2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 01:51 PM) Yeah, adding a guy like Mayo would be as much about 2012-2015 as it would be 2011. The Celtics won't be a factor much longer. Other than that GIANT elephant in the room that is the Heat, I'd really like our chances going forward. Even if we came up short this year. You've got the big 3 in Miami signed for 3 years, the Lakers will be there (even with a 34-35 year old Kobe) the Thunder are up and comming, New York is a piece or two away, etc.. The Bulls would be in better shape, but I just don't know if O.J. Mayo would be enough. Then again.. Derrick Rose can become mini/PG LeBron in 2 years and then my concerns are out the window.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
Hmmm... interesting. Jackson is obviously the most complete wing player available (can shoot, pass, playmaker, defend, good b-ball IQ etc..) but like any other deal it has it's pros like that and cons (age, contract, the fit, etc..) He was a borderline all-star last season and obviously needs a change of scenery. This would be a message that the Bulls are going for it this year. I would obviously love Mayo (or Smith) too (despite being more overrated now-a-days and is only still in name from his high school legacy) cause of age, potential, and a bigger window (though he'll have to be signed/extended as well as Rose) but if the Bulls "feel" they can win with that starting 5 (which would be an immense upgrade over Bogans) WITHOUT giving up too much depth, then they will consider it. I personally don't think Jackson, Smith or Mayo puts the Bulls over the top.

Minor League talent rankings
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 26, 2010 -> 04:49 PM) Which is why the org tried moving Viciedo to 1b to start last season, traded for Mark Teahen, and spent $15 million extending Teahen. Morel has been a nice surprise, and Viciedo was moved back there last year because of Teahen's implosion, but really, they went out and traded for Teahen because they didn't want Viciedo at 3b and they thought Teahen would be a defensive upgrade there. Viciedo's going to need years in the minors to become an adequate 3b, and his bat doesn't belong there. No they didn't. They traded for Teahen because Viciedo was not ready yet. He was just starting AAA that year after being in AA (Morel was starting AA), not to mention he played alot of 3B for Charlotte, and if I'm not mistaken to start the year, before making the move to 1B since Pauly was in a contract year.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 26, 2010 -> 04:43 PM) I vaguely recall a regular process of one player having that said about him early in the season, followed by that player being totally passed up int eh 2nd half. I think Brandon Jennings was that guy last year. Yep, but other than Landry Fields (and I'll give alittle love to DeMarcus Cousins), the ROY race isn't as much competition as last year, especially with John Wall hurt. Griffin can go 15/8/2 the rest of the way, and he'll probably still win it (unless he pulls a Wall and gets hurt).

Nothing the Bulls can do when the Knicks are shooting over 50% from the 3 point line. Rose did an excellent job playing the passing lanes today (evidence to all his steals) but he did get hung out trying to force the issue. (turnovers) I can't stand Knicks fans (only one worse are Boston fans) so this isn't an easy one to stomach as a fan of the game.

White Sox Off-Season Catch All Thread
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 24, 2010 -> 03:33 PM) Huh? Maybe they'll miss Cust's power. But Willingham, DeJesus and Matsui sported OBPs of .389, .384 and .361 respectively last year. They're fine in that department. I know. I was saying they added but also subtracted OBP. No offense to Coco Crisp though.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Dec 24, 2010 -> 03:08 PM) Still wouldn't even put them in the top 15. Agreed, not to mention they lost Jack Cust which is quite a bit of OBP there as well. I still like their team pitching though, especially in that park.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 23, 2010 -> 05:08 PM) Me. I love the guy. Awesome skill-set. I didn't think anyone would jump me and Kalapse on the Pierre hate. Not only have you taken the 2nd spot away from me, but the 1st spot away from Kal in the span of a month.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (DBAHO @ Dec 21, 2010 -> 01:35 PM) Is it? Rip's contract is pretty bad to say the least, and he doesn't exactly have great 3PT range, which a SG probably needs in Chicago's style of offense I'd say. As much of a headcase he may be, J.R Smith could be a better option, and he's got an expiring contract to boot. As far as a pure basketball standpoint decision, you would be correct. Smith has immense talent and is still young at 25 and will be playing for a contract. He can handle the rock (be that secondary ballhandler when Rose is on the bench or even in the game which helps him immensely), shoot threes at a high rate, score in iso, create his own shot, excellent athleticism on the fastbreak to complement Rose, better player for a dribble drive motion offense (helps Deng catch and shoot off screens or cuts, Boozer in the post, etc or off the bench for secondary scoring). Problem with J.R. is the guy just can't seem to get his head out of his ass, is prone to chuckling when he gets hot (or trying to get in a rhythm) which can stall posessions and can get very selfish. Now, can Thibs help him with that? Can the Bulls vets keep him in line? That remains to be seen. The pieces to getting him will be very low I would think, so it's doubtful the Bulls will have to give up, say a Gibson, Brewer type to get J.R. (probably fillers like J.J., Bogans and/or a pick) Bulls management is obviously hoping to strike gold. (which can also be a risk) A guy like Affalo is the much better fit and player the Bulls need, but Denver probably will not move him.

Greinke traded to the Brewers
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 20, 2010 -> 05:57 PM) Why would Bush be in the rotation? Wouldn't it be Chris Narveson? 12-9, 4.99 ERA, 4.22 FIP, 4.33 xFIP, WAR of 1.7. I'll take that from my fifth starter. Yes, Narveson will be their 5th SP.

John Danks
I do not want to give this guy up. In fact, I see much more potential in him than I do in say.. Floyd for example. He also ditched Scott Boras so his price tag will not as insane when that time comes. I'm also confident something will get done from him. In fact.. I wouldn't be surprised if the sox give him a Buehrle type deal when Mark is off the books (well his contract, hopefully he will still stay for cheaper when he's a FA, but thats another topic).

Outstanding trade for both teams. I'm alot higher on Cain than most but I love that the Royals got back Escobar for the future. Grienke, Marcum, Gallardo... very nice 1-2-3 for the Brew Crew.

2010-2011 NHL thread
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 18, 2010 -> 01:41 PM) Right. That's one side to the story. The other side being that he said he'd never ever play for the Wings, then played there for 10 seasons and now work in their front office. Like I said, I understand why people would feel either way. I'm kind of indifferent to it. Like I told someone else, it'd be like Dick Butkus playing for the Packers. My friend who is a die hard hockey fan is on the other rope who booed the hell out of him because he was such a dick not only to the fans but alot of his quotes after he left Chicago.. oh and that wearing a Wings jersey on the Hawks 75th anniversary. He called the people who cheered last night the "bandwagon fans" who only want to remember Cheli how this new McCub regime WANTS them to remember them as. Though I'm sure there were other die hards who cheered for him as well and other "bandwagon" fans who booed him.
