  1. To me it just figures that him retiring was again overshadowed by something. Most of his career (especially in the steroid era) was overshadowed cause of the steroid era (same as Frank), now the day he retires... overshadowed by a non perfect game blown call. Such a shame he couldn't win a ring.
  2. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 4, 2010 -> 12:51 AM) I forgot where I read the comparison, but Josh Hamilton is a really good comparison. I envision something similar to Hamilton's 08 for Harper except more K's, more power, less average, and more of a pull hitter. Kind of like if Ryan Howard and Josh Hamilton had a son. If he is anything like Hamilton and Howard (or a cross mix) he will be an all-star, especially if he sticks at catcher. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jun 3, 2010 -> 07:30 PM) Harper was ejected from a game at the JUCO world series yesterday for arguing a strike call. Juco rules state that if a player is ejected twice during a season, he's suspended for two games. Since Harper was ejected earlier this year, he sits two games, and his juco career might be over. If there is one down side to Harper since high school, it has always been his temper. Hopefully for the Nats sake he matures alot over the minor league level, cause he will get alot of calls (hitting and catching for his pitcher) that he will not like.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 3, 2010 -> 11:30 PM) He won't be there, unless he beats out Rios. We will only get one all star. I haven't followed how all the closers are doing in the AL, but if it's like every other year where there are 4-5 good ones Thornton again has no chance. Agreed. Rios should and probably will be our only star rep.
  4. I had Lakers in 6 going into this series. As J4L said, if this is what the Celtics really are gonna do, it will probably be over alot faster than many think. Lakers still have those younger legs. Hell, Bynum and his half shredded knee has more hops than Garnett right now. EDIT: Kobe's face is hilarious...

It is a damn shame Marrero isn't hitting for average for the Barons. He has been really damn impressive with his plate discipline. Would have been up in AAA a while ago if he was hitting at least in the .280s. Good thing about Morel is he hasn't K'd once in 6 ABs in AAA. (which is usual for most of our top prospect position players not named Gordon Beckham who only had 2 I believe in 28+ ABs)
  6. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 3, 2010 -> 05:03 PM) pins in Teahen's finger?? damn, didn't realize it was that bad. out 6 weeks. Add Trayce Thompson getting 4 pins on his right thumb when he gets surgery (luckally he won't be out the season) to the other injuries and this is shaping up to be a terrific season for the sox organization.
  7. Don't really care anymore but.... Jones.
  8. I'll probably watch the whole game tonight since there is literally nothing else on T.V. for me to tune into. I don't know if i'll get amped up to watch the sox until either we play the kids (sucky or not) or until Strasburg pitches against us.
  9. Hopefully if he's hired, he can put Rose in a defensive boot camp this summer. Hell, I wouldn't even mind David Lee if we can't get Bosh/Amare if that is the case. (possibly even more now) Dude is taking the Noah route of improvement every year.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 3, 2010 -> 03:29 PM) Grady Sizemore may wind up having the infamous microfracture surgery. Man he has been falling apart the last couple of years due to injury.
  11. QUOTE (qwerty @ Jun 3, 2010 -> 12:57 AM) Rooting for armando galarraga while he is with the tigers... or any team in the division for that matter... is rooting againt the sox... in my book anyway. Glad I don't give a s*** about your book then or any "uninformed secret" rules about the game. Like I said before, if he is pitching against us, hell to the f***ing no, and I hope he gets smacked around for 10 ER in a IP. Now if he is pitching against the Twins for the division title, I could give two s***s if the Tigers lose or not, but if he pitches well, then that is fine by me. I will also say that if he pitches has any barring on the SOX season (say perhaps a chance for the sox to clinch in any way instead of the Tigers for example), then again, I will say hell to the f***ing no. Anything dealing with the white sox I will not root for that man. Besides that.. it's fair game as far as I'm concerned.
  12. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 2, 2010 -> 11:00 PM) There was nothing he could have done on that play. He was positioned perfectly. You sure about that? I remember seeing him back into on his own goalie, then deflects the puck with his skate making Niemi make a better save than a shot off a stick could have, which the puck deflects out to be buried into the net.
  13. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 3, 2010 -> 12:29 AM) That's my point. You don't mind the Royals because you don't view them as a threat. Well the Sox are as irrelevant as irrelevant can be. So I don't really care what our rivals do, at least not like I would if we were actually a good team. Well I agreed with TRU in a sense is I just hate Detroit. I hate everything about the city, fans, sports teams, etc. I find it hilarious that it happened to them. Now with that said, I will definitely root for Gallarraga through-out his career unless he is playing us. Gets screwed over, and was nothing but class about it. I respect that alot.
  14. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 2, 2010 -> 09:59 PM) You look at Texas' team, they only have two lefties. I have to go with Bobby. If they go with lefties, I might take a chance with Thornton. Said it many times about him... Micro-managing at its finest.
  15. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 2, 2010 -> 07:28 PM) Huddy and Torres. This. Torres has nothing to prove anymore in AAA. (actually should of been the extra pitcher with the way our SP has struggled, and Pena being so much stretched out) Not sure about Flowers as they are dicking around his swing there. Not sure if I want him to stay there with Gary Ward (shivers) or go up with Greg Walker.
  16. QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 2, 2010 -> 08:16 PM) Somewhere Ace is crying.. The Griffey news was much worse. Morel goes 0-3 in his debut.
  17. Joe West, Bill Hahn.. now Jim Joyce. And honestly I watched the replay, usually when the ball beats the runner they give it to him, though I can see the bobbled in the glove argument as well.
  18. Jesus... my favorite player of all time (emulated his stance to hitting left-handed, to playing CF) is officially done. He and Frank I adored growing up. I actually teared up a bit hearing this.
  19. Hmmm... looks like I missed alot. I'll be tuning in to Sportscenter for once. BTW, I'm with TRU, a big LOL on the Tigers though now I'm a big fan of Galarraga.
  20. Damn you Jordan Hendry. Well all this means is we win on Friday and take this in Chicago on Sunday.
  21. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 2, 2010 -> 08:59 PM) I guess I just take the example of him being a whiney b**** several times and then him half assing it in this year's playoffs anytime the score didn't treat him well. Hard to give it all for your team when one of your best friends has been humping your mom.
  22. Happy B-Day to one of the better saber guys on the site.
  23. Haha, now all we need now in a thread is how Roger Bossard's field is terrible for our team to play in.
  24. I actually think the Hawks win this one, the Flyers win the next one, prompting the "Flyers are gonna come back from 3-0 down again" from the media and then the Hawks finish them off at the UC making my original prediction of Hawks in 5 come true.
