At this point, you have to let Robert play and see if he can somehow get hot before the deadline.  Looks unlikely right now and he’ll probably just get injured before the trade deadline anyways.  Getz likely missed the boat in trading him.  Either way, this is the last season Robert will be on the Sox.

And no, Travis Jankowski shouldn’t be playing over anyone.

Where’s all the dudes that said you have to hold on to him until the July trade deadline? I was being generous when I compared his value to Cody Bellinger. That was an insult to Bellinger certainly.

He looked good in spring training, and I really thought he was going to have a nice year, provided he stayed healthy.  But, man, he looks terrible so far.  Maybe it's partially the weather, but I don't see much in the way of effort at the plate.  He's not doing himself any favors if he's looking to get paid after this season.

The Cubs literally only got back $5 million for Bellinger from the Yankees.  The Cubs DFA’ed the reliever Cody Poteet that the Yankees sent them in the trade.

The way Robert is hitting, the Sox would probably have to eat more than $5 million of his salary just to move him, and get nothing of value back in return.

Another month of this and he’s completely untradeable unless, like you said, they eat money to move him (and we know that’s not the Jerry way of doing business). The odds of him finishing the season in a Sox uniform and the team declining his 2026 option in 7 months are greater than 50% at this point imo.

As of today, I am going to assume Robert stays with the team the entire season and then has his option declined at the end of the year which is just devastating based on how everything started with him.

Yep.  Robert should have been traded back when they unloaded Cease. It appears the Sox are going down with the ship with him at this point.

Look if the company line is really "we knew this was a rebuild from the beginning" it was criminal neglect to not trade Luis Robert after the 2023 season.  That was always going to be his peak value, even if he kept hitting, because of all of the low early salaries and years of control left in that deal.  If you didn't back up the truck for him then,  his injury history was always going to be a concern.  But that was the absolute top, even without the benefit of hindsight, keeping a guy like this if you knew this was going to be a disaster of a rebuild looks even worse.

It’s Kenny’s/Hahn’s fault that Getz didn’t trade Robert.

gotta wait til the weather warms up a bit before making any strong decisions with Robert, if he's healthy then he's at least helping in the OF quite a bit

I can't remember how much Sox paid him for his first contract as an international Free Agent.  Was it something like $20 Million plus a big penalty for overpayment? I believe the two most expensive Internation Free Agents were Robert and Moncada.

Put it in the books, and take Luis Robert off the board. The White Sox signed the 19-year-old outfielder to a deal with a $26 million signing bonus on Saturday. That's the second-highest bonus issued to an international amateur under current regulations, behind only the $31.5 million the Red Sox paid Yoán Moncada -- now also with the White Sox and MLB.com's top-ranked prospect -- in 2015.

In 39 AB, Robert has exactly one extra base hit and one RBI. That's remarkably bad.

And the extension was 6/$50.  So Robert has earned $76 million guaranteed.  Robert definitely made out over the Sox, considering it looked like a team friendly contract negotiated by Hahn at the time.

Hope Luis is OK and not an Oil Can Boyd situation. He might need to talk to someone. We just lost a CPD finest  yesterday.

He's been there for 2 years.

I can't imagine what it's like to be in his situation.  It has to be hard to be motivated to be on this team.  The same probably goes for Vaughn as well.

There's no pressure of being replaced by someone in the minors.   It's pretty hard to be successful in this lineup.

It's not unusual to see players get better when they leave because they are around better players.  There is something about this organization that resembles baseball hell.
