QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 17, 2012 -> 08:23 PM) Right which is why losing Bosh is so devastating in this series, because Indiana is a bigger team. Against many other teams it wouldnt have mattered as much. Yes, I was agreeing with you. Hibbert is a solid C. But against Anthony Turiaf and Pittman (lol@pittman), he looks like Dwight out there. -

Wade's got as many turnovers as he does points. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 17, 2012 -> 08:15 PM) Indiana is a tough team, they had the interior advantage even when Miami was full strength. They need to come out of this time out with all their starters and go for the kill. No Bosh means a lot more Joel Anthony and Ronny Turiaf on the court. And that's just not good. That said, Miami should still have enough to win this series. If they don't, no excuses. -

QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ May 17, 2012 -> 08:03 PM) how long is Bosh out for? No precise time. All they've given us is "indefinitely." I knew they'd miss him. But not this much. -

The Heat have less depth right now than the White Sox minor leagues. Shane Battier has turned out to be a terrible signing. And lol@starting Dexter Pittman. That didn't last long. -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 17, 2012 -> 11:47 AM) Absolutely not. Why trade Thornton for an old expensive 3b on the decline with back problems? Trade him for prospects and save the money. Couple things: one, you have to subtract Thornton's bloated salary to be mediocre from what Youk makes. Two, what's the market for a 35-year old reliever with one pitch who hasn't been good since Jim Thome told him to "tell me how my ass tastes" in 2010. You're not getting anything back for Thornton prospect wise.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 17, 2012 -> 11:05 AM) Concede? Weren't you one who was drooling for Youkilis? For a 35-year old reliever who used to be good? Yeah, I'd do it.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 17, 2012 -> 10:38 AM) The Tigers will break it open soon enough. With attendance the way that it is, it won't be hard to justify selling some parts. I fully expect that to happen. But will KW and company realize that even if they're only 5-6 games out that it's time to concede? It didn't happen last year. I realize I'm just a fan and KW has to evaluate/operate in a certain manner, but the best GM's know when it's time to raise the white flag.

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ May 17, 2012 -> 10:15 AM) The trouble right now is that the Sox don't have a lot to trade. Peavy may be moveable, but the return would be pretty minimal. Salary dump (including the $4 million minimum for 2013) would be fine, though, if the Sox are clearly out of it. I'm not sure Konerko would be traded, but he might bring a decent return. Rios...get used to seeing him as a White Sox. The other problem is this damn division. Is any team going to run away with the division? Unless the Sox are way back at the deadline, I don't see much happening. With the way it's going, I could see the Sox right around .500 and within 5 games of first. Exactly. That's the problem. This for, the most part, is a ***ty ass division. In the AL east or west, we're 10 games out by now and looking towards selling. But the Tigers have been average at best and nobody believes in the Indians. It's maddening. You know the Sox aren't good enough to win it. But they're not bad enough to be out of it by July.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 17, 2012 -> 09:40 AM) We also went 7-15 late in 2006 How is that relevant to 2012? I get what GH is saying. Edit: Nevermind. I see what you did there.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 17, 2012 -> 09:07 AM) AA will be jealous when he reads this You're thinking Friedman. I've contained my AA love somewhat in the last year or so. You obviously have to win at some point. But he's the new generation type GM (Theo, Friedman, Daniels as well). These guys were all in their late 20's when they started and they realize it's a different time. And they're all fantastic.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 17, 2012 -> 08:36 AM) Jim Hickey is a terrific pitching coach. They still got the Zim master lurking down there too. Also, I think there is something to the no pressure atmosphere there. They're just not expected to win. Even after this great run they've been on. And I just love Joe Maddon. That's a guy that gets it. He has a little old-school in him. But he recognizes that it's a different era and operates (he believes in the numbers) accordingly.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 17, 2012 -> 08:19 AM) Rodney has always shown flashes of dominance. His straight change is filthy, if he finally got his velocity back from his arm surgery a few years ago, I can see why he is successful with the Rays If we or any other team had signed him, it'd be circus music time. Last year it was the awful Kyle Farnworth. This year it's Rodney. They just find badness and make it somehow good.
-
I've witnessed enough. If there is a baseball god out there somewhere, he/she is indeed a Rays fan. Fernando Rodney, yes, the Fernando Rodney that has been monkeys*** for years, is suddenly 1992 Dennis Eckersley. 12/12 in save oppos, 6.33 K/BB ratio, 0.857 WHIP.

Brent Morel for Dan Johnson? White Sox organizational depth for the win!

QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 16, 2012 -> 05:54 PM) I'd put the Sox 6-7th. Mediocre. Would you take the Orioles rotation over the Sox? -

lol. I like Marty. But damn. ScottyDo is dominating him like brother Quinary dominated the great Victory98. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 16, 2012 -> 02:24 PM) I keep thinking of Josh Fields when I think of Beckham now. He still has 2-3 teams to go before baseball will give up on Beckham. Fields lasted a long time. No, he hasn't. He's minor league fodder at this point and has been for a few years (save the time he spent in Japan where he was still awful).

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 14, 2012 -> 08:08 PM) Wow, what a low scoring game. I want to say it's just playoff basketball (defensive intensity way up, predominantly half-court ball, etc). But other than the Heat, Thunder and Spurs - this is just some bad basketball we've seen so far. -
You know what, Dick Allen might be right. I'm not sure I can do a total rebuild. I can live with the ups and down of young players. But then you have Brent Morel. Somebody needs to put him out of his misery.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 14, 2012 -> 07:54 PM) Just saw highlight of Prince's double. Ugh, that was not good by Mackowiak out there. That was indeed awful. And this is why you shouldn't be throwing out UZR numbers in May (Dick Allen).

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 14, 2012 -> 07:06 PM) More like "If Dunn doesn't get in the lineup twice at Wrigley, there will be calls for Ventura's head." 7 of the 13 hitters on your roster are hitting below .200. You must do everything you can to keep your 2nd best bat in the lineup. This. This version of Dunn was the version you threw $56 million at. Interleague play my ass. You keep his bat in the lineup at any cost. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 14, 2012 -> 03:42 PM) Same injury that caused Manu to miss 15 games this season QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 14, 2012 -> 03:44 PM) I don't really get why J4L found it comical. That is an awful injury that effects just about every movement in your body. Meh. It sounds trivial compared to torn ACLs and back surgeries. I consider Bosh pretty soft anyway.
