  1. So Louisville is a lock for a 1 seed if they take care of business the rest of the way?
  2. Again. College basketball > anything but baseball
  3. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 04:15 PM) Or get paid 6 figures to analyze numbers. And, of course, the Bill James disciple pops up when it comes to over-analyzing or straight up inventing meaningless stats. Maybe somebody outta get word to KW to sell high on CQ because some stat dork suggests his HR total from a year ago scream fluke because when he hit them they all didn't literally leave the ballpark. lol. Pathetic. And what they make doesn't mean squat. That's like me saying Peter Vecsey is a legitimate NBA columnist/analyst because he's made a fortune over the years when he pretty much does nothing outside inventing/fabricating trades that never come close to happening. I'm not saying all these 'stats' are totally useless. But "just enough" HR is 40-year old virgin territory.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 10:12 AM) Theres a pretty hilarious thread on nsbb.com talking about how Quentin's HR's last year were lucky. What the hell is a "just enough" HR or a "lucky" HR? They've got stat categories for this now? I swear some of these turbo nerds need to go outside and get some punani or something.
  5. Watchtower? Oh, Watchtower? Where Art Thou?
  6. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 01:17 PM) As a total player yes, but not as a defender. Frazier got the job of defending the conferences best - guys like Turner, Harris, Hummell and Lucas - and shut them all down (save for Lucas in the 2nd game). You could make a good case for either one of Johnson, Frazier or JuJuan Johnson. I was surprised Walton got it.
  7. QUOTE (The Bones @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 01:29 PM) Michigan doing whatever they want against Iowa. They're up 21 at halftime. I really expected Iowa to put up a better fight than this. Anyways, the Big Ten bubble teams doing well so far. Illinois is gonna have a tough game against Michigan, especially if Frazier isn't available to guard Harris. Michigan is a tough team to figure out. When they're good, they're REALLY good. Not looking forward to playing them tomorrow at all.
  8. That's fine. I'll still refer to it as Sears Tower.
  9. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 8, 2009 -> 11:29 PM) If I was DePaul, I'd be looking to get into C-USA and trade with Memphis. Bring over Memphis to the Big East. Boy, THAT would be fun. They're a John Wall away from one of the top recruiting classes EVER! They might not lose another conference game until, like, 2012. I think it's safe to say they no longer qualify as a mid-major program.

  11. And DeMarcus Cousins chooses Memphis. Wow! It's a wrap if they get John Wall.
  12. QUOTE (zenryan @ Mar 8, 2009 -> 03:03 PM) What are the chances it wont be a Kansas/OU final? Slim and none. And I expect OU to win.
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 5, 2009 -> 11:58 AM) Nice. I like this one better.
  14. Anybody notice that Joakim Noah has been a rebounding fool the last 15 games or so?
  15. 16-year old boy beats the s*** out of a WOMAN bus driver. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=8b6_1236294679
  16. Stephen Strasburg is a monster. 18 k's last night.
  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 6, 2009 -> 10:25 AM) Link in AAA, Teixera in AA. That's my guess. He's a Yankee.
  18. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 6, 2009 -> 12:05 AM) It has been, but what really sucks to thinks about is that if Meacham hits the wide open 3 tonight they definitely win, and if he hits either wide open 3 on Sunday against MSU with the game tied there is a decent chance they win that one and they would actually have an outside shot at a Big 10 title right now. It's a shame Alex Legion has been such a bust this year. If he were anywhere near as good as he was hyped up to be (I haven't given up on him. But he's been a total bust this year), Bruce wouldn't be forced to stick with Trent when his shot isn't falling, which has been quite a bit this year. Can't wait to see some 'real' guards next year.
  19. PSU straight owns us. Anyway, I'm not that upset about the loss. It always sucks to lose. But those last 5 minutes were pretty much a microcosm of Illinois' weaknesses all season. Great regular season (when you consider how far this team has come since last year's debacle) overall. I don't expect us to do much in either the BTT or the NCAA tournament. Next year is when the fun really begins.
  20. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Feb 28, 2009 -> 01:21 PM) 0-18!!! lol. I figured that this would be the one game you would get. I almost feel bad for Wainwright.
  21. Young, exciting, legitimate talent that you can actually get excited about! Feels like 1999 again.
  22. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Feb 28, 2009 -> 01:06 AM) If they lost by a bucket to the Cavs, Celtics, or Lakers I'd agree with you. They lost by 23 to a team that was tied for the fewest wins in the league. I can't write that off to not being good, this team isn't THAT bad. The first quarter the fell behind, settled for jump shots, didn't play help defense, and turned the ball over way too much. On a night like tonight, it just shouldn't happen - they embarrassed themselves. It's tricky. There's no way of knowing what a team's mindset is going into any particular game. Did the Magic not get up for the Bulls the other night? Stuff happens. This Bulls team isn't good enough to take ANYONE for granted. So shame on them IF that's the case. We're definitely in agreement that the team embarrassed themselves. But they've done that about 15-20 other times this year. Shouldn't be surprising. Even to a team as bad as the Wizards.
  23. QUOTE (Felix @ Feb 28, 2009 -> 12:52 AM) DJ is #3 in the Big Ten in steal percentage and #2 in the Big Ten in block percentage, above both Chester Taylor and JuJuan Johnson in both categories. That plus his pure dominance on the floor defensively is enough to convince me that he's the most deserving candidate in the conference. Pure dominance? Let's not get crazy now. You can use the word "dominance" when talking about somebody like Thabeet. Not Johnson. As good as he is. And the steals/blocks are nice. But there's obviously a lot more that goes into it, otherwise Bruce Bowen is not much of a defender. Chet can effectively guard multiple positions and has consistently locked up some of the best perimeter scorers the conference has to offer. Here's a little piece from a recent Rivals article. http://collegebasketball.rivals.com/...asp?CID=915064 Here's another piece from a dailyherald article a few weeks back. http://blogs.dailyherald.com/node/1414 Not saying any of this makes Chet a lock to win the award. Just that he has as good a case, if not stronger, than any other player in the conference.
  24. QUOTE (Felix @ Feb 28, 2009 -> 12:43 AM) Damian Johnson says hi. Tell him I said hi back. And he's definitely one of the better defenders in the conference. But it should come down to Chester/Johnson.
  25. Shaq went for 45 last night? WTF?
