QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 05:57 PM) Sorry. I'm just messin' with you. But sunofgold/soxmaniac hybrid have ruined nicknaming for everybody. -

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 05:52 PM) In a way, he's our PeavDog for the position players. Please, I've had enough corny nicknames around here to last me until 2037. No Peavdog. -
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 04:58 PM) Plus the Lakers never get fleeced in any deals, they usually do the fleecing. That's what the elite organizations do. Not waiting around for a Michael at #3 or a Rose at 1.7% chance. The Bulls, like the rest of the east, are going to be the Heat's b****es for the next 3-4 years.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 04:42 PM) Like when Iverson did it at about the same time? Philly didn't want him anymore. And he refused to play because whomever the hell was coaching at the time, I can't remember, wanted him to come off the bench.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 04:34 PM) If Kobe was serious in wanting to get out of L.A. he could have sat out/refused to play. Until he did that, the Lakers were going to have to get a stellar deal to move him. So no...Kobe Bryant Was Not Serious about leaving L.A. Nope, I don't buy it. Kobe didn't get up in front of the world and say , "do something or else" just for show. And this isn't the NFL. When do you ever see guys just refuse to play in the NBA?
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 04:26 PM) But he wasn't going to go to Chicago if Chicago traded away Deng, leaving him the only player left on the roster, and the Lakers weren't going to do that deal without Deng coming back because everything else would have been a joke of a price for Bryant. And Kobe had a no trade clause, so he could genuinely say no...for whatever reason. I've heard that. You said Kobe wasn't serious. He was serious. Could anything have been worked out that didn't include Deng? We'll never know. But don't say Kobe was just woofin'.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 04:17 PM) It fell apart because Kobe wasn't serious about going, had a no-trade clause, and wasn't going to go to another city that had just gutted its roster for him. In the other 2 cases, the Bulls couldn't offer cap relief. They could have offered a better deal for Gasol but without cap help, and anyway, the Grizz were determined to help the Lakers out there,. Sorry, you're wrong. Kobe was dead serious about leaving BEFORE Gasol was acquired. He's admitted it. Those in the organization have said as much.
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 04:15 PM) Was it ever really revealed how realistic the Kobe deal was and why, if it was a real thing, it fell apart? I remember what I read. But I don't know for sure. I'm not an insider. But this has happened too many times. What are you promising Luol Deng anything for?
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 04:10 PM) Yes, I mean those exact cases where it wasn't the Bulls who pulled out of the deals but the Bulls still get blamed for them. I see. So poor Chicago Bulls? We see guys like Gasol, KG, Paul and Anthony getting traded. But whenever the Bulls are involved, it's the other team, right?
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 03:55 PM) But the real point is...no matter how little sense a proposed trade makes for the other team(s) involved, we always get to blame the Bulls front office for them not happening. You mean like when Paxson didn't want to break up the future deng/hinrich/gordon dynasty for gasol, kg, or kobe?
-
QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 03:50 PM) It'd more likely be Utah that pulls out on that deal. They don't need to be paying Andris Biedrins $9 million to be their 4th best big man (5th if Kanter develops). Yeah, you're right. I should've said Utah.
-
And this is why the Bulls will never, ever win a championship. The FO is just too timid and too afraid. f*** Luol Deng. He's going to play for his country or whatever. But they're not overpaying you by X amount of dollars. The Bulls are. You're not Scottie Pippen (even though 2K5 said you were). You peaked peaked 5 years ago. Yeah, you play good defense. You fit in a particular type of system. But you're no all-star. You're not a guy that can be counted on to produce offensively every night. If that GS deal is legit, do it. If GS pulls back, fine. But that's the type of deal needed to compliment your superstar long-term.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 03:31 PM) The most shocking thing about that Dunn/Youkilis picture is they found a picture of Dunn reaching base last year. That was a good one.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 10:49 AM) 5.70 ERA, 1.73 WHIP in 10 starts in the National League this season. No thank you, I'd rather take my chances with Axelrod or Castro. I'd rather take my chances with fathom or wite. Lock this garbage.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 01:21 PM) Why would that matter? Im pretty sure Heat are almost at cap with Bosh, Lebron, Wade and Chalmers, so losing Miller would just impact their luxury tax. They would have to replace miller with a MLE so that would be rough on them. http://hoopshype.com/salaries/miami.htm Unless the salary cap jumps about 20mil next year, the Heat are still way over as they have approx 52 mil committed to 3 players. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 01:21 PM) Yes that would save them money but they're over the cap anyway so that shouldn't impact much other than their luxury tax payment. They'll still have the mini Mid level available this offseason either way I think. This is why I asked. I wasn't really sure. The basketball cap, etc confuses the s*** out of me. -

I'm hearing Mike Miller might retire. He has three years and almost $19 million dollars remaining on his contract. Do the Heat get that money back? If so, that's not good. -

QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 12:13 PM) Pirates Beat Writer: #Pirates won't give up front-line prospect (Taillon, Cole, Marte) for Youkillis. Might offer 2nd-tier guy if they get lots of cash in deal -
Jerry should've just offed himself before the guilty verdict. He never had a chance. I guess he can kill himself in prison. But it's going to be a lot more difficult.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 22, 2012 -> 05:07 PM) I hate LeBron and Wade even more. Bosh I've warmed up too, but that's cause he's f***ing weird. Wade and James are still grade A cocksuckers. Wade? Yes. I can't stand his ass anymore. He's a crybaby and a loafer. They were talking about it on the Score just a few minutes ago. LeBron immediately sought out Durant, Westbrook, Harden, etc after the buzzer sounded and congratulated them on a hard-fought series. Wade? He immediately jumped onto the scorers table and was looking for the camera. Wade is a joke. -

Oh, and speaking of emotions - here's part of Dan Gilbert's pathetic rant that I'm sure everybody remembers after LeBron chose the Heat: lmao. You f***ing idiot. -

QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Jun 22, 2012 -> 04:32 AM) Because he just doesn't have that mindset/mentality. Plain and simple. It's obvious enough. Not doubting he is the most gifted player in the history of the game, though. And this is what he positioned himself for by placing himself in what he perceived as his best (easiest?) chance to win rings. It'll just be interesting what happens next now that their is a very clear, obvious contender in a young oklahoma city team. It'll be fun to see what they take from this and how they bounce back. Since you enjoy Jordan comparisons, who's to say this isn't Durant's "getting beat down by the bad boys pistons" moment that leads to their dynasty rather than the heat? Why the hell not? Get well soon Pooh Are you a licensed psychologist now? You know the inner workings of LeBron James? lol. It's a shame there was no internet, etc back in the 80's. Before 1991, MJ was a glorified ballhog who chastised his teammates without mercy and remorse and got coaches fired (doug collins). LeBron was 31/7/6 his third year. The Cavs did a woeful job of putting together a supporting cast to compliment their superstar. That's why they didn't win. Not because of LeBron's lack of mindset. Nobody will ever know what happened to LeBron in the finals last year. But he came back and shut everybody the f*** up. Far as Durant, he's just not LeBron. Not even close, really. LeBron can get his 30 just like Durant does. And LeBron is by far the better defender, rebounder and playmaker. And Harden and Ibaka are both going to get paid soon. The Thunder are the west favorites for next year. After that, it's a crapshoot. -

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 22, 2012 -> 02:55 AM) Can I suggest username change? James4Life You can if you want. I was 19-years old when I joined this board. I'll be 29 in less than 2 months and I see things completely different now. I've learned to check my emotions when it comes to sports. I used to piss on Kobe Bryant all the time because I didn't like him and I hated that he was even mentioned in the same half sentence with Michael Jordan. But as time has gone on, I've learned to appreciate Kobe's greatness and he most certainly does belong in the conversation. Michael Jordan is the GOAT. But how close-minded is it to say that there could never be somebody better? That's boring as f***. I'm not saying LeBron will be better. But at his age (he's basically injury-proof), his skill-set, his physical prowess and what he's already accomplished, why the hell not? Outside of just not wanting it to happen?
