  1. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 08:37 AM) I figure Dunn will have 2 k's and one "major league pop up". But he would have "just missed it, dagum it!"
  2. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 04:05 PM) LOL. He was my boss. He would throw Cinnabons at me and I'd try to catch them with my mouth. Definitely had a late break as they would mostly hit my ear.
  3. Nice to see the recognition. It's amazing the number of batters that swing at that pitch when it's so far out of the zone. It must break so late.
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 03:30 PM) Good points. Luckily we have a hot hitting Teahen to sub in his place. I think my whole monitor turned green there.
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 03:16 PM) Wow. Look at Ozzie paying attention to statistics! Don't give him too much credit. Maybe it was just coincidence...

    James Spader joins "The Office". He's not the office boss but the boss of the whole company. I thought his character was hilarious, and being an occasional character next season works well. Still no word on who the boss of the office will be... http://tv.yahoo.com/news/article/tv.access...office-new-boss
  7. AJ has always been one of my favorites, too. I've said this before, and I've seen others say the same thing...he's an ass, but he's our ass. He's not as effective as he used to be, but he still calls a great game. And he's a presence out there.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 02:24 AM) Now that Lilly is back in the tank, it's DeAza time, baby. How that Sox cannot make changes to this lineup is beyond me. Viciedo and DeAza are right there. You're not alone. I'm sure the Sox have their reasons, but we as fans are pulling our collective hair out watching Rios dog it, Dunn swing and miss constantly, and the rest of the team fail when there are runners is scoring position. I see this team being right where they are come the trade deadline, which means there will be a trade or two to improve the team. I highly doubt we see Rios, Teahen, or Pierre going anywhere nor Viciedo or De Aza coming up before the end of August.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 02:25 AM) Well, we've continued our .500 ways since Peavy's comment. Which is probably what we'll do if Walker gets fired. At least Jake tried. This team just can't hit with runners on base and now we are not hitting home runs with the exception of Paulie. Even AJ's nice run hasn't helped the offense. AJ is hitting close to .300, and even Juan Pierre has been hitting the ball. But it just doesn't seem to matter when the hits come when there's no one on base. When someone gets on base, especially in scoring position, the Sox just don't get it done. This has to be one of the most frustrating teams to watch in quite a while.
  10. Lowe for Rios makes more sense than Quentin for Beachy. But I'm skeptical about either. If Rios goes away, there is a hole in CF. I don't think Pierre can play there anymore, so the only other options are Lillibridge and De Aza...and I'll defer to those who know more and at least no argue that neither are everyday CFers.
  11. QUOTE (Hollywood_AU @ Jul 5, 2011 -> 10:20 AM) If somebody makes a waiver claim on Alex Rios, they MOST CERTAINLY will be taking over that entire contract. You can bank on that. Which means no one will claim him with the intention of taking over the contract. I think we're stuck with him.
  12. I can see why the last option has gotten the most votes! I don't see him being any of those guys, but I would hope he at least doesn't have the off field issues. Because then his on field success will mean less. I don't know who I would compare him to, but stealing from others' posts, I would agree with a (hopefully) healthy Quentin or Carlos Lee. If he could hit 30 HRs and drive in 100+, but his OBP will be low until he has better plate discipline.
  13. I would hope the Sox would consider paying a chunk of his salary in order to rid of him. If he's not traded before July 31 he'll be placed on waivers, but who's gonna pick him up? And if someone does, they're not going to do what the Sox did and just take over the contract. I know the view of a fan is very different from the view of the ones in change of the money, but right now, what's the difference between paying him to dog it and suck and paying him to not be on the team anymore?
  14. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 02:53 PM) 3 pitches 3 outs? That's like videogame crap.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 02:52 PM) Qrap. If it wasn't so depressing, that would be very funny.
  16. The team could bring in Stuart Smalley. "You're good enough, you're smart enough, and gosh darn it, people like you, Adam!"
  17. I haven't seen the three Star Wars "prequels" or any of the Harry Potter movies.
  18. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 04:30 PM) there are 2 outs Rios'll find a way...he'll find a way

    So far, I like Falling Skies. There's been some comparison to Jericho, but I see a bit of The Walking Dead...but nothing truly compares to that spectacular show.
  20. Seven. The streak should have gone eight, but in a game umpired by Joe West, Ozzie and Buehrle are ejected before the first pitch is thrown. West states that, "It was a pre-emptive strike. I didn't feel like raising my arms to signal a balk." Ozzie becomes so infuriated that he runs screaming from the clubhouse wearing nothing but a cowboy hat and assless chaps. MLB intervenes and forces the Sox to forfeit.

    QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 01:45 PM) via Not a bad idea. To make it worth your while, you'd have to hit 5 or 6 movies a month, right? Back before we had kids, we'd see one or two movies a weekend, so it would have been good back then.

    QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 11:51 AM) You mean Wicked, or something else? It's called Oz: The Great and Powerful. It's about how the Wizard arrived in Oz and became the ruler. James Franco plays Oz, and Mila Kunis is in it too, so that's a bonus.
  23. Seeing a player dog it pisses me off much more than seeing a player like Dunn go through a (very long) slump. There's the skill vs. will theory that can be applied to just about any job, and those that lack the will shouldn't have that job.

    QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 11:08 AM) I'm completely cool with all of this. But as a fan of the Transformers from when I was a kid, I would have loved to have seen this series get produced and directed my some competent people. Speaking of competent film makers, did you see Sam Raimi is directing a prequel to The Wizard of Oz?

    QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 09:55 AM) Just think "District 9" for an outlandish sci-fi premise that turned out to be an excellent film. That was a great movie. Much better than I expected.
