  1. I went from wanting the Yankees to win to now pulling for the Angels. Even if Bartolo was able to pitch, he clearly won't be 100%. Go Angels!
  2. I'm one of the few that's glad Marte is on the roster. I know he's stuggled of late, but if Ozzie and Coop have this much faith in him, I will also.
  3. QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 09:35 PM) Yeah, I was totally proven wrong on the preseason prediction. But I think its a lot easier to judge teams once you've seen them play for a whole season and an ALDS to boot. Anaheim is a better team than either NYY or BOS. Much better. Everything we can do they can do better -- they got a better leadoff guy than Pods, they have a much better cleanup hitter (Konerko is unfit to even carry Vlad's jockstrap) etc. And they have Cy Fatso, K-Rod, and a bunch of no-names in the bullpen who throw heat and strikes. Do not be mislead by the record; its not their fault they caught the A's during their supernatural run. Moreover, don't put too much stock in the Boston series. We lucked out a ton. Clement gave us Game 1 (though anyone who watched the 2003 NL Playoffs probably could have predicted it), and Graffanino gave us both Game 2 and Game 3 (he swung at TWO ball fours from el duque). Clearly, much of what we did came from our own merit, but we played good enough for maybe a 5 game win. We swept because Boston blew it. BTW, the things that let us win the ALDS (overrated old pitchers, bad opposing defense) are found in abundance in the Bronx. Not so in LA of Anaheim. I think you're on the wrong message board. I think this the one you're looking for. www.northsidebaseball.com
  4. QUOTE(DePloderer @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 02:48 AM) Do you think it's an advantage to us that we're having this rest period or will the Yankees/Angels still be in the groove when they come to Chicago? Having a couple days off won't hurt this team a bit.
  5. QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 01:22 AM) Ozzie's got to get Garland into the mix, asap, or he'll be useless from here on out. They should work Garland hard tomorrow so he's not too rested on Tuesday. I just had a thought. With Garland and Contreras starting games 1 and 2, that means Buehrle might finally get his Yankee Stadium start ... in the ALCS, yet. That's what I was thinking, Yasny. Man, this is a really nice problem to have. Start the hottest pitcher in baseball in game 1? Or the guy that won you 18 games and appeared in the all-star game? Me love it.
  6. I don't know if Duque should be the set-up guy or not, but good god, it's beautiful to have the pitching depth we have. So many options. I fricken love it!
  7. Manny can kiss my hairy ass. I want no part of that clown on this team.
  8. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 01:16 AM) I do. Game 1 is a tone setter. We KNOW Contreras will be lights out and will put up a huge game, almost a guaranteed W. Garland is iffy at this point...he was very good in the 2-3 weeks of the season, but very mediocre prior to that. Add to that I'm not a fan of having a sinkerballer start on about 7 days rest, due to his sinker flattening out...kind of scares me. I see your point. But I'm not sure I want to see Garland not pitch for almost 2 weeks. I guess this is a good problem to have.
  9. This might sound retarded, but I've eaten a whopper at some point during the day Tuesday, Wendesday and Friday. I think it's time to bust the Burger King coupons out.
  10. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 01:02 AM) Contreras. He'll be rested, and he's our #1. Jon can go in Game 2. Contreras/Garland/Buehrle/Garcia, setting up Mark for Game 7 if need be. Ozzie could change his mind. But I don't see a major difference in if it's Garland/Contreras or Contreras/Garland.
  11. I still don't want to give up on Marte. I guess I'm a stubborn mofo. He's been so good most of his Sox career. It really hurts to see him struggling like he is.
  12. What a nice problem to have. But I kinda agree with Ozzie. You can't have Garland not pitch for 2 weeks.
  13. Duque. My new god.
  14. I'm in complete and total awe of Duque right now. I can't even come up with the words to describe his performance. Clutch isn't good enough.
  15. Just got home from about 6 hours of drinking and celebrating. I seriously almost cried. I'm so f***ing proud of these guys. El Duque is my new god. I will never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever say anything negative about him ever again. That was the most clutch pitching performance I've ever seen by a reliever. ON TO THE MOTHERUf***IN ALCS!
  16. This is why I hate bandwagoners. I bet most of the clowns buying up all the playoff tickets haven't been to one regular season game all year.
  17. I actually feel much better about our game 3 chances than I did for game 2. One, we've got our best road pitcher who's lights out during the day going. Two, we have a very, very rested bullpen. Cotts, Pollite, Hermanson, Viz, and Duque will all be rested and ready to go. Also, with the day off, we could even use Jenks if needed. All we need ia a quality start from Freddy and will be in damn good shape. I'm very confident will be able to do some damage off Wake, or if they think they're really desperate, Schilling.
  18. I've been hard on Buehrle of late for struggling against elite hitting teams. But tonight, he came through when we needed him the most. Gotta give him mad props.
  19. Just got back from Realtime Sports. I haven't screamed that hard since Arizona/Illinois. I knew it was over when Graffinino made that error. Iguchi is so f***in clutch! Let's finish these guys off Friday.
  20. QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 02:51 AM) I have two words that will render this point moot. Jose Contreras. Point taken. But Jose is a much different pitcher than when Boston was shelling him as a Yankee. Wakefield is pretty much the same Wakefield he's always been. But like I said, I see your point.
  21. I still don't get the draft picks involved. Can somebody clarify?
  22. QUOTE(qwerty @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 02:05 AM) Weren't they down 0-2 in the alds in 2003 againt the a's and came back too? Yup. That's why I'm not about to get too excited. Game 2 is a must.
  23. Boston came back from 0-3 against the Yankees. You can kinda understand why they would be cocky. Lets just take care of business in game 2.
  24. I love this quote.
