  1. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 5, 2007 -> 10:39 PM) I'll try my best to fill in. "But we don't have a Liriano" "Broadway will never amount to anything" "We have too many soft tossers" "Our farm system still sucks because we traded Chris Young" "McCarthy should have stayed" "We should have gotten more in the Danks package" "Anderson blows" That should pretty much cover every angle. I'm sure there are a few missing.... Let me try. "Well, that still doesn't come anywhere close to excusing this organzation's lack of insight and overall ineptitude when it comes to drafting and developing players the last 10 years. Rotoworld has no credibility anyway. I live and die based on BAs rankings. I'm so sick and tired of this team's obsession with "soft tossers." Lance Broadway? AHAHAHA! He's a lock to be a bum. Mcculloch? You've got to be kidding me? This guy is supposed to be our Liriano? Why can't we be like the Twins? You know, they drafted Santana, wait, well, they drafted Liriano, wait, um -- AHAAAAA! They did draft Matt motherf***ing Garza! OH YEAH! Who do we have to counter Matt Garza? Who!? How come the Tigers are overflowing with sure-fire, no-doubt-about-it hall of famers in their system? Draft position you say? Well I'm not having it! That's no excuse. I expect our scouting department to be able to locate guys like Verlander/Sowers/Miller at the very bottom of the first-round. It's not that hard, people!"
  2. LOL@the Gordon hate from some of those old threads. Gordon=Pargo? LOL!
  3. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Mar 5, 2007 -> 03:50 PM) That's exactly what it is. Guys, read the criteria they based this off of and you will see. Jim Hendry is awful, but he inherited a team that is the laughing stock of MLB and had back to back winning seasons for the first time in modern Cubdom history. That is the only reason KW is lower than Hendry. The Sox are a constant average to above average team. You can not say the same for the loveable losers. Come on, any list that starts with Kevin McHale as the best GM has to have something wrong with it anyway. You should know right there that this list is a meaningless piece of crap. I understand their criteria. It's obviously VERY flawed and pointless.
  4. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Mar 3, 2007 -> 03:59 PM) My man crush on T2 keeps increasing.. Tyrus Thomas block, then facial He is one athletic MF.
  5. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 08:29 PM) Its very apparent that Ozzie is going to be given the bait almost everytime he gives an interview to say something outrageous. It appears he can't help himself and will spout off. It will eventually lead to his demise, and a lot of people will be shocked. I won't. Exactly what I was saying earlier. Nobody cares what he has to say. s***, you can barely understand anything he says anyway. He takes the bait every single time.
  6. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 03:02 PM) I continue whining about our lack of legitimate pitching prospects because until we change our philosophy, we're not going to match the rotations within our division. OK, I get that. My problem is you're acting like guys like Verlander, Miller, Sowers, ect, are lurking all over the place. You just admitted that draft position is the reason the Tigers and Indians appear to be stacked with all these arms. That we have to overcome it. I agree. Why not just leave it at that? Kenny has already put our scouting department on notice. So it's not like they're ignorant to what's going on. I agree with all of this.
  7. I've got a bad feeling about this year. And I'm usually real optimistic around this time. Unless BA hits, like, .60 this spring, he better be out there patrolling CF. Atleast to start the season.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 02:30 PM) Without listening to the interview, I'll actually stick up for Ozzie and say he probably meant hanging out with Anderson was stupid due to his partying and being goofy. The best case scenario for the Sox would be Anderson to earn his position, and Pods to take a while to recover and let Erstad/Ozuna platoon in LF. I doubt it. It's been clear for a while now that Ozzie has had a bias against B-Mac and Anderson. If not, he should've been more clear in what he meant by that particular comment.
  9. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 02:23 PM) He's just being honest. No one should be upset with him for saying what he thinks when people ask him a question He always takes the bait, though. Nobody cares what he thinks. They just know that no matter what, Ozzie will always turn something minor into a a big ass story.
  10. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 02:20 PM) Ozzie being Ozzie. I just wish for once he could take the high road and simply respond with "no comment." I think this also confirms that BA will not be given a fair shot. What kind of s*** is that? The wrong person to be friends with?
  11. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 02:01 PM) Well of course he hasn't proven anything at the major league level. He's a prospect. The Yankees have Hughes, Sanchez, Clippard, Garcia, and Chamberlain. That is a very good set of pitching prospects. My point wans't that the Yankess were drafting better than the Sox, but that the Yankees had great prospects despite having poor draft position. I just would like the Sox to do the same. They TRADED for Sanchez. And out of the other 3 you named, only Chamberlain is ranked in the top 100 by BA, lower than Gio and Danks. It seems like BA rankings mean a lot to you. I'm not saying our system or the way we do things is perfect. Far from it. But don't use the Yankees of all teams as the model for drafting and developing players. They haven't produced jack s*** for years.
  12. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 01:50 PM) Maybe their farm system isn't very good, but if they're able to trade over-inflated prospects for good players I think it works out for them. And we haven't been able to do that?
  13. Happy birfday.
  14. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 01:26 PM) Sisco doesn't? He is a 6'10" lefty that consistently gets his fastball to the 95-97 area. He also has a very good curve. He has some control issues but his stuff is pretty damn good. You are in very good shape anytime you have 3 lefties with the potential of Gio, Danks, and Sisco. It seems as the Yankees always have big time prospects that get sent elsewhere and don't pan out, so I would be a bit leary of calling the Yankees minor league system very good. The Yankees and the media seem to talk up their prospects quite a bit. How do you know the Sox won't be able to buy an ace on the FA market? That sounds like a bunch of pessimism and "grass is always greener" attitude to me. You will probably use this great line by negative fans and pessimists that I love: "I bet they don't, but if they do I will be pleasantly surprised." The Yankees system has been hippo crap for quite sometime. They're just now realizing that player development, not just spending 500 million dollars a year, is pretty damn important.
  15. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 12:38 PM) I absolutely agree. Bonderman, Verlander, and Miller all have great, great stuff (the first 2 have fatsballs that legitmately sit at 95 and 98 MPH, in addition to good breaking stuff). There isn't a single starting pitcher in the Sox organization outside of Contreras that has an arm like that. The reality is that none of Danks, Gio, Sisco, and Broadway project to be dominating in the bigs. They simply aren't in the same league as guys like Pelfrey, Hughes, Bailey, Garza, etc. I understand that the Sox haven't had the best draft position, but neither have the Yankees, BoSox, and Twins and yet they have great minor league pitching. And the Sox bear repsonsibility for routinely not offering arbitration to FAs to get more picks, and not drafting guys with signability issues. I'm assuming that both those issues come down to the budget they have for the amateur draft. Anyway, I'd really like to see the Sox have a minor league pitcher with legitimately great stuff. I don't see one right now. The Sox aren't going to get an ace on the FA market, they have to develop one on their own. Great minor league pitching? This should be good. The Yanks have one guy they actually drafted worth a damn in Hughes. And he hasn't proven squat at the major league level. Red Sox? Papelbon? And? The Twins? Is Matt Garza the second coming already? You need to stop coattailing Tizzle.
  16. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 11:46 AM) They'll never be as polished as those three. I'll guarantee that. I don't know sometimes. It just seems like we're assembling a collection of #3 (at best #2) starters while teams within our division have #1 and #2's. Within the next several years, with one/two veteran starters probably on the block, I expect more in return than the Cliff Floyd's of the world. We have to aim higher. And yes, I realize (especially with Cleveland an Detroit) they've assembled arms through draft positions. It's just something we'll have to overcome. Then why do you keep whining about it?
  17. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Mar 1, 2007 -> 10:20 PM) I just saw on the news that this girl is cured. I think I would've offed myself after the first week. I can't stand hiccups.
  18. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 1, 2007 -> 01:07 AM) May be a good investment. I heard he's been tinkering with a changeup, and from accounts of teammates it's rather effective. People have been predicting a breakout season from him for years. I wouldn't doubt it for this season. Last year wasn't a breakout season for him?
  19. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 28, 2007 -> 07:00 PM) I don't think that's really what Rowand is talking about specifically. Others were suggesting that they wouldn't mind seeing Frank hit his 500th homer even if it meant a White Sox lost. That's ridiculous. I'd love to see Frank hit his 500th homer against the Sox - just not in a game that's tied up where his homer determines whether the Sox win or lose. And hell, if the Sox are getting pummeled, let Frank hit his 500th - atleast then I can be happy in some aspect about a blow out. Then I agree with Rowand. Although were it to happen, I'd cheer Frank after the fact.
  20. A damn near 4-million dollar a year raise. Nice!
  21. QUOTE(southsida86 @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 07:36 PM) Why do they not like Russell as a starter? Good question. Anyone?
  22. QUOTE(Tmar @ Feb 28, 2007 -> 06:24 PM) I believe you only have to push the controller forward to swing it, could be wrong though. Really? That's got to be annoying as hell. Is there anyway to change the control settings?
  23. This doesn't sound too serious. I don't want to see him pitch again until that soreness is completely gone. There's about 3 or 4 players on this team that we simply can't lose for any stretch without struggling big-time. Jenks is one of those players.
  24. Please excuse me if this is a dumb question, I have yet to play this game. One of my boys bought MLB 2K7 for PS3 today. He claims that to swing the bat you actually have to swing the remote like it's an actual bat? Is this true? That sounds ridiculous. I told him he probably just doesn't know what he's doing. Any info would be apperciated.
