  1. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ May 11, 2012 -> 10:23 AM) The regular season means jack s***. Cleveland was the #1 seed twice, do you see anyone giving Lebron a break because of that? There's a big difference between steam-rolling the Clevelands and Detroits of the league and occasionally beating someone good and winning several 7-game series against other playoff teams. The Bulls are well equipped to win in the regular season because they play hard almost every night and have depth. In the playoffs, everyone plays hard and nearly every team has guys that can make plays. It's a totally different animal, which is why the banged up Bulls didn't prevail like they did for much of the regular season. The regular season seems to be getting more and more irrelevant every year. Teams with the best records since 2004: Pacers 61 wins : lose in conference finals Suns 62 wins: lose in conference finals Pistons 64 wins: lose in conference finals Mavs 67 wins: lose in first round Celtics 66 wins: win nba finals Cavs 66 wins: lose in conference finals Cavs 61 wins: lose in second round Bulls 62 wins: lose in conference finals Bulls 50 wins: lose in first round So that's one team since '04 with the best record that's gone on to win it all. Only thing most regular season wins guarantees you is that you'll start your series at home. The Heat basically threw the last week of the season because they didn't care about HC. They were gonna get their guys as much rest as possible. Three most important factors going into the playoffs: relatively good health, as there's no such thing as every player on your roster being 100% healthy. Peaking at the right time (mid-to-late March and April). And getting the right match-ups. HC is a distant 4th most important factor.
  2. Sweet jesus. Denver just blitzed the Lakers these first couple minutes.
  3. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 10, 2012 -> 09:46 PM) You dont need to get me started about what you could do if you switched Boozer for a guy like Leuer. I have always hated Boozer though, I just cant stand his game at all. And I know Im being hard on Thibs right now, but its just because I hope he looks at this series and sees where he could improve. Its unlikely the Bulls would have beaten the Heat anyways, so maybe they look at this and think about how they can improve and what areas they are weak in. This is key. Don't go into this off-season with the mindset of we weren't healthy and that's why we lost.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 10, 2012 -> 09:28 PM) When Rose and Noah are out and Boozer is 1-11, you're going to have problem scoring points. 80 points wins tonight. They couldn't do it. But that's what Boozer does. He chokes routinely in the playoffs. And where did the Bulls miss Noah tonight? They out-rebounded Philly by 24. They held them to 79 points.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 10, 2012 -> 09:23 PM) Rose and Noah are 2 of the Bulls best 3 players, the other one is playing with one hand. Take 2 of the top 3 off any team and have the other one not nearly 100 percent and watch how much dumber their coach will get. The Bulls are championship calibur with their entire roster healthy. Not a lock like back in the day, but a real good shot. I know what the Bulls didn't have. If they lose to the Heat? Fine. Nobody is going to say a thing. If they lose to even Boston or Indiana, nobody is going to make a big deal about it. But they should still have been able to beat this lousy Sixers team. When the Celtics lost KG and Leon Powe (Powe, at least then, was a lot like their Taj), they still beat the Bulls and took a really good Orlando team to game 7 in the semifinals. I'm not letting the Bulls off the hook just because of injuries. Not against this Sixer team.
  6. I somewhat agree with Badger. Look, this is NOT a good Sixer team. Very mediocre and offensively-challenged. They went 15-22 in their last 37 games. If the only difference between the Sixers and Bulls is no Rose and Noah missing a few games, then they're probably not that good anyway. At least not as good as their regular season record indicates. This team needs another playmaker/scorer and they need to get more athletic.
  7. It looked to me that Watson was fouled and they didn't call it. lol.
  8. Was there any doubt Asik would brick both fts? Awful.
  9. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ May 10, 2012 -> 07:26 PM) Bulls had an inbounds with .3 or .4 on the shot clock (their offense was turrible). Luol threw it into Taj and he set and banked in a 3. I see. Thanks. Hard to believe there's probably only 2 quarters left in the Bulls' season.
  10. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ May 10, 2012 -> 07:14 PM) TAJ IS A BEAST Lucas is so worthless PASS THE BALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL Taj's 3-pointer wiped off the board after review. 76ers lead 48-40 at halftime I'm following online. What happened?
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 10, 2012 -> 04:34 PM) 3 people voted for Lou Williams, one for Taj, and the other 115 all voted for Harden. It happens every year. I'm sure Danny Granger will get a couple first place votes for MVP. I just wish these morons would come out and explain themselves.
  12. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ May 10, 2012 -> 03:34 PM) Taj Gibson finishes 6th, including one first-place vote, for 6th Man of Year won by James Harden. Korver finishes 10th. C.J. Watson 12th. So somebody voted for Taj Gibson over James Harden? Awesome.
  13. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...=84998&st=0 That's a thread sin city created on April 7th after a Rios HR. Don't pay any attention to him.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 9, 2012 -> 12:52 PM) The exact thing you fault the White Sox for doing is exactly what you are endorsing. You are not for a total rebuild. If you were, you would be able to take watching Morel look like Jose Contreras at the plate for more than a month. And you're not really in fear of potential revenue losses and the ballpark housing 50 people. Otherwise, you'd be on board with this. Morel has been god-awful for over 6 of 7 months since last year. Combine that with the track record of the White Sox and homegrown position players, yeah, that's enough.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 9, 2012 -> 12:52 PM) So you give up one of your better trading chips for nothing if you can't afford to exercise the option or he sucks. Or if he proves that he's healthy and good, you've got a 3B for next year. And Thornton is really not that good of a trade chip.
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 9, 2012 -> 12:46 PM) While only playing 102 games in '10. OPS was down to .833 last year in only 120 games. He's missed half the games his year with a .635 OPS. I realize that Morel is bad at baseball and I am sick of him too. But Thornton still has trade value and I don't see how dumping him for an aging, injured player who won't be around in 2013 makes any sense right now. It sounds like the type of move everyone wants KW fired for in the first place. OPS from 2008-2010: .958, .961, .975. He was off last year some but that was mostly BABIP related. Anyway, this is futile. Go to a Red Sox board and propose this trade and see what happens. You'll get banned.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 9, 2012 -> 12:43 PM) Yesterday the Sox should trade Konerko, now Youkilis is a freebe? That would be rebuilding on the fly, the exact same thing you rip them for doing now. I'll use one of your lines, the White Sox aren't going to win a WS for the 2 years Youkilis has on his contract, he'd be a waste to pick up. They're not going to win the WS. What's your point? You get rid of an overpaid set-up guy for a potential elite (at least offensively) 3B that you can let go after this year if you choose to. And more importantly, no more Brent Morel. I've seen enough of him to last a lifetime. He's one of the worst players I've seen in some time.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 9, 2012 -> 12:38 PM) If your for a total rebuild, picking up Youkilis makes zero sense. It makes the Sox a bit better, most likely costs them more money. Hurts their draft position and costs them money to be spend developing and signing players. Yeah, but this would be a freebee. Peavy's coming off the books after this year. You just gonna sit on that money?
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 9, 2012 -> 12:27 PM) I disagree. Youkilis is old and falling apart, what good does he do you this season? Paying him $13 million next year would just be dumb. I'd rather not trade Thornton for an injured washed up ballplayer, I thought everyone wanted to rebuild? This would be the complete opposite. And for the anti-rebuild guys, you get a recognizable name that will boost revenue. Youk sported an OPS well over .900 in '10. He doesn't hurt you defensively at 3B. And he boots one of the worst players in baseball sans one fluke month the last year+.
  20. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ May 9, 2012 -> 12:26 PM) fathom would be happy. Everybody would. That would spell the end of Brent Morel. He's just terrible and I can't believe I fell for that September run. Never again. The White Sox do not do home-grown position players.
  21. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 9, 2012 -> 12:03 PM) Yep no reply. That is because it is just idle speculation on the part of a sports writer wanting to manage something other than fantasy baseball teams. However, with the idea of trading Thornton for a player batting around .200 and I think still on the D/L you wonder how well Phil's fantasy teams perform? Please god tell me you're not saying this would be a bad trade for the White Sox?
  22. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 9, 2012 -> 11:45 AM) lets see if he can stay healthy. It wouldnt be the first time Beltran started off on fire only to land on the DL Well yeah. That caveat goes without saying when it comes to Beltran. Same thing applies to Rafeal Furcal. He's also experiencing a renaissance.
  23. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 9, 2012 -> 12:32 AM) The calls were much better though. The officiating the past couple games was horrific. Bulls still choked but there were some horrific calls that assisted Philly offensively. But no excuses, Bulls have to bring there A game on Thursday. I thought game 4 was bad. The belief was that the Sixers were getting calls at home. And not that they were the more aggressive team with more playmakers.
