BoSox @ ChiSox 7/29/11 Gamethread (7:10 CT/8:10 ET)
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 01:39 PM) Well Omar is 21-59 against Wakefield for his career with an .818 OPS Also, you'd have to think this is the kind of pitcher Dunn would have no problems with right? You'd think. That long swing should have plenty of time to catch up to the knuckleball.

Quentin sought after by BOS
The Pirates were mentioned once a possible suitor, but I find that hard to believe. They could make a minor move, like for Derrick Lee. However, they must have a decent farm system since they've been in a rebuilding phase longer than many SoxTalk posters have been alive.

See, Fridays are a good day for a trade to go down. I wouldn't feel as bad about getting nothing accomplished at work.

Rumor: Rios/Thornton to Brewers for Gamel?
I agree this trade makes no sense to either side, except to rid the Sox of an anchor of a contract. But what the hell would the Brewers want with a guy like Rios?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 07:57 AM) Speaking of...what's the bet on De Aza being in the lineup over Rios today?

Quentin sought after by BOS
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 02:50 PM) I'd take Jameson Taillon for Quentin. #11 rated prospect? Sure.

KW Dangling Dunn
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 02:43 PM) Why wouldn't he? The worst that happens is that no one wants him and nothing changes. I agree. The problem is that I doubt any team would view Dunn as a tool to help them win this year. I do believe he will hit again, hopefully as soon tomorrow (realistically, I'll take next season), and maybe a team will want to take that chance. The Sox would probably not get much back and would probably have to send some cash.

Quentin sought after by BOS
Boston is a team I hadn't heard was interested yet. I don't see a deal happening with Pittsburgh, however, they've been "re-building" for two decades. Maybe they have some good stuff going on in their farm system. Does anyone know about that? As far as the Braves and Phillies, I would imagine if a deal were to happen, it'd be with one of them. I'm torn about trading Quentin. I suppose I'd be happy with a huge haul. But if KW trades him for less than he's worth (and right now he's worth a lot to certain teams), I won't be happy.

Do you think KW is struggling right now?
QUOTE (Real @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 08:50 AM) Problem is will Dunn Rios and Peavy's contracts hurt our chances of competing next year IMO it's essential that Sale is in the rotation next year This is what I'm afraid of. I'm less concerned with Dunn's contract than those of Rios and Peavy. I think if KW can trade Rios and even have the suckers...I mean other team take on half of his salary, it'll improve the outlook.

Do you think KW is struggling right now?
I think KW's in a tough spot right now. If this were another division, the decision to sell would be easy. But with the AL Central being so bad, the Sox are right in the thick of it. I would imagine even right now if a great package was offered (like Brown and Biddle), it'd be tough to say no.

Quentin sought after by BOS
To me it seems like Quentin could still be somewhat of a bargain if he was making $7 to $9 million next year (as someone speculated). I realize the Sox may be slowly slashing payroll, but I'm not a huge fan of getting rid of Quentin to do so. It's too bad Rios' contract is so bad.

Rumor: Rios/Thornton to Brewers for Gamel?
So if the Sox were to acquire Gamel he'd most likely end up in Charlotte? Or, was there speculation that Morel would go to the Brewers?
-
Rumor: Rios/Thornton to Brewers for Gamel?
I'd approve of just about anything to rid of Rios, especially if the Sox didn't have to send too much money, but is Gamel really a better option than Morel at 3rd? His offense looks just this side of bad, although with very limited action. How's his defense?

Ozzie's comments make me so angry. He said that De Aza was in the right place at the right time, and he'll try to use him. In other words, Rios will be back in the lineup soon.

AND THATS A wHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Great win. Sad that the runs had to come from a guy that was just brought up. Good thing the trade went down in time.

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 01:30 PM) Lets say we are dealing an all-star OF'er plus a good pen arm. What would be a good return? What do you know? Current all-star OFer?

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 01:24 PM) Stewart is a decent, not great, prspect. But this perspective you are taking is ridiculous. Yes, the Hudson/Jackson trade was bad. That has absolutely nothing to do with what decisions KW makes after the fact. Zero. Thank you. Seeing posts stating that the Sox gave up Hudson for Stewart makes me want to bang my head against the wall.

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
QUOTE (bulokis @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 12:15 PM) We do not need Rasmus we have a young up and coming stud in De Aza. F*** AA is better than KW. I don't know if this is sarcasm, but it might be true.

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 11:17 AM) Or that we lost out on Colby Rasmus due to lack of a farm system. I think that's where the main frustration comes from. And lol@it being even insinuated that Jackson/Thornton would be enough. Rasmus' potential is unlimited. They weren't going to give him away. That is frustrating. It's sad that big deals are shot down because Viciedo would almost have to be involved in every one.

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
So when KW says the best players will play, does that mean Dunn will sit more?
-
Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
I understand there's still a ton of bad feelings about the Hudson/Jackson deal, but this deal has nothing to do with Hudson. Jackson and Teahen were traded for Frasor, Stewart, and cash. It was not Hudson for Frasor.

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
Rios being benched is the best news of the day...maybe all year. Looking forward to seeing De Aza patrolling centerfield.

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
If the $10 million from the Jays is accurate, this is not a bad deal, IMO. I honestly don't care what Toronto does with Jackson at this point. If they do ship him to the Cards, they will have to send a top prospect, too. As others have said, the prospect St. Louis wanted from the Sox was most likely Viciedo. And I hope Rios sits his lazy ass on the bench the rest of the season. What he's getting paid doesn't matter...he is not performing, and he's not trying.
