QUOTE (Real @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 03:04 PM) Prepare, Soxtalkers, to be cockblocked by an NL team I'd be more than happy with that

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 12:17 PM) Almost anything could be collectively bargained...so the Union could certainly make an issue of that. The question is...what would the Union give up to get that? The Union is probably going to make something of an issue about teams like Florida that don't spend their revenue sharing dollars on salary...but they're never going to push for anything resembling a salary floor...because the logical demand from the owners in return is a salary cap. good point. There needs to be some sort of a check and balance here though. THe whole idea of revenue sharing is to help prop up teams that arent financially stable to make the league more competitive. But, some of that money isnt being used that way. If I were Boston or NY, I'd be super pissed right now... to know that their money is being used to lien the pockets of other owners.

Could MLB change the rules to not allow teams to make a profit if they haven't fully spent the revenue shared with them?

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 23, 2010 -> 03:55 PM) This was interesting. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=5484947 While $15 million profit sounds good, this is the bleak point: without rev. sharing the team would have been $-24,638,063 in the red in 2008.

QUOTE (Wedge @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 09:30 AM) The bullpen would like to know where you've been lately and why you haven't returned its calls. I think this sums it up very nicely: @FakeJoeCowley I hope Manny has a good pitching arm. Sox will be putting a waiver claim on the corpse of Babe Ruth. Having the bones of the best ball player ever is a moral booster. Talked to my sources, Manny's curve ball is below average. But, his "b**** and moan" ball is way above average. No worries. Manny will make the pitching all better. I have been told Manny Christ has the ability to heal injuries. That is good news of Putz and Thornton.

Terry Boers was just glowing over this today.

I always figured Blogo as more of a cartoon than a comic book hero.

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Aug 21, 2010 -> 02:34 PM) I am sure Hawk will make some comment about it.... Then blame Mariotti for a Sox batter striking out in the 3rd inning.

The day my wife and I got married she handed over all of her finances (bills, loans, bank accounts) and said "you take care of them. I dont want anything to do with this anymore." Now, ironically, she get very pissed when I say "We cant afford this right now" or "no, you cant be a stay at home mom, we cant afford to do that"

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 20, 2010 -> 02:44 PM) http://lifehacker.com/5616395/how-to-disable-facebook-places Wait, friends can check me into places??? HOLY CRAP! That's find of a huge privacy thing there.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 20, 2010 -> 02:35 PM) Which everyone on Facebook should do by switching it to "disabled". F*cking facebook. Default should NEVER be "enabled". Well, my understanding is that it only uses your location if you tell it to. you have to go out of your way to Facebook your location. SO, i dont see it being all THAT bad. If you never use it, it is in a sense disabled.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Aug 20, 2010 -> 10:24 AM) Piranha 3-D pulling in a 85% at Rotten Tomatoes. it just looks so horrible from all the previews i've seen.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 20, 2010 -> 10:12 AM) That's pretty weak sauce. It's pretty deliberate on Facebooks part. Giving FourSquare a big middle finger.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 20, 2010 -> 10:08 AM) The number 4? There is an odd break in the purple/green boundary at the edge of the Google style dot where the color boundary doesn't line up on each side, Not sure what else to see. it's a 4 in a square.... a FourSquare
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 20, 2010 -> 10:02 AM) Looks a lot like the little marker dots that show up on Google maps. yea, but look a little closer. What is the marker on?
-
QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 19, 2010 -> 06:31 PM) Speaking of Foursquare, recently Facebook added "places" which is basically their answer to Foursquare, and it's enabled by default. Granted, it's all irrelevant if you don't participate in it and check in at these l locations, but it's kind of funny how clueless Facebook execs are about their reputation for being s*** with privacy. It's like they literally have no idea what they're doing sometimes. Did you happen to notice the "places" logo? Look closely....

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 10:28 PM) Anyone else watch the Hoff Roast? Greg Giraldo's Gary Coleman joke was fantastic. I finally got around to watching the entire Roast last night. Pretty good. Whitney Cummings, Greg Giraldo, and Jeffrey Ross were HYSTERICAL. The rest were ok or blah. Oh, and Whitney Cummings... HOLY CRAP!! That body... oh my!

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 03:57 PM) Guess you never heard of San Diego. they do get earthquakes. In fact, a former co-worker of mine just moved there. It's about the closest you can get to perfect.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 03:12 PM) Actually that was my point. Even the "small" hurricanes can destroy plenty. Trust me, I lived through one. They are incredibly destructive and costly. I'm not overly concerned. There's no perfect place to live in the united states. Every place has it's draw backs: snow, tornado, hurricanes, earthquakes, valcanos

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 03:08 PM) Its not like a Cat 1 or 2 storm is something to scoff at. You are still talking about winds sustained as high as 100 mph+. Oh no doubt. Just saying it's not nearly as bad as some people might make it out to be.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 01:49 PM) Hurricanes, dude. When people mention Florida, most think Hurricanes. But since 2000, I think only 3 hurricanes has actually entered the "non-panhandle" part of Florida (and two of those were in one year) and most tend to hit the southern tip, not central Florida where we are going to move. Since 1950, only 13 hurricanes made landfall with a rating of 3 or higher, most of which hit the tip or panhandle.
