  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 12:37 AM) In my defense, I never really stated my opinion on the Garcia trade, not having him on the club in '07 was good enough for me so I guess I did like that trade (+1). I never simply state "-soandso- sucks" because that is pretty lame, I'm not a big fan of his as a manager though so you got me there. (-1) I like Kenny Williams and I think he is quite fit, the guy works out like 3 hours a day. (+1) I liked the BMac trade, hated the reasons behind it and the initial loss of McCarthy was bothersome but I did liked the trade. (+1) Even if all my worst fears are realized this season I still think the Sox will finish with a better record than the Twins, the worst the Sox can do in my mind is 3rd place. (+1) Actually I think this guy is pretty good. (+1) I don't know what the hell you're thinking, that guy is pretty terrible. (-1) I do think Ozzie is mostly to blame for the hall injury so you got me there too. (-1) +1 -1 +1 +1 +1 +1 -1 -1 = +2 . . . I guess I'm an optimist. Kalapse, you're one of the best posters here. I wasn't trying to attack you. You did kind of rile me up when you called me a "fascist" pig. lol. I wasn't even sure what that meant. I had to look it up. And I'm sure you were joking. Just caught me at a bad time. Everything is cool.
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 12:30 AM) I think a major motif with the criticism is that people feel like Ozzie is letting his personal feelings about players impact his personnel decisions. Between that and the whiny comments KW made about not extending his pitchers when their contracts are up, the vibe hasn't been great. I couldn't agree more with you though.....let's get to the games. Hey, everybody knows how I feel about how Brian Anderon has been handled. Only Heads is a bigger BA jocker than me (I've had the same avatar and sig for like a year now. Could be time to change). But I don't think Ozzie went from World Series winning manager to incompetent in a matter of, what, a year? I think we should all just take a deep breath and be happy as f*** that the greatest team sport ever invented is set to begin in a few days.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 12:18 AM) It would be nice if more than a day went by when something overly negative didn't happen during this Spring Training. Well, I was speaking about the entire offseason. Going all the way back to the Freddy Garcia trade. Ever since then, it's just been one big bag of "Ozzie sucks. Kenny is unfit. We got ripped off in the B-Mac trade. We got ripped off in the Freddy trade. We're destined for 4th place. This guy sucks. That guy sucks. Ozzie is to blame because Toby got hurt" ect, ect, ect. Like I said, I have no problem with anybody expressing their opinions and thoughts, positive or negative. There's just a certain way to go about it. But that's just me. I just can't wait for Monday to get here.
  4. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 12:09 AM) Poppy Hidalgo (whose birthday no one acknowledged yesterday) Hideaway Lights southsideirish71 (mick bastard) Poppy is dead to me. Hideaway has no credibility. I think we could go 162-0 and he would post the same garbage. SSIrish does go overboard with the "I wish our hitters would stop lifting and pulling" bit. I wasn't trying to single out Kalapse. We've had A LOT of people just crying and moaning or whatever. Look I know this is a message board. Voice your opinion. No problem. But why the doom and gloom every single day? Before a season has even started? You don't think I'm worried? s***, if all goes wrong, I think will finish 4th. But I can do that without making it look like the end of the world is near.
  5. Happy B-day, Kap.
  6. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 12:04 AM) Fine then Fathom b****es more than I do plus he's very condescending. That's 2 strikes against him. LOL. Fine Kalapse, you're in the top 5. And don't even try to tell me there's 3 other people in here besides Tizzle and Fathom that complain more than you. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 12:05 AM) Complaints which have been validated by Williams himself (signature) and the restocking of our system this offseason. Yet you still do it.
  7. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 12:00 AM) Oh I know there's people on this board who despise me because I b**** so damn much and you know what? I love to read them b**** about me b****ing, there's some just so b****in' about it. WORDS ARE FUN. And that is such bulls***, Flash b****es WAY more than I do. All that guy does is complain. Honestly, at this point I don't really have much respect for him anymore, basically in every way imaginable. I think he's earned it and he's lucky he did because no one is just handed my disrespect, the have to earn it on the playing field. Most of Flash's complaining is about our minor leagues. I don't even pay attention to that anymore. Will agree to disagree on Ozzie.
  8. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 28, 2007 -> 11:48 PM) If I can't b**** then what should I post? I don't have much else to say at the moment, this team isn't giving me much to go with on the positive side of things. And I don't believe in "what if's" so take that you fascist pig. Look, nobody b****es on a daily basis more than you. I get that. That's just the way you are. But why such nonsense before the damn season has even started? It's fine to question. It's fine to have doubts. But after a while, it gets tired and annoying. And I'm more than sure I'm not the only one that feels this way. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 28, 2007 -> 11:49 PM) If I can't b**** then what should I post? I don't have much else to say at the moment, this team isn't giving me much to go with on the positive side of things. Technically what you just did is defend the move. No, I'm trying to look at it from Ozzie's point of view. You know, our manager? Or does his opinion not mean as much?
  9. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 28, 2007 -> 11:43 PM) Well technically we have no control over any of this s*** at any time during the season so we should really cut out b****ing and moaning for any time of year. If we weren't aloud to b**** and moan I'm pretty sure I'd cease to exist. It'll atleast be more justified to curse the team to hell if they fail to perform. What if the team starts 20-8? Then everybody can play the "I always had faith. I was just worried. I'll eat my crow" card. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 28, 2007 -> 11:44 PM) How is Andy Sisco and his non-existent control any more of a sure thing to get major league hitters out? At least Logan has had some sort of success retiring hitters over the past 15 months. I don't really see how Sisco making the team and Logan going to Charlotte benefits anyone involved (Sisco, Logan or the Sox.) Like I said, I'm not defending the move. But we saw Logan do the same exact thing last year, then fall on his face come regular season. And atleast with Sisco, he has had some success at this level.
  10. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 28, 2007 -> 11:35 PM) If I know what I know, there are members of the media who read this message board. Please, anyone -- if you have an opportunity to interview Guillen, can you just ask him one simple question -- "you've said last week that those who perform well will make the team. How is it someone with a 0.00ERA didn't?" Maybe someone did and we'll read about it tomorrow. I just don't think a decision like this should pass without serious questioning. Hell, even DJ mentioned on the broadcast yesterday that Logan is the obvious favorite for one of the two spots. I'm not defending Ozzie or the move, but we did see this movie last year. Maybe they're not confident in his ability to get major leaguers out yet? Maybe they want him to get a little more run down at Charlotte? It's not out of the question.
  11. Let's just get the season started. We've had 6 months to curse Ozzie; deem Kenny an unfit GM who gets ripped off in trades and praise the Indians, a team that underachieved worse than the Sox last year. I'm pissed that Logan didn't make it, and I too question some of the things we've done of late. But it's time to stop b****ing, crying and whining everyday about stuff we have no control ever. It all starts Monday. Let's see how it plays out.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 28, 2007 -> 11:09 PM) If it's about talent, then we're going to be in a battle with the Twins for 3rd place. Or if it was about talent, we would've won 105 games last year. There's obviously many different factors that make up a winning team other than talent.
  13. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 09:35 PM) The evil Ozzie played Toby at first base to get him extra at bats, and in the middle of the play, he (being Ozzie) went out and tripped Toby and he injured his shoulder in the process. Typical Ozzie. After the game Toby said he never wanted to play first base in the first place and shouldn't have been out there (I think thats what he said anyway) LOL. Yeah, I read some of the other posts just after asking what happened. Kind of ridiculous to get on Ozzie in this case. I just hope Toby is alright.
  14. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 09:17 PM) KW goes out and makes one of the best signings of his tenure as White Sox GM and it takes Ozzie less than 3 weeks to f*** it up. Super. Wait, wait, what happened? Edit: Nevermind. lol. Calm down Kalapse. You can't blame Ozzie for this.
  15. So It looks like Floyd to the 'pen.
  16. This year is really tough to call. So many things have to happen, yet realistic things, for this team to win the division. 1: Starting pitching (especially Buehrle) has to perform. 2: Bullpen has to step up. Our backend is as nasty as they come, assuming they're all healthy. But we've got a bunch of unknowns (although talented) after that. 3: Scott Podsednik. Last year, mainly the second-half, was inexcusable. 2005 form will be a big improvement. 4: Like it or not, Erstad will play a big part in the success, or failure, of this team. If he can stay healthy; get on base at a decent clip and hit atleast .275-.280, our offense could be even better than last year. 5: We have to take care of business against the bad teams. In 2005, we dominated bad teams. Last year, not so much. If all these things happen, or atleast 4 of the 5, will be playing baseball in October. If the pitching is inconsistent like last year; Pods and Erstad prove incapable as table-setters and we stuggle against bad teams, we're in deep s***.
  17. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 03:36 PM) Sorry, I need to rant a bit. I hate the feeling I have about Mark, but I just have such a bad taste in my mouth after the performance he gave in the 2nd half of the season last year, and him following that up with this s*** spring hasn't helped my view of him. There is a LONG laundry list of reasons why we tanked the 2nd half of the season last year, but for me, Mark is on the top of the list. He just let me down so much last season, I really have this built up hatred for him,and I hate having it. He seems like a great guy, and a great clubhouse guy, but the performance has just not been there, and on top of that, there is the contract discussion. Here's a thought, pitch better than Jordan4life, and maybe you will get your money. I am so sick of hearing about what Mark is worth, his agent comparing him to Zito and Meche. STFU, and get a ERA under 4.99, then you can talk. Fixed. I am also very concerned about Mark. But I thought B-Mac was the reason we didn't make the playoffs?
  18. Frank Thomas. I also have a Bo Jackson black jersey. I got it on my b-day in 1993.
  19. Replace Sisco with Haeger and I'm with you. We don't need 3 lefties. I think Sisco would serve us better being groomed to start.
  20. Kalapse, I would just like to tell you, you're always right. Always.
  21. I'll be quite dissapointed if Danks is the 5th starter. I just don't feel he's ready. I don't care what he's done this spring. I'd still rather go with Floyd, who has major league experience. I know, "What has Floyd proven at the major league level?" Well, not a whole lot. I'd just as soon give him another chance at the start. If he bombs, call somebody else up.
  22. QUOTE(Spiff @ Mar 24, 2007 -> 02:44 AM) Shades of Derek Jeter But Uribe wasn't bloody after his catch. So it's not as impressive.
  23. QUOTE(Spiff @ Mar 24, 2007 -> 02:27 AM) Post your favorite Juan Uribe moment (not counting when he was conceived/born). I see. Well, for me, and I'm sure many others, it has to be the the catch he made in game 4 of the Series while falling into the stands. So beautiful.
  24. I don't get it?
  25. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 24, 2007 -> 01:15 AM) Exactly. Danks, IMO would be better served getting some innings down at AAA, working out the kinks, really getting his game right. As you said, his track record would indicate he isn't ready for the bigs just yet. His Spring track record says he is alot closer than alot of us, including some in the organization, thought he would be at this point. I am very excited for John, and I think we will see good things out of him shortly, but I'm just not sure that Danks being with the big club in April is the right move, at least not the right move for John. So do you want Floyd or Haeger in the rotation?
