  1. I really hate the multi-pen signing thing. So dumb.
  2. I am going to be pissed if I finish 2nd (where I am today) because I forgot to pick Duke to go to the E8.

  5. Facebook Comment of the day: I'm gonna bet he wont be returning his military pension or Social Security when he's 75. If it's so evil, dont take the money.
  6. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 22, 2010 -> 01:26 PM) OK, I have to ask... if you knew this person would do this... why did you send it to him/her at all? He's not in today and he always says the best way to contact him is e-mail.
  7. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 09:24 AM) How is it that people are this ignorant? I'm not talking about people's stances on abortion, mind you. I'm talking about the fact that not only does the bill prohibit it... federal law already prohibits it as well... AND the Prez signed a needless XO to affirm said law, just to make it very clear. And yet, people STILL think this is some sort of baby killing initiative. This means that they either spouted off knowing absolutely nothing, or knew something and are being intentionally false. Either way... ignorant. So many of the problem we have in government could be solved by voters taking a little time to educate themselves, instead of going purely off the 30 second tidbits they hear on some blathering radio or TV talking head's show. I've tried to make the argument to several people but they just come back with BS nonsense about loop-holes and backroom deals, and follow the money. I just dont fight it any more. it's not with my time.
  8. QUOTE (Tex @ Mar 22, 2010 -> 07:43 PM) I did the same thing. About 75% of my friends are GOPerheads. Reply 1: It says I won't either, but even if I do, I am glad to tighten the belt a bit if it means my fellow human beings can get health care. I don't understand the vitriol over this bill. Reply 2: Kind of reminds me of another great government lie: "I'm from the Government and I'm here to help." Reply 3: How about the lie that was made in the State of the Union speech tha the health care reform bill would not include any Federal funding for abortion? Sure seems to me that there is language in the bill that will allow this.
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 22, 2010 -> 04:52 PM) What does the Health Care Bill mean for me? I am posting the link to my facebook page. This should be fun.....
  10. Purely hypothetical question: Under this new system, can my family drop employer insurance and join an exchange?
  11. Sucks to be him: Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund, said her group was revoking its “Defender of Life” award to Stupak, which was to be awarded at its Wednesday night gala. “Let me be clear: Any representative, including Rep. Stupak, who votes for this health...care bill can no longer call themselves ‘pro-life,’” Dannenfelser said.
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 22, 2010 -> 12:28 PM) http://www.aticketforrush.com/ That's awesome
  13. Confusing Facebook Comment of the day: You thought healthcare was expensive before, wait till it's free!
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 22, 2010 -> 11:48 AM) My last job used Lotus Notes and their email system gave you that option. hmmm ok. I sent an e-mail this morning and I just KNOW the person I sent it to is going to either click "Reply to all" and add in the e-mail of the person I was talking about or click Forward (and forward to the person) and reply to the important people. He's done this before and it's largely because he's tech illiterate, but it's kind of a bad practice to forward an e-mail about someone you are talking about TO that person.
  15. Does anyone know if there is a "do not forward" option on e-mail? I was just thinking about this and I thought it would be a nice option so people dont accidentally forward private conversations.
  16. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 22, 2010 -> 09:58 AM) And does it bother anyone else that the people voting on this bill could not possibly have read the whole thing? Why does the bill need to be 2k pages long? I said this a while ago with regards to another bill. The GOP was raising a stink saying "we never had time to read this. You expect me to vote on a bill I havent read?" Those that voted no would STILL have voted no... even IF they had time to read the while thing. Most of the concepts and wording have been around for MONTHS! So any argument saying "We didn't have time to read it" is total grand standing B.S. You had time to know and read the basics. Now, are there things in there that people might not have read? Absolutely. Did they REALLY intend on reading word for word the entire bill? Of course not.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 22, 2010 -> 10:23 AM) So insurance companies sell for-profit plans inside the exchanges but they can't single out and remove certain high-risk groups. It is a huge boon to small business in reality; it gives them a chance to purchase insurance at the type of rates that larger companies would be able to negotiate even if they're small. ahhhhh ok. That clears it up for me. I was under the impression the exchanges were basically a non-profit insurance company. Thanks!
  18. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 22, 2010 -> 09:58 AM) 3) How does this affect private insurance companies? Do we really believe that they're just going to drop prices for the hell of it? Aren't they going to become more specialized? Offer you a better package (who you can go see, what gets covered, the terms of your policy, etc) for a higher price, knowing that the government option is going to be cheap and force you to go to public (i.e. underfunded/mismanaged) hospitals? Here's my impression of this. Based simply on the little I've read about the Small Business Health Options Programs ("SHOP Exchanges"), these exchanges will make existing private companies have to be a little more competitive to compete with exchanges... as I believe these exchanges are non-profit.
  19. Man, UNI made me eat some major crow. My wife's family was in town form Iowa yesterday. They were talking about wanting to get back home to watch the UNI game. I said "UNI doesnt stand a chance on this side of the moon of beating Kansas". Yea, my wife had to call her mom and rub it in my face.
  20. There are no public options, but there are "exchanges" correct?
  21. That is the definition of Epic Fail.
  22. Does anyone have a good place to look for a synopses of the new reform bill? I've been a little busy the last week and have NO clue what is going on.
