Very early speculation, but I'd say 1B Vaughn/Vargas 2B Meidroth SS Baldwin/Sosa 3B Rojas/Vargas Vargas and Vaughn will get DH time, too. Ramos probably starts in AAA.

I don't think there should be any concern about Vargas getting playing time, regardless of this move. The team seems pretty high on him, and they'd better be since he was the "big return" in a trade. Vaughn, Vargas, and Rojas are probably certainties. Sosa, Ramos, Meidroth, Baldwin, and Montgomery will be fighting for the last few spots.

Yeah, majority of his time has been at 3B. I was just checking that out. Maybe Vargas moves to 1B with him and Vaughn splitting time there and at DH?

Decent WAR last year with a low BA. I'm assuming he's a good defender? Couple good years with Arizona in 21 and 22. The Sox have...quite a few infielders now.

We often see these beefy pitchers able to stay healthy...by healthy I mean not getting hurt and missing time. So, that could bode well, at least.

My guess is Vargas sticks at 3B, unless the Sox move him to the OF, and Meidroth is the 2B. That means someone will need to slot in at SS. With the guys they are adding, hopefully someone pans out.

Trying not to be too enthusiastic, but I really like it. When I first heard Teel was the headliner (and not someone like Mayer), I was a bit apprehensive. But this is a great return.

Nothing wrong with this signing, but certainly not exciting. If we can read anything into this, which I necessarily wouldn't, maybe Benintendi and/or Robert is being moved. Fletcher is probably the most likely to get more playing time via a vacated OF position, and he could play anywhere.

Did all the GMs get drunk last night after the Soto deal? There seems to be no news of anything yet. Kind of expected things to get going earlier.

Pretty ridiculous contract, but we knew this was what it was going to take. 15 years is wild. I can't imagine Soto opting out after the fifth year. $51 million a year (for another 10 years) would be hard to top. However, I'm glad he signed already. This should allow the winter meetings to be much less of a snooze fest than last year.

When I saw this on X, I thought for sure it was satire. This is dumb and gimmicky. Which means they will probably implement it. Maybe the only way this works is to have stipulations attached like others have mentioned.
