green Bay (also 2-0) I might have to start getting sold a bit here. BTW, I would like to tell wite I was right on Favre so far. Still early though I know, so let me gloat wite.
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 11:21 PM) FYI, the last time the Cardinals played over .500 baseball in September was 2004 Since taking the Cards job in winning seasons: 1996 September: 17-9 1998 September: 18-7 2000 September: 19-9 2001 September: 17-5 2002 September: 21-6 2003 September: 13-13 2004 September: 16-12 2005 September: 13-13 2006 September: 12-16 (there's one fade) 2008 September: 12-13 (there's another) 2009 September: 13-13 Not sure if August counts as the "stretch run" but the August numbers are even more impressive. I don't know how "usually" gets to mean "always" so I guess I'll have to add that to the dictionary, but on winning seasons, in September, he USUALLY gets his team to play .500 or better. (and I don't know how .500 ball in September is a bad thing) Doesn't seem to bother a team who has been to the WS twice in the last decade (won one), a championship series five times and a divisional series seven times. QUOTE (T R U @ Sep 19, 2010 -> 03:07 AM) Sick burn bro I should tell you off like I did to my boy J4L (in a playful way) but you get no such love.. or respect from me.
  11. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 19, 2010 -> 02:20 AM) Oh Pee Ess
  12. QUOTE (CQMVP @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 11:09 PM) If I could change my username, I would. I think CQ should be dumped at the earliest opportunity. Ok? I can help you with that. Click here. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10726 Ask for whatever new name you want, and one of the admins will hook you up.
  13. Maybe we can ask the Rockies management if we can borrow their team for 2 weeks. Keep impressing Morel!
  14. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 10:49 PM) You guys have the wrong Ines, the one who asked Tom Brady to marry her during the SB was Ines Gomez Mont (another hottie), not Ines Sainz...both work for TV Azteca. This is correct.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 10:43 PM) Well except for this year... Hence why I put "usually won't" not "always won't."
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 08:15 PM) LaRussa is the king of micro managing his bullpen and of playing small ball. You don't think you would have a LaRussa Ball tracker in your sig if he was hired as coach??? I agree. Not the biggest LaRussa fan at all. If anyone thinks Ozzie pisses you off in managing tactics, he certainly will. However, he is also a guy who will not take s*** from players, won't accept crap when his players get hit, players who usually play for him usually hustle, not afraid to bench guys and he won't kiss any other teams' ass. Maybe this team needs that type of manager. I guarantee a LaRussa managed team usually won't fade down the stretch thats for sure.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 06:00 PM) Sammy Sosa, July 1998 was pretty darn close. Didn't Barry Bonds have a freak 15 games or so a few years back? I don't remember the exact amount.
  18. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 04:59 PM) I wonder how Greg feels about this, being that he hates Manny, but also being that he thinks booing a player is classless and makes our fan base look bad. Actually I would think he wouldn't care much, if anything embrace it. He is one of the few here who never liked Manny (can't blame him). I thought Manny would be booed in his first at-bat in a sox uni, so I was shocked then. Not so much now.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 03:50 PM) That was a great segment with Gordo talking to Morel about hitting off of Verlander. Still a longshot with KW, but maybe... just maybe.. well... slightly... we might be looking at those two in our IF, with the Cubans. How has Morel looked BTW? I have not watched this game of course, but still would like to see how he's adjusting.
  20. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 03:29 PM) I have been thinking about how great it would be to add Rasmus since that "trade me" incident. Pierre-Rios-Rasmus OF would be great. Yuck. I will say this. Colby Rasmus is one of the few young OF I'd trade any prospect and/or pretty much any current player to get. He has not even begun to tap into his potential yet. Though that could be me, as a fan, talking as I liked the kid alot as a prospect.

    i am drunk

    QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 12:09 PM) Good drink selections. I have not been drunk in 2 weeks. Life sucks. Don't feel bad. Today marks one month for me. Suppose to go out tonight though, but I'm kinda broke.. (well see if my "friends" hook me up with some brew-skies)
  22. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 11:52 AM) Have you ever seen a fox? And then realized "s*** that's a fox, I've never seen one in real life"? I thought you were talking about a super attractive woman.. then I saw the second question, which was a total buzz kill.
