QUOTE (Boogua @ Jan 18, 2014 -> 10:39 PM) How underrated has bird become? You talkin' Bird the exec? He's done a great job in putting that team together. -

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jan 18, 2014 -> 08:21 PM) This is crazy but if the season had ended today, Durant might just be the run away MVP. You could've said the exact same thing this time last year. Then LeBron started caring and the Heat went like 40-2 to end the season. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jan 18, 2014 -> 08:39 PM) Paul George. Oh. My. God. https://vine.co/v/hlXOOilF029 Like I said, a more athletic Scottie Pippen. -

This is the third Warriors/Thunder game I've watched this year and I get so much stimulation/pleasure. It's like a 3-some would be with Snooki and Courtney Stodden. -
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 17, 2014 -> 10:44 PM) Is it just me or have dicks and balls been discussed in every topic this week. This is a f***ing White Sox site. If you're looking for a place to chat about the sex organs, gtfo lmao. yes, sir, Jose!

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 17, 2014 -> 08:39 PM) From July 23rd until the end of the season, Podsednik was 9 for 23 in steals, good for a 39.1% stolen base percentage. It's cherry picking, but it's still bad. Jesus. That's worse than I remember. #Podssucks #lockthisthread

As the Sox were in the midst of their September collapse in 2005, I remember the poster that goes by the name of Rowand44 shockingly saying he hoped the Sox missed the playoffs rather then somehow back in and get swept by Boston or NY. Shameful, shameful, shameful. ok, I'm lying it was me.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 17, 2014 -> 08:27 AM) Still, he played baseball. It was so bizarre, I still remember that summer after they won their first three-peat and his father was killed, then the leadup to the following season. It still makes absolutely no sense at all It was a stupid f***ing charade. I was like 12 and thinking to myself "what the hell is this guy doing?" The best basketball player ever blatantly wasting his prime playing a sport he has absolutely no chance in succeeding in. Cost us a potential 8-peat and NO CHANCE of anybody ever matching his resume. Because of that dumb s*** LeBron is only 3-4 years away. -
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 16, 2014 -> 06:35 PM) I was actually thinking the same thing today (#randomness). I prefer him right now over De Aza awful, awful, awful

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 16, 2014 -> 01:30 PM) We have entire cities devoted to gambling. Our society celebrates it. Why do you keep bringing this up as a moral deviation? His father got wacked not long after the gambling allegations surfaced. Then he retires from the game because he's spent, wants to spend time with his family, etc, only to go play minor league baseball? In 2013-2014, all hell would've broken loose. Hell, there might've been more investigation back then if not for the OJ case taking over everything. -
Yeah, this is a good idea. Sons of Sam Horn has an advanced stats section and it's awesome. I'll try to contribute when I'm not drunk.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 16, 2014 -> 08:42 AM) Bieber's popularity is with teens. That is why he and Miley are so googled. I doubt many 30 and ups google Biebs, and only the perverts that age google Miley. According to Forbes, Biebs made $58 million in 2013. MJ pulled in $80 million. I guess being a youtube sensation doesn't pay off like selling shoes. lmao. Is Bieber even 20 yet? How much money was Mike makin' at 20? You just forced me to stick up for Bieber. Shame on you. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 16, 2014 -> 08:13 AM) You guys seriously don't think Bieber is more famous than Jordan? Bieber is the most famous person on the planet right now. And then I see J4L said the exact same thing. Well I did say just about more famous/popular than anyone ever. In my 30 years on earth, I've never seen anything like Bieber Fever (I feel sissy as hell just for typing that) . A Bieber vid goes up on YT and it gets like a million hits in 5 minutes. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 16, 2014 -> 07:51 AM) So you just ruined your case. If he is more popular, how has the social media ruined him like you claim it would MJ? This guy is way more scandalous than MJ ever was, and MJ was smart enough to keep most of his discressions, discreet. It is funny the argument is MJ would be exposed for all these things he WAS exposed for back in the day. And it didn't matter. MJ is the king. Get over it. The greatest of all time. Who the f*** ever said MJ would be ruined today? lol. All I, Kyyle, or anybvody else that doesn't still wear Air Jordan's or sing the "be like mike" song in the shower has said is that most of the s*** that was kept secret/hidden from the public or came out WAYYYYYYY after the fact would not be possible today and that the way we view/see him overall would be different. -

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jan 16, 2014 -> 06:55 AM) This is so not true. Maybe he is amongst 13 year old girls but that is it. At Jordan's peak he was arguably the most famous/popular person on the planet. That's Bieber today. And with social media, youtube, etc, he's more popular than MJ or just about anyone ever. -

QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Jan 16, 2014 -> 12:04 AM) lmao being a nice guy doesn't mean s*** in sports He wouldn't be untouchable because people like him. He'd be untouchable because $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Justin Bieber is more popular than Michael Jordan ever was and I can't go 13 seconds without some kinda controversial (fake or not) story about him on yahoo, omg, tmz, facebook, twitter, etc, etc, etc. What might've worked in 1995 sure as f*** wouldn't work today. -

QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Jan 15, 2014 -> 09:36 PM) Dumb argument, but I'll play along. Jordan would be a god now just as he was back then. He would still be untouchable. And I cannot even imagine just how rampant extramarital affairs are and have been in pro sports for the last million year. It's a nonstory unless you add a bunch of craziness to it like the tiger woods debacle. And it's ridiculous to think that someone like LeBron doesn't participate in that in just about every single NBA city he goes to. Of course he does. What LeBron DOES get attacked for is character related to sports and competitiveness. He gets called out for having to play with other stars in order to win, for his whining, for his flopping... That image is what's most important for the elite player, and Jordan's competitiveness could never be questioned. I also think that Jordan would be a little smarter about it than kobe/roethlesburger/even favre... Zzzzzzzzzzz As a person - LeBron > Jordan all day, everyday. Only Jordan jockers think he would be "untouchable." The gambling stuff alone would be magnified times infinity in 2014. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 15, 2014 -> 02:19 PM) What is the backlash on DWade having a baby on the way while getting engaged when it was proven the couple wasn't "on a break" like they claimed? There were plenty of stories of MJ's infidelity during his playing days. Nothing was going to stop that PR machine. lol. Where? The Suntimes? -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 15, 2014 -> 02:15 PM) They were afraid he would infect him. It wasn't because he was cheating on his wife. And Magic came clean about all his conquests. Do you seriously believe guys these days aren't cheating at all because of social media? In the age of cell phone cams, you have to be ALOT more careful/cautious than you did back in the day. Hell, look what happened to f***ing Bieber. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 15, 2014 -> 02:12 PM) Wasn't that "after the fact"? And the only reason that ever came out was because Tiger wrecked his car trying to get away from his wife's 8 iron. It doesn't matter how it came out. It came out and it was a big deal. Nobody cares if Jud Buechler is cheating on his wife with strippers and porn stars. Michael Jordan? Big deal. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 15, 2014 -> 01:29 PM) There still was plenty of gossip. The punching Kerr's face is on here as an example. Well, the reason it can be used as an example is because it was out there. Obviously it's a fishbowl existence for everyone now, but back then, I don't think it was any less a fishbowl existence for guys like MJ. MJ is still prominent now. Do you really think he's changed his ways much? We found out about it way after the fact. In 2014, we find out about it right after it happens and it'd be a s***storm. You're delusional as all hell if you really believe 2014 media, etc doesn't dwarf 1993 media, etc. -

Didn't want to make a thread. Why did the NFL thread get closed? I don't post there much. But I lurk there often to get quick bears info.
