6/12 Games
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 07:17 PM) D2...it's virtually impossible for him to succeed if he can't cut his k rate by 25-40%. D2 doesn't have the power to pull off decent numbers if he's striking out 150+ times a year; he'd be a weaker version of BJ Upton/Grady Sizemore/Curtis Granderson. Those guys succeed with 150ish K's a year, but they're not turning into the kind of MVP's that they could be, and D2 currently doesn't have their kind of power. You are pretty much arguing with yourself Balta about Danks 2. I've been knowing about Danks, and I don't think anyone here would disagree with you there.

6/12 Games
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 06:11 PM) Huh? I'm the one worried he needs to cut down on the K's, like the rest of the org. You mentioned K's and power actually. But ya K's was one of them as well, though his walk rate has been pretty good to as opposed to Danks. (not to mention the lack of power from him)

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 06:00 PM) Flowers homered. His 4th in 6 games. Not that he had to cause he was already doing well in the power department prior, but I think he listened to Balta and took it to heart.

For the Love of Chase Blackwood
QUOTE (girlslikebaseballtoo#26 @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 05:52 PM) Thank you to those of you defending me and Chase!! I appreciate it a lot. All I'm here for is to be a positive person in Chase's life ..remind him when he gets frustrated that all he can do is keep his head up and not sweat the small things!! I thought trying to get more people behind him would be an encouragement to him. It's not like I'm on here trying to fill anyone's head with BS about Chase, I post negatives just the same as I would a positive. I'm not all about "Oh, Chase Blackwood is the best Baseball player in the world" pfff, that would just be naive ..and that, I am not! I know we haven't seen much from him so far this season and I know all about the .532 OPS ..this is Chase's 2nd season pro and he hasn't seen consistent batting time for any of it ..Chase is doing a lot better now and will only continue to do so!! So, by all means, post the numbers, they aren't something I haven't seen before!! We have had quite a few minor leaguer's friend(s), mom/dad/relative(s) and now a fiancee. I still remember a minor leaguer's friend or mom (I can't remember) getting into it with a poster here 4 or 5 years ago defending their guy. I'm just glad that a guy in our affiliate knows about futuresox/soxtalk (just like a few front office people). The more, the merrier, and it helps with future interviews for our soxtalk posters who are also futuresox guys working countless hours to put out a great website over there. Wouldn't mind seeing Chase post here from time to time (or give a good interview for our sister site in futuresox) if he wants as well. We will add him to the McCarthys the Bullards, the Bajaneros, the Andersons, the Fields, the Morels etc.. of guys who either post here or were in interviews there. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 05:56 PM) I'm sure if he gets a chance to catch Chris Sale, you guys will be lining up to hear what he had to say about it. No doubt about it, and for me personally, not just Sale. (who knows where he could be in W-S too) I would love to hear from a couple of arms who we just drafted, or guys who look promising from who I remember last year (not to mention keep telling him to pick on Dan Black. )

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 06:49 PM) That's why I didn't even respond back. Nothing good would come about it. It's obvious in her mind dude is Barry Bonds. And there is nothing wrong with that. Hell if I ever get married (god forbid.. ) in my mind, my wife would look like _________*insert beautiful cover model's name.* Could care less if anyone thinks she isn't THAT hot, she is to me.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 05:14 PM) You knew exactly what you were doing when you posted that. But, I certainly am not going to sit here and say it was an "attack". It was just kind of a tacky post at that point in the thread. Pretty much the usual "asshole/douche" post from Steve. If you know him like most of us do, it ain't no thang.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 06:20 PM) This is our run...Albeit, against the NL, but this is going to be nice for the next few weeks. Sums it up. Not going to get excited one bit till after the NL series, but I'll gladly take beating up on the Cubs to shut up Cub fans to do that.

More pressure situations for the rookie here.

Silva still pitched a very good game from all accounts. I know our offense isn't exactly great, but I still thought he could score about 4-6 runs off him. Also GREAT outing by Buehrle today.

HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!
I guess I'm one of the few that sees it blown a tad out of proportion here, only because most of those kids were either too far away to actually see what the guys were doing on top of the trolley in the parade, or had no idea what he was drinking anyway, unless the parents foolishly told them what he really was drinking (I would think I would tell my kid he is drinking pop, juice, etc.. and wasn't "feeling too well" to speak). Not condoling what he did, but hell Kane is still a naive 21 year old who had his name in the papers alot the prior off-season and season, he has to mature himself to learn. I guess that also shows the class of Toews more. As Sharp said, most of the teammates have to check his birth certificate to make sure he is only 22. BTW, anyone who was at the parade (at least from where I was) there was much more drunk idiots acting fools around alot of people (including the kids) anyways.

Cardinals looking for pitching. MB to Cards?
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 06:38 PM) Like the Twins when they dumped Santana for prospects. Haven't won since. To be fair, the Twins were really taking the heat to deal him when most of baseball knew they had to. They should have gotten way more than they did. It was considered a huge steal for the Mets and the only prospect that looked good (besides Guerra) was Gomez (who was really overhyped, most were shocked guys like F. Martinez, Pelfrey/Humber, etc.. etc.. were not in the deal). I don't care about the decent guys you trade for good prospects if need be, but when there is a 25 year old young player who IMO is the future (if not already by some) ace of this team because he hasn't signed an extension, that is where I have a problem with.

Does AJ get traded this weekend?
QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 05:28 PM) the worst possible thing to happen is for us to beat up on these National League teams especially with another Cubs series and a Pirates and Nationals series, sigh, KW might be trying to ADD to this mess if we don't watch out.. This times 1000. Not to mention it will keep some posters hopes up here as well. (already seen a couple guys now think we may have turned a corner once again for the 1000th time this season)

HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!
Insane parade. Pretty crowded of course and hot, but it was all worth it. Like how that random guy started throwing beers to everyone. Alot of the people I was around were very nice (two guys gave me 2 beers and I was slick to drink them before I was caught) All around great day.

Toughest trophy to win in sports
I would say the NHL personally and I'm not even that big of a follower in hockey till the last couple of years. When you got as many upsets every year (had a 8 seed beat a 1 seed and a 2 beat a 7, 6 beat a 3, etc.. just this year) it goes to show how anything can happen in the postseason in that sport. Most of the others (NBA, MLB, NFL, Golf [if you want to call that a sport] Tennis, etc..) you actually have a good shot of predicting who will win it all before they even start playing or at least know who the final 4 guys would be. NCAA is an interesting one though. Not sure I want to count college sports though with professionals (in that case college baseball is hard too) but it is up there as well for me.
