QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 10:45 PM) Why would you ever wanna do such awful thing? It sounds bloody obvious. But they really do get whatever they want. The Heat are a pretty good defensive team. They got cut up good tonight. -

105 points for the Thunder and they get basically nothing from Harden. Forget all that "series doesn't start until the road team wins" garbage. The Heat better get game 2 or this one is over. -

The Thunder are simply the best team in the league. You just have to hope and pray they miss shots. They have so many weapons and get basically whatever they want in their half-court sets. -
Been a diehard Kings fan since the days of Mario Lemieux. Whoooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!! We did it! Kings! Kings! Kings! Go Hockey!

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 12:28 PM) How can you look at this game log and try to say that LeBron isn't single-handedly carrying that team? He's been great. 30.8/9.6/5.1/50.8 doesn't net the type of respect it used to. That's right. Nobody has ever put up those numbers. The 9.6 is obviously his rebounds per game. And that's been out of total necessity with Bosh being out most of the last two rounds. With Wade on/off all post-season, combined with the crap that are the Heat role players, this is pretty much the finest non-Michael post-season performance we've ever witnessed. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 12:07 PM) If Lebron doesn't win this year, what's the excuse? It was always the lack of talent. Well that's not going to fly anymore. Well, the excuse could be he lost to a more talented team? -

QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 01:50 AM) I'd love to see your list of 5 players or more that were better than him that year... Shaq, Duncan, KG, T-mac, Vince, Kobe. This is without hesitation. You could argue guys like Pierce and Webber as well. Nobody who shoots 42% from the field (mediocre TS% of .518) is a top 5 player in my book. AI was arguably the face of the NBA at the time and everybody loves the little guys. But like I said, he was an inefficient chucker who either just refused to or was unable to adjust his game for the betterment of the team. -

QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 08:38 PM) Nowitzki/LeBron last year was no garbage. I understand. I think you're kinda missing my point. There have been plenty of great match-ups of individuals in the finals. But rarely do you see one that features the consensus two best players in the game, who also happen to play the same position. -

QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 05:46 PM) Ahem http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1999_NBA_Finals Wow. That '99 season was so garbage I just pretend it never happened (lol@Malone winning the mvp). Well, both players were well past their primes by that point. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 12:47 PM) Iverson vs. Shaq? I know Iverson won the MVP (should've been Shaq). But I never thought he was a top 5 player. He was one of the more inefficient "superstars" ever. I mean Bill Russell type inefficiency. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 04:16 PM) Olajuwon/Ewing Robinson/Ewing were both top matchups Hakeem/Ewing was nice. Though Ewing was never viewed as a top 5 player. Robinson/Ewing never saw each other in the finals. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 04:17 PM) If the Heat are gonna win, I want it to be because LeBron stepped up and went beast mode on everyone. If they win because of Wade & Bosh's contributions, I will be disappointed about it all. Step the f*** up LeBron. That being said, Thunder in 6 There will be no choice but for LeBron to step up if the Heat are to win. I don't think people truly recognize the burden LeBron has to bear for that team. I'm so sick of Wade and the free pass he gets for a fluke playoff run 6 years ago. He loafs, cherrypicks, and takes entire first halves of games off frequently. And though Bosh looked great last night, you still don't know if he's back after so much time off. I don't even have to get into the Heat role players . But I agree with you. Thunder are the more complete team and I expect them to take the series. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 9, 2012 -> 11:05 PM) Barkley and MJ? Not quite sure Charles was still at the top of his game, but close. Malone and Stockton weren't quite at the top of their games, either. Barkley won the MVP in '93. But you could easily have made a case for Hakeem for best non-Michael player in the league. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 9, 2012 -> 11:08 PM) No. MJ vs an old version of Magic Johnson. Magic was only 31 during the '91 season. Not young, obviously. But still very much at the top of his game. Pretty sure he led the league in assists and finished second in the MVP voting behind Michael. -

f*** all the Heat hate. You're not a basketball fan if you're not amped up for LeBron vs Durant for the NBA championship. You probably have to go back to 1991 to find a final that featured by far and away the two best players in the world going at it. I can't wait. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 8, 2012 -> 12:20 AM) Where's "mcgrad" these days? Still lurking, one would think...waiting to strike. Almost had his opportunity if we would have gotten swept, although the retort back would have been "first place b-----s!" Pretty sure he got suspended. Hopefully banned. If I came into the NBA thread and said I was intentionally trolling (as mcgrad did in catch-all), I'd be banned until Quinnary turned 30.

I've never done this before. But Sunofgold and Soxmaniac (pretty sure it's the same person) are on ignore. Pathetic.

QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 08:26 PM) Reggies was much more of a clear push off... russell got crossed over. His momentum cleared him out, not Jordans off hand. No ref in there right mind even thinks about calling that. Games were called differently 15 years ago. And there was MUCH LESS whining and complaining. It has really stood out as I rewatch the games with my lil brother. I vote for a screen name change... Zzzzzz. I'm not going to get into some worthless argument over something that occurred 13 years ago. MJ's left-hand clearly met Russell's butt as the cross-over was taking place. Yes, you're not going to call that (though I'm sure Jazz fans wanted it called) in that situation. Point being, superstars got calls back then just as they do now. The only difference now is that you have the internet, facebook, twitter, a never-ending sports cycle (espn), etc, that totally dwarfs anything that was going on in the 90's. Magic Johnson once joked as he, Michael and Bird were posing for a photo together during the Dream Team run that he didn't want to get too close to Michael out of fear of being called for a foul. If Michael were playing today, every fanbase in the world (sans Chicago) would be complaining of special treatment, just as they do with LeBron, Wade and Kobe. -

QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 03:04 PM) Not 2...not 3...not 4...not 5... And Jordan's arm barely grazing russell has now become a shove lol lol. 13 years later and Bulls fans still can't admit that MJ used his off hand to separate from Russell? It was hardly malicious. But it was there. Reggie pushed MJ to get free for his game-winner in the previous series. Superstars have, and always will, continue to get superstar calls. That's why I don't cry like a girl over calls that LeBron, Wade, Kobe, etc, get. -
So what shall Jordan's lame, cheesy nickname be?

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 07:45 AM) That surprised the hell out of me too, but I guess it makes sense. The Spurs or Lakers won 9 titles in 12 years, with the Lakers finishing second twice in that span too. I was just looking at the past NBA finals, since 1979 only 10 teams have won the NBA title. That number won't change this year, since MIA/BOS/OKC have all won since then. Yeah, I mean, I knew it before I read it. But reading it out loud just really surprised me for some reason. -

As a basketball fan, this is something that I should know. But reading this shocked the s*** out of me. Only three f***ing teams from the west have seen the finals since 23 shoved Byron Russell out of the way for #6. That is f***ing mind-boggling. -
