  1. It's hard to be scared of anyone in their rotation outside of Zambrano. That's what's so hard to understand. Their 2-5 on paper and going by past history sucks. But the NL is so bad that it hasn't mattered...yet.
  2. I guess I'm in the minority. I don't like this move. Maybe if we had another proven back (not that Benson was at all proven). I wanted to see Benson behind an upgraded offensive line. Let's hope Forte is the real deal. Otherwise our running game will be worse than last year.
  3. Could the two best teams in baseball both reside in Chicago?
  4. I'll admit I was giving Swisher a hard time. I even compared him to Jeff Liefer. But deep, deep down inside I knew he wouldn't blow ass all season.
  5. Looking at our upcoming schedule, we have a chance to go on a serious roll. We've got a terrible Tigers team and the crap that is the NL (save the *barf* Cubs) all this month.
  6. As I said in the game thread, I'm finally a believer. This is a damn good baseball team. A team that can run with anybody. This is going to be an extremely fun summer.
  7. I'm finally all the way convinced now. This team is for real.
  8. I knew I shouldn't have watched the game today.
  9. Looks like the Celtics will hang on. s***ty ass way to finish what should've been a romp.
  10. And the Celtics are seriously choking on a fat one. This will be an all-time choke if they blow this game.
  11. Kenny proves once again that fans (including myself) for the most part don't know s***. As long as Kenny continues to tune out the fans in regards to running this team, I want him to be our GM for as long as he wants the job.
  12. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jun 6, 2008 -> 10:27 PM) I'm as big of a Jordan as the GOAT as anyone, but even I have to admit that Kobe is pretty dang close. Kobe is a better outside shooter than Jordan ever was. But overall Jordan is slightly better offensively and defensively. Jordan played when hand checks were legal and used forcefully as defense. He also shot a higher percentage than Kobe and was a quicker athlete in his prime. Kobe is more powerful, but Jordan was more graceful. Jordan is #1 all-time, but Kobe is arguably in the top 5. He's right on the level below Jordan with guys like Oscar Robertson, Larry Birdy, Magic Johnson, Wilt etc. Let's not kid ourselves either, Jordan wasn't exactly a boy scout with his cheating on his wife and big gambling problems. Disagree with a couple things here. First, I agree that Kobe has a little bit more range on his jumper. But it's certainly not a wipeout. Kobe in no way shape, or form, is stronger than MJ was. Not even close. One of the reasons MJ was able to dominate down-low the way he did, especially his last three years with the Bulls, was because of his big frame and strength. Magic once said that Jordan was the strongest wing player in the league. I also recall guys like Tex Winter and Jim Cleamons saying just how strong MJ was. Also, how is Kobe in argubly in the top 5? I know you can't possibly have him ranked above Jordan, Wilt, Kareem, Russell, Magic and Bird. Those guys are in a class by themselves. Then you're talking about guys like West, Robertson, Julius, Shaq, Hakeem, Duncan. Can you really make an overwhelming case for Kobe having a better career than those guys? I've never really paid much attention to the MJ/Kobe comparisons. MJ is MJ. He's the best ever. But I'm not so close-minded to act as if nobody can ever get close, or maybe one day surpass him. But as good as Kobe is, and he's damn good, he's just really not that close. For him to get close? Do what you're doing this year next year. Do it again the year after that. And the year after that. But forget about stats/awards/championships. Just go with the eye test. If you saw Michael play, then that's all you need to go by.
  13. I've got to start following college baseball more. I haven't heard of any of these guys. So other than Beckham and Danks, the only two guys we've drafted that I've got a clue about, who's worth keeping an eye on (in other words, which guys have a chance in hell of actually making it to the show?).
  14. Game 2 is a must for the Lakers. They won't beat Boston four times in five games.
  15. OC is just bitter from the '05 ALCS thrashing.
  16. The Reds have a potential juggernaut offensive club. I didn't realize they were so good as far as drafting/developing talent. They're loaded.
  17. Please god no more Konerko hand excuses. Dude is just a bad baseball player right now. If it's that bad, sit your ass down for a couple weeks.
  18. I know the D behind him sucked. But that doesn't excuse the two walks.
  19. Total buzzkill tonight. Wasserman is f***in' garbage. Let this be a lesson to those who slurp players because of good springs.
  20. If CQ doesn't do it, nobody on this team will.
  21. Time to bump the infamous Buehrle thread? He's seriously been in decline since mid 2006.
  22. lmao. Thanks, daa84. Ron Santo is an absolute terd.
  23. I just shake my head in disbelief at this pitching staff. I did not expect it to be THIS good. The bullpen was stellar. It's an amazing feeling when you can feel good about any one of five guys (Thornton, Dotel, Logan, Linebrink and Jenks) in clutch situations. If/when the offense catches up with the pitching, will have somethin' special goin' on in '08.
  24. Jose, Linebrink and Q. And that's it.
