Soxtalk Mock Draft- 1st Round
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 12:23 AM) He may have better results this year, but I think Townsend has more upside than Carillo. I don't like the fact that he's sat out a whole year. And everything i've read points to Carillo having more upside and a better chance of advancing quickly through the minors. Besides that, i've also heard that many think Townsend will be best suited in a relief role. I don't think we should waste a first round pick on a guy like that.

6/5 Games
It's awesome to see Field's doing well. I seriously want him to put some pressure on Crede. Gio is sick. He needs to move up soon. Low a is no challenge for this kid.

Soxtalk Mock Draft- 1st Round
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 10:54 PM) With the 15th selection in the 2005 Major League Baseball Draft, the Chicago White Sox select RHP Wade Townsend out of the University of Rice. (bring forward your props peoples). I'd rather have Ceaser Cirillo.

Lineup with Frank back...
This is a good problem to have. I'm kinda torn. Part of me says Frank should bat 3rd because he's always hit 3rd and has that sick obp. Then I look at how Rowand seems to excel as the 3 hitter. Tough one.

LeoDaigle/ThomasCollaro
These two are absolutely obliterating the Carolina League. They're 1-2 in the C-league in hr's. Daigle is 2nd in hr, first in rbi, 3rd in average, and has a good obps. Collaro is hitting .285, first in hr's, 3rd in rbi's, also has a pretty good obps. I rarely hear bout these guys form anyone. Is it because it's still high a? Or are they older than what you would like from a hot prospect? Does anybody know when these two will move up to B-ham? Any info is apperciated.

Allow me to open a big, fat can of worms.
QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 12:28 PM) If the Cubs were completely healthy, they would be a better team than the Sox. Discuss. Welcome back, Brando.

Thanks for the pics, Bham.

What is the biggest need for the White Sox now?
QUOTE(nvxplorer @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:21 AM) If Shingo and Vizcaino can turn it around, the team is fine as it is. Otherwise, a reliever is desperately needed. I agree. Even though I would love to have another lefty who can throw multiple innings when needed. I think we need another bat. I'm so glad Kenny is our gm. You know he's gonna make atleast one impact move.

LaChoke Hawkins
I hate to say it. But how often do Prior, Wood or any of the white players get booed there? Not often. Then look at how guys like Hawkins and Sosa were treated. Just sayin.
-
Jason Grilli
Lets see how Grilli is doing at the end of the season. One good week means nothing.
-
Derrick Focking Lee
This seriously pains me to say this, but Lee has been the best player in baseball to this point. I hope that fool comes back down to earth soon. And what's with these losers winning 6 in a row? It's cool, the Padres will bring them back down to reality.

Trade Ideas
Thread title needs to be changed to trade idea.

Corwin Malone
QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ May 31, 2005 -> 02:59 PM) Corwin getting stronger Very good to see. I hope his velocity gets back up. So he's topping out at 87?

Ryan Dumpster just beaned a Dodger in the head!
Flubs have been playing decent of late. All be it against crap teams.

Cliff Politte for setup man
QUOTE(qwerty @ May 31, 2005 -> 09:20 PM) Ahh... was just this past off-season that people did not want politte's option picked up let alone be resigned to a new deal. What are you talking about? We Sox fans stand behind our guy's no matter what. For real, Cliff is making me eat serious crow this year, and I don't mind it one bit.

Cliff Politte for setup man
I think Ozzie is gonna stick with Marte for now. It's not like he was that bad tonight. Only one of those 3 hits he gave up were hit hard. But it's nice to have that option of Politte if Marte does struggle.

Marte
QUOTE(ChiSoxFan @ May 31, 2005 -> 09:14 PM) I came in on the game at the top of the 8th inning when I saw Marte give up a bloop single to Garret Anderson to tie the game, with loud booing ensuing. I don't want to rip on the guy if he didn't pitch like s***, so somebody tell me how Marte pitched tonight. Erstad killed a pitch that was kinda high for a double. The other two hits given up were cheap. So I guess he wasn't that bad.

Cliff Politte for setup man
QUOTE(Dam8610 @ May 31, 2005 -> 09:13 PM) Cliff Politte just finished off another solid outing in which he went 1 2/3 without allowing a baserunner. I say he should be given the 8th inning when the Sox are trying to hold a lead and get the ball to Dustin to shut the door. He's got microscopic batting averages allowed whether he's facing lefties or righties and Hermanson is the only pitcher on the team with a lower ERA. I think Politte in the 8th followed by Hermanson in the 9th would = many White Sox winners. I can't argue with anything you just said. Politte has been fabolous all year.

Offense is showing some signs of life.
QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 31, 2005 -> 09:05 PM) I agree with all you said except for Crede. Yeah he had the dinger today but this last month his average has been falling like a stone. He needs to get his s*** together and start hitting. Uribe has been terrible lately as well but he has gotten a few big hits during the last week. My bad on Crede. I thought he was atleast around .240. He's at .227. :puke

Would anybody be interested in Mondesi
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 31, 2005 -> 07:50 PM) We already have Raul Mondesi... he is named Jermaine Dye. No thanks. But Dye hit the game winning HR tonight. Hell no to Mondesi!!!!!!!!!!

Garcia is fine
Very good news.

Offense is showing some signs of life.
QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 31, 2005 -> 08:59 PM) We managed a bucket full of hits tonight and managed to put up a few runs for a change. The offense is slowly but surely coming out of it even though we have a few laggards. We need to see a lot more of what we had going on back in the 1st inning where we strung some hits together. I agree. Pods and Gooch have been consistent all year. But now we've got Rowand starting to look like 04 Rowand. Konerko's average is still low, but his power numbers are very good. Crede and Uribe are looking a little better. I still wanna see more consistency from Everett and Dye. Not to mention Frank and hopefully Ross Gload returning. That will help a ton.
