  1. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 14, 2012 -> 03:35 PM) Imagine how good Tampa would be if they had hit on that pick. That's like their one f*** up since Friedman took over. I read something at a Tampa blog a year or so ago that the only two other players they considered other than Beckham were Alvarez and Posey. Alvarez wouldn't have made much sense with Longoria at 3B and just about ready to hit the bigs, though I guess they could've shifted him (Alvarez) over to 1B eventually. Could you imagine them with Posey? Dayum.
  2. Chris Bosh out indefinitely with an abdominal strain? lol. That's sounds just like a Chris Bosh type of injury. Anyway, I read that LeBron will spend a lot of time at the 4 with Battier at the 3. Poor David West. They'll still roll the Pacers. But the Celtics definitely have a shot now.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ May 14, 2012 -> 02:09 PM) Why would Beckham get Kenny fired? It was a great pick, one that supposedly everyone in the organization was thrilled to see. There's a gigantic difference between making a logical move only for it to not work out (ie: Beckham drafted, Dunn signed to fill DH spot) and making a move that makes no sense to anyone and having it work out pretty much like everyone expected it to (ie: Hudson trade, very possibly the Santos trade also). Outside of Buster Posey, the first half of that '08 draft is looking awful. Pedro Alvarez has crushed my prospect spirit. Tim Beckham hasn't sniffed the majors yet. Brett Wallace is somewhere in the world getting traded again. Hosmer is hitting .194 or some s*** like that. Brian Matusz is an abomination. Justin Smoak is garbage. Yuck.
  4. Yeah, that. I so hate multiple wildcards. So dumb.
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 14, 2012 -> 06:28 AM) I think they just need to start focusing on winning baseball games first, worry about the playoffs later. Only KC & Minny have worse records in the AL. Of course. I'm just saying, the Twins and Royals didn't dole out well over $300 million dollars last winter. Another week or so and the Angels could be 10+ games out. They'll eventually start playing better, I think. But they'd have to go '06 second half Twins to catch Texas. Thus the WC being their only way to reach the postseason.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 14, 2012 -> 02:01 AM) Then why didn't he bench Pierre or Alex Rios last year? Who cares at this point, honestly? To be fair, all greg said was that Ozzie currently has the Marlins rolling. And he's right. They're 10-2 this month. Of course, when they go on a losing streak, greg will blame it all on the players.
  7. The Angels are gonna have to start focusing on the wildcard pretty soon. The Rangers are just too good.
  8. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 13, 2012 -> 05:36 PM) Sox should sign Joe Crede Low risk, high reward.
  9. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ May 13, 2012 -> 06:16 PM) Same problems for the Pacers as last year, can't close out teams without a legit go to guy. I'm seeing that Bosh might be out for a while according to Hollinger, that could be a death blow to the Heat's chances...it would be 2 v 5 and the Indy bigs will maul the Heat's already suck ass FC. Pacers are a lot like the Sixers, IMO. They play good D and have some of athletes. But against good defensive teams, they're going to struggle offensively. Especially when their best player has to chase around the best player on earth for 35-40 minutes a night. They'll still win this series without Bosh. Celtics could be a problem. Especially since KG has suddenly morphed into his 2004 form.
  10. Actually thought the Pacers had a chance there in the 4th. MVP/Wade just took over.
  11. Oh my goodness. This Clippers/Grizzlies game is hideous. This reminds me of the Illini vs, well, anybody.
  12. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 13, 2012 -> 08:07 AM) It will be interesting. In theory, it's the ultimate back-court vs front-court game. The Lakers' bigs need to step up like they just did in Game 7 consistently over 7 more games to stand a chance. Thunder in 6, only because you know they're going to have one off-night and Kobe is going to steal one. 6 is a safe bet. Lakers are going to regret not finishing Denver off in 5. The schedule for them is not too kind. 4 games in 6 days starting Monday, including a rare back-2-back on Saturdauy/Sunday.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 13, 2012 -> 08:54 AM) Hamilton will hurt himself and miss a month of the season. I really hope that's not the case. I want to see somebody win the triple crown in my lifetime.
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 12, 2012 -> 11:45 PM) He's gonna hit at least 45 this year, just to prove last year was a fluke. It may make his BA drop under .230, but the homers will be there. He'd have a good shot at leading the league if not for Josh Hamilton going extraterrestrial on the sport.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 12, 2012 -> 05:29 PM) I would say the Indians have a shot, but only if they had a healthy Sizemore in his prime, and a healthy Ubaldo Jimenez. Neither which are remotely close to reality. Ubaldo is plenty healthy. He just sucks.
  16. First "DA DA" and now "Back-um." Soxtalk nicknames. They're fantastic!
  17. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 11, 2012 -> 10:59 PM) I think it will be too. That being said, I love Robin's quietness about the closer role. In today's age of saves & fantasy baseball, every manager officially names his closer when asked. I enjoy that Robin just acts like he is playing it by ear. This is definitely not true. One, managers don't give a s*** about fantasy baseball. Two, very rarely when a closer goes down, be it due to injury or poor performance, will a manager right away give the title to somebody else. Anybody that participates in fantasy baseball can attest to this.
  18. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 11, 2012 -> 11:00 PM) Can we just refer to him as ADA from now on? Not a fan of DA DA. Leadoff hitters who get extra base hits rock!!! People need to lay off of Joecool for a while. "DA DA" is by far the worst nickname I've ever come across in my 28 years on earth. Awful.
  19. Booooo@the p**** Angels intentionally walking Hamilton. You're down by f***ing 7. Pitch to his ass.
  20. lmao@Josh Hamilton. Dude just hit his second HR tonight. Isn't that like 8 in 4-5 games?
  21. Beltran with a triple and two more HRs tonight. Lose the greatest hitter of a generation? No problem. We'll still be better than when we had him.
  22. So I take it folks here believe Taj could hold down the PF spot as a starter? I'm not saying he can't. If the Spurs can get away with DeJuan Blair and the great Boris Diaw at C, anything is possible. Taj is so good in the role he's in now. I'd hate to see him get messed up by being asked to do much. That's only IF you get rid of Boozer, obviously.
