2005 Chicago White Sox
The 98 Yankees are clearly the best team of the WC era. But you can definitely argue the White Sox as the second best team of that same time period.

White sox to be on Oprah tommorow
QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 11:26 PM) Yes, I will watch. And Yes, I will then question my sexual preference. Can anyone confirm this? I knew Oprah's fat ass would jump on the bandwagon. She probably can't name 5 players on the team.

WHERE WOULD HE PLAY?
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 07:38 PM) Mr Griffey can help us defend our title as far as I'm concerned. I think that our payroll can go up a bit because of the killing they will make on merchandising and I'm sure the attendance will go up a lot from the exposure. We need to worry about resigning PK before anything.

Most underrated play of the season
My most underrated moment comes in the playoffs. The five run first inning against Boston in game 1. To that point, we hadn't won a home playoff game since 59. As a Sox fan, no matter what happened in the regular season, you're always expecting to be let down come post-season. I just really think that 5 run inning set the tone for the entire playoffs. You automatically got that feeling that this wasn't gonna be like past years. This team is for real.

Parade
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 01:42 PM) Can anyone tell me if WGN Superstation will be carrying the parade/rally? (Anyone outside of Chicago know if the superstation broadcast the Bulls rallies?) I remember all the local stations used to carry the Bulls rallies. I would imagine it would be no different with the Sox.

What are they saying?
QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 01:13 PM) I don't live in Chicago anymore (ironically I moved to the site of the Cubs spring training), so I don't get the daily interplay with Cub fans that I used to soooo enjoy. Just wondering, what are they saying today? I don't mean that in a "Who's your daddy?" kind of way (Of course I do - a little), but what's the reaction of your Cub fan co-workers? To the sports talkers? They seem to think that after a week or so that everybody will forget about the Sox and the focus will be back on them. I guess that's their way of dealing with the pain.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 10:23 PM) DREAM COME TRUE, THERE ISN'T EVEN A DAY IN MY LIFE THAT COMES CLOSE TO TODAY I never thought I would have a day greater than the first time I got laid. I always thought that 7 minutes would be my defining moment. Last night topped that and then some.

Which players had OUTSTANDING
Everyone stepped up and played a role in winning this. If you're asking for the four guys who stood out the most, I'd have to say Konerko, Crede, A.J, and Pods. The starting pitching goes without saying.

How much have you spent?
Just got back from the Sports Authority. I spent $155 on two championship hats, 3 championship shirts and one championship pennant. I plan on spending a lot more once I get paid next week.

Did you or didn't you?
I cried like a little girl for about 10 minutes. And I'm not ashamed of that one bit. Besides, Girls dig guys who show their emotions.

So It seems I was wrong about
QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 08:54 AM) I never felt so good about being wrong... Congrats KW and the Sox for a magical season.. I still think this is all a dream that I sure as hell don't want to wake up from. Nobody could ever question Kenny's effort. Sure, he's made some bad moves. But his main priority from day 1 was to win a World Series. Kenny's one of the best gm's out there, and I'm glad he's our guy.

White Sox go from cursed to first
I liked this part of the article best.

Congratulations Jermaine Dye
Big props to JD. I wasn't crazy about him when we first signed him as I thought he wouldn't be able to produce as he had in the past due to injuries. I'm glad he proved me wrong.

Best moment?
QUOTE(mreye @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 07:47 AM) The AJ play was in game 2. Like I said. I'm horrible at creating polls. Thanks for pointing that out. Please Mods, fix that if you can.

When and where is the Parade?
QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 07:42 AM) Mayor Daley was on the Score. The Parade is Monday!!! The route hasn't been mapped out yet. It will start at The Cell and end at Grant Park for a Rally! A Rally Crede, perhaps?? Any idea what time this is gonna start? I might have to take off work that day.

Best moment?
lol. I swear I'm horrible at these. The "AJ" play and the 4 complete games are supposed to be seperate. Damnit! Can a mod please fix if at all possible?

Best moment?
Good lord, they're are so many awesome moments to pick from. How the hell do you pick one? I've got to go with El Duque. To get out of the jam he did in a place like Boston still has me stunned.

A fluke?
Now, first off, I don't mean to really jump ahead to next year. We just won a title. I think he should enjoy every little bit of it, atleast until spring training. But, as I listen to some, I get the feeling that most are thinking that this was a one year deal, or that this isn't a team that can consistently make the post-season. As we know, this team lives and dies with starting pitching. Guess what? Buehrle is only 26. Garland is only 27. Garcia is only 29. That's 3/5 of a starting rotation that hasn't even hit their prime or are right smack in the middle of it. Jose Contreras, who was the best pitcher in baseball the second half and playoffs, is only 33. Which isn't old at all in baseball, especially for a pitcher. Then you throw in B-mac, who many thought should've been on the playoff roster until, of course, El Duque pulled his hocus pocus act on Boston. We've already seen glimpses of how ridiculously good he can be. There's no reason at all to think he can't do that for a full year. That's one hell of a starting 5. Bullpen? Neal Cotts came into his own and is only 27. Vizcaino, Hermanson, and Politte are all under contract for atleast 2006. Marte may or may not be back. But I have total faith in Kenny that if he's not back, he'll get us a damn good replacement. Then you've got Jenks. We've already seen what the kid can do on the biggest stage there is. He's for real. And he's only 24. Offense? Well, there's no disputing this fact, WE NEED TO RESIGN KONERKO! Assuming we do that, I think we're set for the most part. I don't know what's gonna heppen with Frank. If he's healthy, we know what he can do. I feel like guys like Crede and Rowand are just coming into their own. We're set at every other postion for atleast 2006. Needs? Maybe you try and strengthen the bench some. DBAHO just posted a link recently that says there's a chance we're interested in Alex Cintron. Maybe you look for a power bat off the bench? Maybe you go out and add another reliever? We already know Kenny will take care of any minor things we might need. My point is, with this team in place, with a manager like Ozzie, with an aggressive gm such as Kenny, this team should be around contending for pennants/World Series for years to come.. P.S. Sorry for the length. I'm too hype to sleep and thought I would babble just a little bit. God I love Soxtalk.

one of the worst teams...So what!
QUOTE(brink1 @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 06:51 AM) Individually, the 2005 Sox are one of the worst teams to ever win a world series. We have no .300 hitter. No above average player 1-9 except Konerko. Great starting pitching though. Playing as a team, we beat a Red Sox team with no starting pitching. An Angels team with no Bartolo Colon, (thank God for the dropped 3rd strike win, and no ump seeing Steve Finley's bat hit AJ's glove.) And then come the Astros who were once 15 games under .500 this year. And their Ace (Rodger Clemens), much like the Angels ace gets hurt. In a year where there were no Great teams, the White Sox managed to survive and win it by playing good team ball. No doubt it was our year. lol@this clown. Go back to Northsidebaseball.com where you belong.

QUOTE(chisox72 @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 03:20 AM) It was hilarious, mostly for Cangelosi's reaction afterwards. You were listening? LMAO. What was his reaction?
