  1. QUOTE (Tony @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 10:03 PM) Kaplan is approaching it wrong because he's a giant boob, but the idea isn't wrong. We are root for the jersey, not really the player. Chapman seems like a giant piece of garbage, but damn can he throw hard. We are all sports fans. We all witnessed 2005 (aside from Mike who I think was like 2 when it happened. ). When "your guys" are winning playoff series, you're not thinking "Well I'm really happy about this but I wish Chapman wasn't on my team right now...." Cubs fans may be having a hard time with it right now. Once he puts on that jersey and records that first save, no one will be thinking about the DV charges from the off-season. Does that make it right? No. But Theo and Jed know they'll take a PR hit now. If they win the whole thing and Chapman records the save, you think there is a writer in this town that is going to minimize the Cubs 1st WS because of Chapman's past? Please. MJ might've gotten his father wacked and nobody in Chicago gave a damn then or now as the titles were rolling in.
  2. QUOTE (wizeguy57 @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 12:34 PM) Chris Sale and his childish behavior is just another example why this team and franchise is a joke. So he is the best player on a crappy team. He is selfish and self centered. He puts his team in a terrible position because he doesn't like the uniform they are wearing? Get as absolutely much as you can for him and get rid of him. ???
  3. Has Carla Rae whatever her name is done anything since that song? I swear she was huge like 3-4 years ago and has dropped off considerably since then.
  4. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 11:50 AM) Ehhhh More like complete lack of self-awareness or his current stature in the league. Rose compared Melo, Rose, Porzingas to Curry, Durant, Thompson, Green. That is complete lack of awareness. Dumb s*** like this plays better in the GOP v LIB arguments in another forum. This is pretty cut and dry.
  5. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jul 13, 2016 -> 12:30 AM) Seriously, why would a team like the Cubs EVER want to bat their pitcher? Every game they bench a top prospect because they have to let the pitcher bat. True
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 12:15 PM) Being one of the few who will admit to loving "boring" basketball, Tim Duncan was an incredible gift to the NBA. The point has never been about how flashy or fun you are, it is to win. Duncan, and the Spurs, did a hell of a lot of that going back to The Admiral too. 50 or more wins EVERY season of your career sans 1999 for obvious reasons. IN THE WESTERN CONFERENCE!!! That just doesn't make any sense to me. What a player and what a career.
  7. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jul 10, 2016 -> 09:31 PM) Tell me honestly: When you write this nonsense down, are you paid by the word? We get it, you don't like the Cubs. I'm kinda drunk. But did he say anything that was incorrect?
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 11:36 PM) Ben Simmons is one of the most gifted passers I've ever seen. Can't teach that. https://streamable.com/bm0x
  9. Ben Simmons is one of the most gifted passers I've ever seen. Can't teach that.
  10. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 12:05 AM) Fortunately, no one has a real center anymore. You don't need one. Defensive schemes have gotten so advanced now that teams that can't shoot will be exposed. Look at the Grizzlies. They've been a great rebounding/defensive team for the most part. But never have they been a serious contender because they still think it's 1998 offensively.
  11. QUOTE (soxfan85 @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 09:39 PM) "I expect Soler to get dealt at some point--later this year (Hello, Andrew Miller)" That was an interesting comment I read on the chicago tribune website after a Cubs article Cubs got you shook. lol.
  12. It's gonna be hilarious watching teams pack the paint against this team.
  13. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 09:14 AM) Is there any chance that they think Wade gives them the best chance at landing another max player next summer? Dude will be 35 and a half this time next summer. Pretty sure big time FAs aren't going to be wooed by Wade.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 08:03 AM) Ray Allen reportedly coming out of retirement to suit up for the Warriors. And it begins... He's 41 and hasn't played a game since 2014. He's burnt cheese toast at this point.
  15. David West is the most pathetic player I've ever seen in my life.
  16. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 01:14 PM) I get the feeling that bmags doesn't like Rajon Rondo He hates Rondo like I hate Bill Russell.
  17. Wade had by far his best postseason since '12. That said, I don't think he's what Cleveland needs. Cleveland, especially now with Durant selling out, needs more length, athleticism and defensive versatility.
  18. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 4, 2016 -> 08:30 PM) I want to believe the Bulls have a chance at Russ but I know they don't. They never land a big fish. He's goin' to LA. I'll go greg and advise everyone to bet the house on that one. Man, how do the Thunder and their fans feel right now? Four years ago they had Durant -23, Westbrook -23, Harden -22, and Ibaka -22. Looked primed to take over the league even after losing to Miami. Now this time next year you're looking at building around Oladipo/Adams. Two fine players. But nothing compared to what could've been.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 4, 2016 -> 07:03 PM) Who is the center now for GSW? Varejao? Do they have any money left over to replace him? One of their weaknesses will be interior defense without Bogut. Very popular player, organization was basically forced to part with him for financial reasons. Ezeli's out too, guess they'll come up with someone, as every C in the world not currently attached to an organization will want to play for them. Greg Oden, come on down. Joking about that one. Maybe Rush can get some more playing time with their smaller line-ups. He's a very solid defender as well, at least he was at Bishop Miege and at Kansas. Zaza Pachulia for 2.9 million for next year. That's a damn good add at that price. Not the defensive presence Bogut is. But he's been pretty good the last couple years according to defensive+/-.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 4, 2016 -> 06:36 PM) Predicted record-breaking season again for GS? The biggest benefit is that this takes some of the pressure off Curry. And he showed in the playoffs he's capable of playing defense when motivated. Being around Green, they will push him to up that side of his game. He has the wingspan to be more of a presence. That's a bit of an understatement.
  21. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 4, 2016 -> 06:28 PM) They don't have a choice but to get something. Lakers wouldn't give up some young players for the chance at keeping him? Why give up anything when he's gonna be a fa? It's not like they're sniffing the playoffs next year. Simply wait until the season is over and go at him when he's a fa.
  22. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 4, 2016 -> 05:28 PM) I would think that the Thunder will trade Westbrook by February's deadline. There's no way that Sam Presti is going to let both guys leave for nothing. He won't get much back. He's a FA next summer. What would a non-retarded team give up for 3 months of WB? Not even three months. More like 2 and the playoffs.
  23. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 4, 2016 -> 03:50 PM) Sometimes I wonder if you're Stephen A Smith. That would clinch it. He doesn't have to win 6 just like MJ didn't have to win 5 and 6 to be considered greater than Magic or Kareem.
