  1. That's more than Rowand. Who is going to backup Crede? Uribe I assume, and possibly Gload on certain days.
  2. He made $312,000 last year, so I believe he you're right that he is a cheap solid backup. Does this affect Gload? Guillen seemed like he was pretty set on having the third catcher/backup third baseman in Burke. I like the move, but I'm a little confused to where the 25 man roster is, and what roles everyone will fill.
  3. Colorado Rockies Updated:03/26/2004 The Denver Post reported the Mets were aggressively pursuing Damian Jackson, whose roster security had vanished because of the continued strong play of Luis Gonzalez, a utility player, and Jackson's poor showing at the plate. The newspaper said the Orioles also had expressed interest. The Rocky Mountain News reported the Rockies also had talked with teams about deals for non-roster players Denny Hocking and Benji Gil.
  4. There are at least two teams interested in Damian Jackson, Baltimore and someone else. Therefore, I'm not so sure he is easily attainable. However, I am in agreement with those who believe Harris and Uribe will be productive and fill the role well.
  5. Early in the offseason, there was a rumor that C. Lee could play first if PK was traded. I wouldn't mind that in the least if he proved he could play the position and with that outfield. That's a little ways a way though. Although, probably not too early to consider it.
  6. Grilli will win the long reliever position. He's pitched well enough to earn that spot, despite a few rough outings. Besides, he's a good pitcher with a lot of upside now that he is healthy. Plus if he doesn't make the team, we have to return him to the Marlins.
  7. Maybe, just maybe, PK will be done when these guys are ready to come up and Maggs is still with us. And Carlos Lee possibly fulfilling an offseason rumor of playing first base. If he could handle first, we would have a sick lineup. And even if Maggs did walk, and those guys made up the outfield, and Lee took first base, we could have a sick lineup still and possibly a dominant pitching staff. Time will tell, but I believe the future looks bright.
  8. I agree in not putting too much stock into this. It really comes down to producing guys at the major league level. We have guys that look like they are going to be really good players. We have a good core of players on our current team, and hopefully we can fill holes faster than we need to replace them. I'm not too worried about it though. I'm probably just biased, but from what I've seen in our system, I think we look pretty decent. We could use some more infield prospects, and that's probably evident in our ranking, but with the numerous extra picks we are going to get this draft on top of what we already have, we can fill up on infield positions and pitching. You always have to get pitching, but I think we look pretty good there in the near future even. Granted, whoever we get this draft, we will be waiting for a little while. However, some guys move up fast, like Reed. Either way though, the future looks bright from my perspective.
  9. It probably is best, but when he did it in winter ball, he batted .115. Although, that could have been a combination of rust and a new approach at the plate. I'm sure he'll be better in doing this in the long run.
  10. Alright Rowand, working the count and producing.
  11. Frank is an ideal 3 spot hitter, because the 3 spot requires a person who has power and also takes walks.
  12. If that's the case, and it sounds about right, my vote goes for Gload and Burke. Uribe can take the pinch hitting responsibilities when coming off the bench. Gload can be the fourth outfielder. Burke can cover third when need be, and be a third catcher.
  13. Hey Super Steve, it's my birthday today. How about a post about something, whatever, lol. It really is my birthday though.
  14. I think I enjoy SuperSteve's posts the most. Nice pic.
  15. Oh totally. I only meant he can play it. It's just another part of his versatility. Hopefully a guy like Burke can make the team and we can have a more ideal third baseman for giving Crede a day off. I like that scenerio, especially if Gload shows he can center when need be. I like Everett, but if he can, I don't see why Gload can't do it too. Especially since it will only happen on occasion. We'll see, but Burke can play third, and it gives us the advantage of having three catchers on the roster. We'll find out soon enough what they're planning on doing. Hey, it's my birthday in a few minutes. Woooohoooo, lol.
  16. Gload can play the outfield. I'm not sure how well he can play center, but one of the reasons he is going to make the team is because of his versatility, which includes playing the outfield.
  17. He's a lefty but he can play third. If Burke makes the team, then he will probably be the guy to give Crede days off from time to time. However, Gload can play it.
  18. Gload can be a fourth outfielder/pinch hit/play third/play first.
  19. Ya, and people said our pitching staff sucks. You know what, people suck.
  20. Where did people hear his elbow was a problem? They never said anything about it last year, and I hadn't heard that during the offseason either. Does anyone have a source where it said his elbow was giving him trouble?
  21. Tying? There's no tying in baseball.
  22. That's right, I got mixed up. My bad.
