2015 Films thread
Saw Kingsmen last night. Pretty fun but you could tell that it was low-budget. I enjoyed the dark comedy/violence but my wife wasn't that interested. I'd say it's a solid rental - 3.5 stars out of 5.

Sox Looking at Upton
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 02:43 PM) Why not? I am sure you hear lots of White Sox news on the Kansas U golf beat. Lawrence KS is a White Sox hotbed.

Cespedes to the Mets according to Levine
I had forgotten about the Dodgers having so many SPs. Which contender needs a starting pitcher?

Cubs Acquire Dan Haren
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 01:29 PM) Well he'll be fun to watch when the wind's blowing out at Wrigley. He gives up a lot of HRs as is. Even kids in old Boys and Girls Clubs commercials know that.

Samardzija Trade Packages
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 20, 2015 -> 01:52 PM) However, Jose Q does not have an obvious flashing red flag about his performance in future years like Samardzija's K-rate. I'm not the geologist here, but... red flags flash?

Historic Sox Audio...
QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 12:47 PM) 1991 - Robin Ventura's walk off grand slam off Goose Gossage. Sox would win 10-8. Announcers: Ken "Hawk" Harrelson and Tom Paciorek. Courtesy: SportsChannel-Chicago / Chicago White Sox. Is that the one where Thomas hoists him on his back like a fireman? I love that highlight.

White Sox Need to be careful
I'd love Nelson Cruz if he was available for an affordable amount.

White Sox Need to be careful
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 12:15 PM) I think the Dodgers would consider that. I'd have rather gotten in on Olivia, haha. You should have made this thread a SoxNet article. lol

Sox Looking at Upton
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 11:08 AM) What you need a list of guys who dominated AAA. A top prospects list leaves off guys like Jeff Bajenaru and Andy Wilkins who destroyed AAA, but flopped at the majors. There are lots and lots of guys who do exactly that who never show up on lists like that. Many top prospects never sniff AAA. They go from AA to the majors. AAA is for fillers and guys trying to make it back to the majors.

Sox Looking at Upton
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 11:07 AM) Not really. vs LHP LF - Upton/Cespedes CF - Eaton RF- Melky DH - Avi vs RHP LF - Upton/Cespedes CF - Eaton RF - Melky DH - LaRoche Not that complicated. I'd rather keep Melky in LF and put Upton in RF.

Sox Looking at Upton
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 10:34 AM) So basically I assume the Padres are insisting on Anderson and we're countering with Cleuluis Rondon. And so we won't be getting Upton. Unless they'd be okay with Sanchez or Saladino.

Sox Looking at Upton
QUOTE (staxx @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 10:14 AM) EJ isn't a player you really want to give up. He's MLB ready and has proven that he can be a SP. Montas still probably has a >50% chance of ending up a reliever. Johnson feels like fool's gold to me. He looks great in AAA but is a risk to crash and burn and lose his confidence in the majors again. At least with Montas you have a potential setup/closer.

Confirmed three-way trade
The Sox should look at Morse if he's basically free now.

Sox Looking at Upton
I'd be fine with Erik Johnson, Avasail Garcia, Matt Davidson, and Hector Noesi for Upton. None of those guys is going to do much in the majors on the Sox. I just don't think that it's going to get done without Anderson or Montas involved, which I'm against.

Sox Looking at Upton
When you're struggling around .500, it's really hard to trade top prospects for a guy that will probably not even re-sign with you. I'd love Upton. He's an amazing player. I just don't think he's worth emptying the system for if he's gone in 2 months.

Non White Sox Rumors
I wonder if it would be a death-knell to the Rays franchise if they traded Longoria.
-
Predict the Sox deadline.
I'd love for them to get a 3B, but anyone out there that can help is extremely expensive and not worth their future contract.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 09:55 AM) Sounds like maybe you have cookies blocked, and it isn't allowing it to save your sign on from screen to screen? Mine logs off daily if I use Google Chrome browser on my phone then log in on my browser on a laptop/desktop, but losing cookies on mobile that quickly is a new issue.

More evidence of Chicago media turning on Ventura
QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 09:44 AM) So Sale vs Garrett Richards or Keuchel? Gimme LA It's Garrett Richards or Keuchel vs. the Sox offense. The only way that they are getting to the WC game or farther is if the hitting doesn't go in a massive slump again.
