QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 30, 2016 -> 10:40 PM) Yeah, the Bulls had all that a few years ago. Nothing in sports is promised ?

I feel like barfing. We've lost an extraordinary talent well before his prime to what looks like a freak accident. RIP to him and his two buddies.

i think i was in 6th grade when kg was drafted. unbelievable. hof class of 2021 should be the greatest class ever. And that's without the possibility of Paul Pierce retiring this year. -
Was Terry Bevington a better manager than Robin Ventura?
Jordan4life_2007 replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 22, 2016 -> 09:28 PM) Robin is a much better manager. Robin is not a buffoon. He just isn't a very good manager. Bevington was a buffoon. Robin really blew it. He might have had a long career as a manager had he figured a way to build on that 23-10 start. At the first sign of adversity the team folded and Robin's laid back, even keel personality didn't help a bit. Since 23-10 this team has been historically bad. WTF does the highlighted mean? -
This f***in' blows. First Knight's son now Kyyle's pops. Man, I'm so sorry for your loss, bro. ima pray for you and your fam.
-
Damn, I thought something happened to kyyle. Sucks to hear about your pops, bro. I hope whatever is wrong with him he can overcome it. My dad is 67 and i tell him all the time that wen he goes i'm climbin' into the casket with him. Nothin' like a good father/son relationship. Again, kyyle, i hope everything is alright in the end. Keep us updated.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 28, 2016 -> 09:32 PM) Tales From the Crypt deserves nomination, don't know that it would be best though The first three seasons are just epic. I just finished watching the episode when Demi Moore marries that fat dude because the psychic lady tell her he's about to become rich.

QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Aug 28, 2016 -> 04:00 PM) LOL. Who could ever forget the Cubs 2003 Bartman choke or the Cubs choke last year getting swept 4 games by the Mets. I'm saying it would be better not to have those chokes cemented in the memory of their fans. Beyond that, what is the big deal about just making the playoffs? Do they hand out a trophy for that? LOL That wasn't anything close to a choke.

QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Aug 27, 2016 -> 09:57 PM) Why wouldn't you take 4:1 odds on the best team in baseball and heavy favorites to win the World Series? I mean those are great odds for a team in their position no? Do you think they are going to win the World Series? It's a simple question. If the answer is yes why not take the wager? No thanks. I don't bet on baseball. You wanna do nba? I got the Warriors winning fairly easily. lol.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 27, 2016 -> 01:09 PM) You have no problem praising them here or any other non Chicago team. Why not put your money where your mouth is? What other Chicago team deserves any type of praise other than the Cubs? The Sox, Bulls and Bears are burnt cheese toast. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Aug 27, 2016 -> 01:42 PM) Cop out. You don't need to root for them to take the bet. I mean if it's inevitable the dominant Cubs are going all the way anyway, it doesn't matter whether you root for or against them and why not make some $ in the process? I said the Cubs are the best team in baseball and heavy favorites. I never said they were a lock to win the World Series.
-
QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Aug 27, 2016 -> 08:00 AM) Ok, well at least we won't have to hear you say something along the lines of "see told you guys the Cubs were going to win the World Series" if they do win it. Waiting for J4L now. Hopefully he takes my bet, it will give me another incentive for rooting against the Cubs in the playoffs. To take the bet, any bet pro-Cubs, means I would have to root for the Cubs to win. Something I've never done in my life. Just because I respect/envy the juggernaut they've built doesn't mean I'm sitting in front of the tv screaming whenever Bryant ropes one out of the park.
-
I said before the season that 97 wins was their floor. They're gonna demolish that total. And they haven't even had Schwarber. #facepalm

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 23, 2016 -> 09:49 PM) Bryant is just incredible. Already better than I ever thought he would be. And Addison Russell's offense has caught up to his defense.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 22, 2016 -> 01:26 AM) Are the Cubs a lock to win the WS? Would it be one of the biggest upsets in history for them not to make the WS? They're BY FAR the best, most complete team in baseball. They'll be favored against whomever they play. However, baseball is just too random.
-
QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Aug 21, 2016 -> 03:13 PM) Ok but like you said he's in the NL with less competition for those awards. Just because he wins the NL MVP makes him the best non-Trout player in baseball? GMAB. I'm taking the guy that hits just as well but can also play top line SS and 3B defensively. Also nobody has mentioned Lindor, but if I had to start a team right now that's the guy I'm taking first overall (ahead of Trout even). The guy is unreal defensively playing a premium position and already a very good hitter at age 22. Only going to get better. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-francis...-is-ridiculous/ Lindor over Trout? Stop. Mike Trout might be the greatest baseball player that's ever lived.
-
QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Aug 21, 2016 -> 09:25 AM) Always so dramatic when it comes to anything Cubs or Lebron. Give me some Manny over Bryant, who also happens to be 6 months younger as well. Also don't sleep on Harper. He'll be back in a big way if he out hits Bryant and the Cubs this postseason. He's also younger than both Manny and Bryant. Kris has been in The Show less than 2 full seasons and he's won the ROY and is the pretty easy favorite for NL MVP.
-
I've seen enough. Kris Bryant is the best non-Trout player in baseball. He's got baseball fans everywhere shook. Nobody thought he'd be THIS good this soon.

QUOTE (Boogua @ Aug 7, 2016 -> 12:53 PM) I don't think either of their stats would be that much better, but he would completely collapse defenses now. I think Hakeem would be so valuable due to his a ability to switch and be a rim protector. Him and the Admiral are suited for today. I agree completely. They were way ahead of their time defensively. -

QUOTE (Boogua @ Aug 7, 2016 -> 12:44 PM) Orlando Shaq wasn't peak Shaq, but he could run the floor with the best of them at that point. Imagine Draymond trying to guard him.. Yeah, that's a losing proposition. Though zone principles would help a little. At the end of the day, Shaq had no game outside of 5 feet and was a really bad ft shooter. So his ppg wouldn't look any different than it was during his time. Hakeem? Now that's a different story. He'd likely be better than he was during his time if he played today. -

QUOTE (Boogua @ Aug 7, 2016 -> 11:51 AM) I wonder what someone like Shaq would do today. I wish big men would develop in college for a few years. Very off topic, but I'm watching that Magic 30 for 30. Apologies.... I feel like greg He'd be the Shaq you saw during his time except he'd be forced to actually take care of his body and not use half the season to get in shape as he did most of his Laker years. Bigs have much more defensive responsibility than previous eras. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 3, 2016 -> 11:41 PM) Westbrook signs 3 year extension. I'm happy for the Thunder. Presume they will make a major push for Griffin next offseason (if not sooner). Good for him and I'm happy for Thunder fans. -
QUOTE (Deadpool @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 12:19 AM) I would bet you $10,000 you couldn't make that play. He's a pitcher. It's cool he made a good play. Crying about it doesn't put the white sox any closer to a championship Pretty sure Q wasn't serious when he said he could make that play. Just that it was nothing even close to spectacular for a regular OF and for emphasis he jokingly stated even he could make it.

I'm predicting a GOAT meltdown around these parts once the deadline goes and nothing of consequence has transpired.

Please Pray & Think of Knightni's Little Boy

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 07:00 PM) We've had tragic news following surgery. Josiah has an incurable issue with his intestines. He will be passing away soon. Thank you all for your support and prayers. Man, I don't even know what to say bro. I've lost a brother and cousin, both of who I was extremely close to, in the last four years. Not trying to compare losing them to an innocent newborn who apparently never had a real chance. But it will get better, bro. I promise you. I know people think i'm just an alcoholic troll who hates all chicago sports. But I do believe in the lord. That's all we've got in the end. for realz. This world is so temporary, man. If i'm right, you'll see your little dude again. Just gotta be patient. Knight, i sent you a pm. ANYTIME, bro. I mean that.
