QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 02:57 PM) Weird episode of The Killing yesterday. The only thing that pushed the story along was the last like 2-3 minutes. Found it pretty boring really, since all we learned was background information about Linden. Not one single scene with Rosie's family, the Richmond campaign, the teacher or his family, or any other side story. 100% of the episode was Linden, Holder, and Linden's son. I really liked the episode, but I see the point of why spend an entire episode on background of Linden and Holder when there's only three episodes left. Provided the show will be back next season, maybe this will serve to build some character for the future.
  2. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 08:36 AM) I truly feel sorry for Adam. This slump has got to be killing him. I do, too. It doesn't mean I don't get very frustrated when I see him whiff over and over, or watch a third strike split the plate. You can see his frustration after every at-bat. I don't know if he'll truly rebound, but I bet hitting HRs in back to back games might help. I think a part of his slump now is mental and emotional.
  3. Lillibridge is one of the players I don't worry about when they bat. And as many of us have said, he's not going to keep on the same pace and crank out 30 HRs. But with semi-regular playing time he could hit .260+ with 12 HRs and 30+ RBIs. I expect nothing but Ks or weak pop-outs when Rios and Dunn are at bat. Lillibridge is such a breath of fresh air. As Lillian said, some of these other players have got to be embarrassed...and they should be.
  4. Congrats!
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 02:51 PM) Who will be the HR leader? Paul Konerko How many HRs will Dunn end up hitting? 28 How many wins will Humber have? 12 How many wins will the Sox end up with? 84 What're your thoughts? pizza And a beer, and I'll agree.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 12:06 PM) It was...weird but entertaining. The NCAA one South Park has been pretty good this season. Last night's episode was funny, but didn't really seemed aimed at anything.
  7. Not necessarily workout related, but I recently finally got serious about losing some weight. The MyFitnessPal app for the iPhone is great. I just entered my current weight and my goal weight, and it tells me how many calories a day I should take in. There's a nice database of food and workouts that I can search, and it'll add/subtract the calories. I'm 3 weeks in and have lost 7 pounds. Suprisingly I haven't been too hungry, but I defintely had to change what type of food I eat. And then there's the beer...empty calories. I only drink beer on the weekend, and even then I try to stick to the lighter stuff.
  8. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 12:03 PM) check out Jesse Crain's battle wound. Yikes, a baseball does damage from 60'6" Bruise Holy s*** that must have hurt!
  9. Don't think of it as a day off during a winning streak. It's a day off during the other teams' losing streaks.
  10. Interesting factoid about Lillibridge: He's on pace for 17 HRs and 31 RBIs. And that would be in 215 PA. Not that he will hit 17 HRs, but it's interesting. Adam Dunn is on pace for 14 HRs...in 595 PA.
  11. I'm thinking both Quentin and Konerko end up with more than 30 HRs, and Quentin will get close to 40. Paulie will have another great year, batting around .290, 33 HRs, and 101 RBIs. Dunn will improve but still have an off year. .225 BA, 21 HRs, 79 RBIs Humber will continue to pitch well. 13 wins and a 4.05 ERA Rios will continue to disappoint at the plate. .240, 14 HRs, 54 RBIs Lillibridge plays more but still in a platoon role. Ends up with 12 HRs Sox are close enough at the trade deadline to try to improve, but KW won't be able to do much. Danks is traded, however, for prospects. Ozzie offends someone. ESPN, still upset over the White Sox sweeping the Red Sox, ceases baseball coverage and concentrates on the MLS and the WNBA.
  12. With the season just over 1/3 done, and the White Sox surprising many of us so far (not in a good way for the most part), let's have some off day fun and make some new predictions. Who will be the HR leader? How many HRs will Dunn end up hitting? How many wins will Humber have? How many wins will the Sox end up with? And so on... What're your thoughts?
  13. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 05:19 PM) Hmmmm... I wonder... How many Yankees should I vote for... Vote for all of them repeatedly, and then write in the ones not on the ballot.
  14. QUOTE (stretchstretch @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 09:07 PM) and you gotta love how espn titles their article "White sox sweep slumping Red Sox" right, the team who won 5 of their last 6 before we came to town is "slumping"...... to degrade the quality of the sweep as if they came to the park and took advantage of a wounded animal.....rather than admitting we punkslapped a hot first place team in the AL East.... Well, the Red Sox HAD to be slumping to be swept by the White Sox. It's the only explanation. The ESPN bias towards the Yankees and Red Sox is nauseating. God forbid they recognize that the White Sox bats woke up and swept one of the best teams in the AL.
  15. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 04:08 PM) Man, Paulie is 2nd in the AL in RBI. He's a monster. I figured he'd have a decent year, but I didn't expect this. Damn good thing the Sox re-signed him...especially with Dunn's extremely slow start.
  16. Humber once again. I think we can say he's for real. If he ends up in the pen, this board will explode.
  17. Aside from the bad bunting this team executes, even when a bunt works they still can't get the runs in. How many times have we seen a runner of second or third with 1 or 0 outs and get no runs? Way too often. So, even when Pierre gets a bunt down and moves a guy to second or third, that runner seems to die on the basepads anyway. Not sure what my point is except that the bunt means nothing if the timely hitting isn't there.
  18. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 27, 2011 -> 04:05 PM) Yeah me too. It's not that I think Edwin is our worst starter, it's that I think he will be a very effective weapon out of the pen. Throwing 100 mph with that sick movement. He should tear through some hitters for us, and be able to go 2+ IP if needed. He would be a weapon.
  19. QUOTE (IamtheHBOMB @ May 27, 2011 -> 02:19 PM) At the end of the game last night, I noticed a graphic on the right field wall in Toronto that showed Edwin's picture and said he was warming in the pen? Did anyone else notice that? Maybe that is a precursor of what is to come? I saw it, too, and I questioned it briefly. Maybe it is a sign of things to come. I half expected to see James Earl Jones sitting next to me, and I could turn to him and say, "Did you see that?"
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 27, 2011 -> 10:48 AM) My argument has honestly been that Humber has been the best starter, and thus should remain in the rotation. However, that should not be confused with me saying he must remain as such to stay in the rotation. That is not a circular argument. I understood what you were getting at, and I agree. If the Sox said they were going to a 5-man rotation right now, and one of Buehrle, Danks, Jackson, Peavy, Floyd, or Humber must go to the pen, Humber would probably be my third or fourth choice. He's pitching well (very well) and it CURRENTLY the best pitcher in the rotation. Even if he regresses moderately, he could still be 4th or 5th starter caliber. I cannot see the argument for moving him to the pen right now.
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 27, 2011 -> 01:01 AM) Nobody was more excited than me. But man, he f***ing sucks right now. He's like Juan Pierre bad. Juan Pierre is playing better than him right now. That's scary.
  22. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 27, 2011 -> 09:39 AM) Your argument is that since he cannot possibly be THIS good, he should be put in the bullpen. Do you realize how ridiculous of a position that is? Even if he does regress a bit, he would still be outperforming our entire starting rotation...why the f*** would you put him into the pen? I agree. Putting Humber in the pen because history shows he shouldn't be this good doesn't make any sense. The guy is pitching better than any other guy in the starting rotation. He deserves to be there right now.
  23. I just don't understand this thread. Well, I understand the frustration that we are all feeling about this team and their inability to hit when it's necessary. But to explain the poor play by insinuating a haunting? And a haunting of a guy who played pretty well for this team? Okay, okay, yes he trailed off towards the end, but overall his performance was more than acceptable. He was a DH and a power hitter. And he certainly did work counts, just look at the walks. Dunn is killing this team right now, but he's not alone. It would avtually be nice for Dunn to be possessed by the ghost of Thome right now. At least he'd have a batting average over .200.
  24. One homerun a return to form does not make, but that HR by Dunn last night was a bomb. Of course he hit it off Tomko. Maybe that'll boost his confidence?

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 24, 2011 -> 09:28 AM) I agree. The way they were finally able to indict Gibbons just felt so forced. The Wysockis are the main characters, so let's close up the story with Vince & bust Gibbons at the same time with evidence from 15 years ago. At no point in the last 15 years, did they try to find that information? They just happened to find it hours before the grand jury was over, how convenient. And the end scene with Colvin about to f*** the random guy was a bit unnecassary. I agree. It was like they were saying, "Look she is human." I also think they had a much bigger part planned for Jarek's niece. It turned out she was nothing more than a secondary character.
