Charlotte (Zaleski) Birmingham (Hynick) Winston-Salem (My boy N.Jones) Kanny PPD I rip Brandon Short yesterday for going 0-8 6 K's in the last couple games and he goes yard in tonight's game.

Sox vs. Rays @ 6:10 Garcia (3-3 5.68) vs. Price (7-1 2.41)

QUOTE (fathom @ May 28, 2010 -> 06:36 PM) We have a team full of awful hitters, but no one has worse at bats than Castro. I'm not a sample size person, but I believe the sox brass really s*** the boat on not just promoting the defensive Lucy who I'm confident can hit Castro's line last year minus power, but more speed. -

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ May 28, 2010 -> 06:29 PM) White Sox records through first 50 games in the last 5 years, I realize this is nothing but numbers but no matter what happens the next three days this is the worst start by the White Sox under Ozzie Guillen. 2005: 33-17 2006: 33-17 2007: 25-25 2008: 27-23 2009: 25-25 2010: ? Well we are 20-27 right now, so obviously when the sox hit the 50 games plateau, we will have a losing record for the first time in a long time. I believe it was Steve Stone who said give it 50 games to see where we are at to really analyze if this team will be good enough or not. (and KW was on the end of May bandwagon) -
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 28, 2010 -> 02:45 PM) Brenley on the broadcast said he thought A-Ram should go on the DL because of, i believe he said, his thumb. All I know is I haven't watched a ton of Cubs this year, but what I've seen, A-Ram looks terrible at the plate. Funny thing is, he is doing what most people think the sox players should do... not listen to their hitting coach. And Jaramillo is considered one of the best (if not the best) in the game.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 28, 2010 -> 01:52 PM) That's the point. They're not our best 9. Unless you mean not our best 9 this month (since Kotsay is hitting very well in May and even Vizquel, though he would be on our best 9 if he wasn't 43 and on the verge of retiring) you are 100% wrong on this one. They are our best 9. Two months don't make a career. I don't even think thunderbolt would put Jayson Nix in his best 9 and he's Nix's biggest fan on this site. -

Scot Gregor wonders if a Quentin for Fukudome trade could benefit both
SoxAce replied to pktmotion's topic in Pale Hose Talk
As much as I would love Fukudome (who I like alot) and his OBP/LH stick here, I wouldn't do that deal. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 28, 2010 -> 12:06 PM) When the arm slot drops down, it means there is pain somewhere. He was throwing his slider alot again recently... whoops.

QUOTE (Tex @ May 28, 2010 -> 11:35 AM) I'll check the results after the Hawks game . . . Hawks play tomorrow night. -
QUOTE (BearSox @ May 28, 2010 -> 11:32 AM) Also, trading a solid pitcher in Ely for the expensive Pierre (8 million is too much for him) before letting the market play itself out with Pods. Dodgers are paying for half of Pierre's contract FYI.

Swisher actually was a Rick Hahn type move when you think about it. He is the definition of a saber player. A guy like Juan Pierre on the other hand, is known as a saber nightmare.

I hope people can now put an end to the hype, and to who STILL is the most athletic PG in the NBA... ever. - Ford's twitter. And mind you.. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 28, 2010 -> 07:46 AM) Terry Doyle is a guy I didn't pay much attention to before, but he's becoming interesting. Meh.. talk to me when he's doing this in AA/AAA. He is still too old for the league in W-S. I "pay" attention in him enough to see if he is still striking out guys at a great rate. Maybe that goes to show how special Huddy was last year and is now/still pitching in AAA a year and a few months younger than Doyle.

It will be nice to have a GM that understands the sabermetrics side of the game that is for sure.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ May 28, 2010 -> 08:25 AM) I voted for wanting Ozzie out at the end of the season, and that nothing will change at the end of the season. Agreed completely. I voted KW on the second one though, only cause KW said himself that he would take any kind of blame and either re-sign or possibly move somewhere else in the position. (moving up wouldn't be a bad idea for him)

The Knights are playing the Pirates AAA affiliate. That is a fun team to watch with alot of those prospect names.
-
If this team gets swept or loses 3/4 to the Rays, someone might have to create that "are you in or out" thread, though I would suspect it would be three times more lopsided than it was last season.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 27, 2010 -> 07:22 PM) Its interesting Viciedo moved back to 3B in Charlotte. Wasn't he playing first? I think KW knows this Teahen thing isn't going to improve much. He's been playing 1B for quite a bit now. In fact.. he's playing 1B as we speak for Charlotte.

QUOTE (scenario @ May 27, 2010 -> 07:11 PM) I'm in Florida listening to the Rays TV broadcast team announce the game. They were talking about the difference between how the Red Sox (the series they just finished) and White Sox hitters approach the game. They said the Red Sox hitters were much more patient and worked deeper into counts... and that the White Sox were much more notorious first ball hitters who went up to the plate swinging and didn't walk much. Sounds about right. Funny thing is, aren't we like 10th in the league in BBs and 1st in the league in the least amount of SOs or something like that? Hell the sox got 3 BBs in this game to TB's 1 though I know what TB is saying. I would think it applied more-so in other years than this one.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ May 27, 2010 -> 06:16 PM) Tyler's K-rate is becoming rather scary. I feel really sorry for most of the knights hitters that have Gary Ward as their hitting coach. What is crazy is that Brent Lillibridge is hitting like he deserves another shot at the bigs. Brandon Short last 2 games.. 0-8, 6 Ks.

Ha, and just like that my PTC gets a homer.

I missed a chunk of the game here, other than reading the thread here, now seeing pitchfx as a joke if that pitch was a strike, (thanks kalapse) and seeing we still have 0 runs, I'm glad Gavin had a pretty good outing for himself again.
