  1. Just saw a pretty disgusting statistic over at realgm. Since Wade's 4/16 s***-fest against the Bulls last month, he's shooting 58.2% (102/175) from the field. And this does not include the 8/11 so far today.
  2. Jeremy Lin with 8 turnovers at halftime. He makes Russell Westbrook look like a supremely good decision-maker.
  3. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Feb 17, 2012 -> 07:56 PM) Yea, like this guy would have trouble in today's NBA. Kids today... Look, 2k5 is on a mission to get to 100K for his post count. Him and Balta can only disagree on so much. Now he's resorting to fake "celebrity" deaths and notions that Michael Jordan would only be decent in today's game (though just a couple weeks ago he dissed the NBA and said college hoops was better) so multiple people would respond to him and therefore he can build that post count up.
  4. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 17, 2012 -> 04:46 PM) Howard has a 7.5 foot wingspan. He would jump those guys out of the gym. Come on now. Hey, Dwight can definitely take them in a dunk contest. No argument there.
  5. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 17, 2012 -> 04:41 PM) And i'm not arguing that Jordan would suck. But the idea that he would be physically "superior" in the league is just laughable. As a whole the league is bigger and more athletic. Maybe some outliers are comparable, but in general he'd have a more difficult time in today's league. Guys could keep up with him better. Doesn't mean they'd stop him or render him ineffective, but it would make things more difficult on him. He wasn't the most athletic player in the game in 1998 when he was 35 and played the whole season with torn ligaments in the index finger of his shooting hand. And he still won, like, everything. MJ was the perfect combination of physical assets, skills and fundamentals. If twirpy ass Kevin Durant can do what he does...MJ? C'mon now.
  6. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 17, 2012 -> 04:33 PM) Hakeem/Robinson >> Howard. As basketball players? Sure. Athletically? No. Clyde Drexler was every bit the athlete/physical specimen that Wade is. That's just laughable. Come on man. LMAO. Wrong. Howard has a little more mass and that suits his style of play. Quickness and athleticism? GMAB. It's time for you to read your kids a bed time story or something. And yes, Clyde was 6'7, 220 pounds of absolute beast before injuries curtailed his career. Edit. I reread. So you're talking purely athleticism? Then it's a lot closer. Howard is definitely bigger. He can jump higher. And that's good for the dunk contest, I guess. But it doesn't mean anything in actual games. You can definitely reference YT in this case. Robinson/Hakeem had athleticism/quickness that rivaled guards.
  7. Also keep in mind that there was no 3-second rule in Jordan's day. Bigs could just camp out in the paint all game (especially against teams without a good scoring center) and go for blocks. I don't have my head so far up Jordan's ass that I think he'd average 50 PPG or something. Only thing I see suffering a little is his overall shooting percentage. Besides that? Please.
  8. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 17, 2012 -> 04:23 PM) Jordan wasn't 6'7" first off. And second , no, he wouldn't be superior to other people in today's game. He NEVER went against guys like Lebron, Wade or Howard. EVER. I'm not suggesting he'd become Steve Kerr in today's game, but this idea that he was some physical powerhouse is just not true. Hell, he wasn't that in his prime. He was always a finesse player much more than he was a physical player. And yes, his midrange game and post up game made him the greatest. I agree with you there. lol. Please stop. Hakeem/Robinson >> Howard. Clyde Drexler was every bit the athlete/physical specimen that Wade is. I'll give you LeBron. But LeBron has never seen Jordan, either. When Jordan came back from baseball, he built up his upper body to the point that he looked like a mini-linebacker out there playing SG. You couldn't even attempt to push him off the block. It was futile.
  9. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Feb 17, 2012 -> 04:10 PM) Watch some videos on youtube...they're incredibly awkward. I think he'd average about 40 turnovers a game in today's NBA. Oh my god. I wouldn't wish a Bob Cousy video on my worst enemy. Don't do that to Mex.
  10. QUOTE (Boogua @ Feb 17, 2012 -> 04:02 PM) Possibly, I don't have time to do the exact research right now. I do know that in 2003 T-Mac was the leading scorer with 28 PPG (it was a pathetic season) and after that it seemed like the NBA knew they had to make a change. The lack of jump shooting and fundamentals were killing the NBA. They instituted the handcheck rule and after that it became a Guards league. There were 4 people in 05-06 that averaged better than that 28 PPG in 03. Three players that averaged over 30 PPG. Kobe Bryant averaged 10 FTA per game for three straight seasons after the handcheck rule was instated. He was averaging about 8 per game before that. I think the scoring has decreased in the past 10 years because of the offense, not because of the athletes on defense. Players are much worse shooters and they don't post up like they used to. Carlos Boozer got a monster contract because he was one of the true post players in the NBA. Even though he's 6'8 and unathletic. Booqua has a point. I don't feel like going to basketball reference right now. But when Detroit won those two titles in '89/'90, it kick-started a new defensive revolution. You saw those Pat Riley Knicks teams REALLY start to emphasize defense after that and a bunch of other teams followed. Scoring and percentages went down just about every year until it got ridiculous in 2004 with crappy Big-10 basketball making it's way to the pro game. The NBA saw to it that we'd never see another '04 Pistons team again (thank god for that by the way). Scoring and percentages have gone way up since 2004 before this year.
  11. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Feb 17, 2012 -> 03:54 PM) Isn't Nash an unathletic white guy like Cousy? Stop it.
  12. QUOTE (ptatc @ Feb 17, 2012 -> 03:51 PM) That's true. Fat out of shape guys can't hit kind of like Prince Fielder and Miguel Cabrera. Those two are 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger from Predator compared to Tom Arnold, oh, I mean Babe Ruth. He got a candy bar named after him. That's all you need to know.
  13. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Feb 17, 2012 -> 03:46 PM) WAIT, WHAT? MJ wouldn't be as good in today's NBA? Um, he'd average 35 free throws a game. He'd be BETTER in this NBA. Handcheck rule. Period. He'd be the best player in the game. Would the numbers be exactly the same? It's up for debate, at least. I'm not sure Michael shoots 53.9% from the field like he did in 1991. The points would be easy. Put him on a team that sucks and 35 PPG is a cinch. Only thing up for debate is the god-like efficiency.
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 17, 2012 -> 03:38 PM) I don't know if anyone said that, but I kinda skipped over the long post with heights of players because comparing eras is silly. I talked about cloning Bill Russell, but still disregarded the idea. You should just post a webpage somewhere with your feelings on Bill Russell and just add a link everytime the idea comes up so you don't have to re-type that over and over, lol. This all started with Bill Russell/Wilt. Wilt would be a beast. This is true. He translates to any era. Guys like Cousy and Russell? I'm not even sure they could play in the college game, let alone the NBA. And that's real sad considering how terrible a product college basketball has become.
  15. Did somebody just imply that Bill Russell could play in today's NBA? That's blasphemy and preposterous. What's next? That fat, out of shape, porker Babe Ruth would rule the game of baseball like he did when entire teams were hitting 20 HRs and pitchers topped out at a 2006-Freddy Garcia like 86 MPH on their FB? Bill Russell played when there was no athleticism, everybody, even point guards, dribbled with only their strong hand, everybody was built like Wite, everybody shot in the low 40's percentage wise, and everybody played at a clown pace. Bill Russell is not even as good as Sabonis. Now there's always room for interpretation. You've got some guys who were good for their time. Then you've got Wilt, Magic, Michael, Shaq and LeBron. They'd be good ANY time. But just stop with Bill Russell. I can't take it anymore.
  16. wellll, i didn't make it to 12. fyuck that. i made it to 14444444444444444. or 4teen. now, i wass watching a yt vid of black violents ass females gone wild. oh my goodness. black femlaes get physical. they go into posinois cobra mode. they have no regard for anything. women, men, childs, animals, i mean, anything that the world inhabitantz. thats why i dont like black girlz. they don't even loook sexy wen they fight. they like wil ass beasts. anywayz, much love to my good buddie rowan44. we been cools since like 2004, sucks wut happens to my buudie. i challgne soxtalks to make my buddy hit the town wit me 1 night jersey shore style so we can dominate and make his azz forget about his problems. thanks you for you time.
  17. Welp, I didn't plan on drinking tonight. But in honor of my buddy Rowand44, it's time to get f***ed up. I will return after I down 12 tequila shots.
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 16, 2012 -> 11:10 PM) Which they barely won... NBA players sure age fast. Football players age fast. KG, Pierce, and Allen have aged pretty well. But their time as elites are over.
  19. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Feb 16, 2012 -> 11:34 PM) So the Celtics are about even with the Bulls minus Derrick and Rip. Things aren't looking up for them. Things haven't looked up for them since LeBron took his talents to South Beach. They had a great run. If KG is healthy in '09 and if they could've grabbed one frickin' defensive rebound in the 4th quarter of game 7, they probably 3-peat. But their time has passed.
  20. I don't want to see Carlos Boozer for the rest of the year. He was actually having a good game against a non-joke team and he blew it with that abomination of a WIDE open botched layup (should've dunked it).
  21. I've reluctantly decided to go with Price. Zoom, get back to me soon on Longoria.
  22. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Feb 15, 2012 -> 07:34 PM) Jerry West disagrees with...I'll take his player evaluation over yours, no offense. Michael Jordan drafted Kwame Brown and college basketball standout Adam Morrison. I don't care what past greats have to say.
  23. Maybe 2k5 and the others were right. The NBA is garbage. How is this non-athletic, no-skilled, 1970's ball-handling style f*** face doing this? This is like the "great" Bob Cousy in his heyday coming into today's game and dominating. Shame on the nba for allowing this nonsense.
  24. QUOTE (ptatc @ Feb 15, 2012 -> 07:18 AM) It has more to do with the respective divisions than anything. Also, 2 other reasons. 1) no way the Sox play as bad as last year so I don't fall in line with them being one of the worst teams. The Sox aren't going to win the division but aren't going to be awful. 2) I don't see the Marlins pitching staff doing much. Johnson and Buerhle and pray for a hurricane? I don't think the Marlins are going to be that good. But healthy Johnson, Sanchez, Nolasco and Buehrle is a way above average rotation. Forgot about Zambrano. SP shouldn't be a problem for them.
